Hi JIm,

I'm also a government employee about your age, working in DC.

I'm new to GOG too and I've found it to be a super gaming resource. This summer sale has really lightened my wallet. I'm almost ashamed of the number of games I bought, but they were such a great deal I couldn't pass on them.

Seems like a really friendly community, but I would steer clear of any threads with a political or social theme, as it can get ugly. I've decided to stick to gaming and just focus on the great games here. I had given up on PC gaming some years back but GOG has opened up a whole new approach for me.

wyrenn: We have the same likes it looks like... what kind of books do you read?
Good evening!

I am an avid reader, averaging between 40 and 50 books read a year. A member of Goodreads, I have over 3,000 books on my TBR (To Be Read) shelf. I like contemporary fiction, nonfiction (especially about baseball, music and travel), science fiction, urban fantasy, classics (I've read *In Cold Blood* by Truman Capote; *The Count of Monte Cristo* by Alexander Dumas, one of the best books I ever read; *Tess of the D'Urbervilles* by Thomas Hardy; *The Old Man and the Sea* by Ernest Hemingway; * O Pioneers!* by Willa Cather; and *Dubliners*, James Joyce's collection of fifteen short stories), mysteries, horror, and thrillers.

What books do you read?

Jim
Where would I announce that I made a purchase? It was a free adventure game called *Beneath a Steel Sky*. I also wishlisted ten games.

Seems people are using this thread for posting games they've bought

Not really sure that qualifies as a "purchase". That's one of the games which are available for free just for making a GOG account.
Sidenote, it's a brilliant adventure game. Definitely one of the best. I highly recommend it.

RetroPopz: I would steer clear of any threads with a political or social theme, as it can get ugly.
I would agree with that; some of the comments there can get pretty vile. (One thread I made, where my first (and only) post just consisted of links to news about a recent, rather tragic, event, ended up being closed because the comments got so nasty, and this is on a forum with practically no moderation.)

Funny note: The word "vile" in that paragraph was previously "viable", which was clearly the wrong word in that context. Why did I make *that* particular mistake?

Edit: Have you tried Ultima 4 and Tyrian 2000 yet? (The latter has some pretty funny data cubes; make sure to actually read them.)
