I apologize for not being able to get back to you sooner and I am very sorry that you feel this way.
However, reputation system that is functioning on GOG.com forums is automated, and we do not have the power to modify the reputation of our users.

Come on Ricky, man, snap out of it! Reputation means nothing! Especially forum gathered one... It's one of those human invented measures, that don't exist in nature by themselves, are completely pointless anyway and don't affect you at all! Don't let it get under your skin!

I mean, i have the lowliest, the worst rep. Since it does not apply to reality and it does neither measure you nor "destroy" you, why care about it? I mean, i really AM destroyed by ugly and partly fake rep, outside of forum i might add which should be considered dangerous and even borderline fatal, but instead of giving to certain people the joy of abandoning life, of getting lost, of becoming desperate or leaving them alone to their machinations, i remain in the eye of the storm, as a thorn in their eye. Or controllably experimenting on partly becoming the monster they made me out to be and trolling them, by acquiring hot goods that they STRUGGLE to prevent me from, sometimes even before their tiny, evil eyes, live action...

Why care about a number, since it does you no justice, or harm?

I once heard someone defend the rep system saying that it can't be useless because its part of the system... What a great logician that guy was.

What do you expect? They have no way of knowing why somebody up or down reps somebody. I suppose they could check to see who is doing the repping, but I highly doubt that they have tools to adjust rep.

Ever consider the fact that people might just be tired of the whining over a minor issue? Rep doesn't get people anything in general. You might lose out on some giveaways if it's too low, but in general it doesn't affect anything.

Actually, this is a pretty valid argument. The only way to beat the system, is by seizing control of its own "weapons". Or "nullifying" them, rendering them useless, etc. Something which has no power over someone, even if by mere decree or sheer willpower of that someone himself, is no more a "weapon", but a joke, instead; a joke that can be put back in turn, on those who first put it on that someone fella... They think they are harming you, they are stupid, practically, on the long run. And as i said before, this can become pretty entertaining, heh heh...

I myself lost 20+ rep over last night. And...? Even if i hit a minus reputation, i don't mind. What power does that 20 rep has over who i am and what is my real reputation or value?

this serves no purpose but to fuel your person desire to make a scene. No-one gives a damn about the rep system, and those that take the time to reduce other peoples and artificially increase their own seem to have even less to do than you.

And how exactly do you plan on providing evidence of this rep scamming? find anyone with a high rep and call them scammers?

Are you taking into account the length of time and activity of a person, trawling through every single post said person ever commented on?

Can i suggest you either get on with your life and go outside or if you havent gotten what you want do what you said and ask GOG to close your account, this is becoming more and more stupid every time i look at it.

Since gunsynd seems to think that giveaways are made to "scam" rep, it'll be pretty easy to identify "high rep scammers".

I said it in your other thread already: Some random troll is attacking your rep number, but you're definitely killing your good reputation here. Don't do this. Get back to your old self (the helpful and nice gunsynd), or finally do what you "threatened" to do: Get your account deleted. But, please, stop this sad forum drama now...

I could see where rep system is handy at times for showing who has been helpful and so forth, however if its being used as a way to grief other players posts they should just remove the ability to down rep period?

thejimz: It's out of control. Maybe the older and higher-rep posters can ignore rep loss, but only a thin line separates negative and positive rep for the little guys (like me). I was at 70 rep 24 hours ago, and now I'm at 59. Why? Who knows! Maybe I'll be at -20 when I wake up tomorrow. I'm not a famous poster who can fall back on everyone recognizing me. It's worrying.

I thought I could stay out of the downrepping storm by keeping quiet and not interacting with the scammers, but it didn't help. What else am I supposed to do? Let them enter all of my giveaways, like they asked? I somehow don't think that's a good idea. If nothing else, the downrep button needs to be removed. The Steam User Forums seem to get along just fine with only a +rep option.
What do you need a high reputation for? I've been here for 4 years and I have yet to find a use for my reputation. It's just there. I think it rises every day you post something on the forums. That's probably how I got mine over the years.

I thought that when I left Deviantart I left all this kind of drama whoring bullshit behind. Don't get me wrong, scrapping the rep system entirely is the best move GOG could make in improving these forums as it's always, always abused. But it's nothing to get bent out of shape over. Especially not to this kind of degree.
