It is simple enough to cut down quotes to the bare minimum, or to make a new post that generally touches on previous points made...you don't need to quote entire back-and-forth exchanges. If you're not interested in addressing the valid points I'm making in this topic, then please just say so and reconcile them in your own spare time.

I still agree with you in so far as that it is ideal to have a filter/advanced browsing options.

May I make a suggestion to improve your browsing experience, while we wait for GOG to hopefully give you that option? You could (like I do) go directly to "All Forums/General Discussion" here instead of the "GOG.com" homepage. From there, you would be able to see the news posts that reach the forum, which will tell of new games. From these forum threads, you will in most cases be able to discern whether or not the game interests you, without having to see any images/screenshots/videos. In other words, it should be apparent from the initial post (if not peoples' following comments) whether a new release is one that offends your sensibilities or not.

DetouR6734: And i'm all for a filter for swears too :)
avatar
GamezRanker: But until then, you are fine to swear in some posts? What about them children, bruh? o.0

avatar
DetouR6734: ....but then i hardly visit this forum except to give away freebies.
avatar
GamezRanker: And then you thretten to not shop at Gog again?
One word: lol
100+ games and i barely visit the forums? you seriously have some processing issues in that brain of yours.

About the children, tbf if they had issues, i could fix them they would hardly spend time in the GOG forum, considering it isn't straight forward to access through Galaxy anyway, however the store page? yeah thats the first thing you see.

Please move along, like i said i wasn't saying they should be removed so quit asking like i did, you can get porn from basically anywhere on the internet, does it really need to be here?

That said i should get the option to not see it.

rjbuffchix: Obviously not. Is GOG putting these games in your account against your will? Otherwise, your analogy does not track. Do people sometimes have a baby in a dining establishment or area or kitchen present with them while the adults themselves eat steak? Yes.

People use workarounds to get games to play without the client (isn't that technically against their terms of service anyway?). Buying on Scheme is not buying DRM-free and is certainly not supporting the concept of DRM-free gaming in general as it is fundamentally a DRMed platform which iirc encourages developers to include layers of DRM in their games. By the way, even games where people consider them DRM-free and are able to run without the client, can be updated at any time to include DRM. Again, a better argument would be to tell someone like me to go to a DRM-free platform like a developer's own site or a DRM-agnostic/partial DRM-free platform like itch.io or a couple that specialize in anime style games. This would still be a poor argument, but I am trying to at least strengthen it somewhat.

Sorry, I couldn't resist the fun of trailing the quote off there :) It's a joke in good fun to keep the discussion light and cool, ok?

Okay, but others will say various non-adult games here "don't count as games" for whatever reason. There are linear indie games here that can be beat in a half hour. There are various forms of visual novel/movie games. There are simulators which in many cases are unlikely to be considered "games" in the traditional sense (though maybe a "game theory" sense describes them as games more accurately). GOG also sells some non-adult movies, which are clearly and unequivocally not "games". Additionally GOG sells soundtracks, artbooks, guides, etc separately from games (though I think all need the game to buy them), which themselves are clearly and unequivocally not "games".

At the end of the day I think the criteria to focus on is DRM-free. I agree it would be useful to have filters so one can exclude content from search. My personal theory is that GOG/stores in general don't necessarily like to do that, because perhaps they hope eventually someone will relent and buy products that keep appearing in front of them.

No, but i am forced to see it (of which i don't want too) unless i don't use the GOG store at all.

And again you can buy games from Steam some of which do not have any DRM tied too them, you can uninstall Steam and still play them, yuou can move them across to another computer and still play them.

I know because i have done so.

GOG has movies? yeah i wouldn't know i don't see them unless i want too.

The fact is at one point alot of Steam top sellers was for me was hentai, that ended up being mixed into the list alot, i was tired of looking through it everytime just to find an actual *decent* game i might get into, it was annoying to the point i just stopped bothering to look at the storepage altogether, until i eventually found the option to filter it all out.

Yes i loved seeing that gay porn on the front page too, was really up my street...

Personally i'd rather do away with stores and not have one on my PC, but with that outside of going the illegal route, i don't have one, which is rather unfortunate.
You could always go console gaming if you want to full on avoid any ''porn related games''

I could reply to each and every one, but all i find is that breaking it up just continues further and further, and i've already answered what was of relevance.

And it's fine for now, Hunniepop did annoy me, but honestly if it continues i will just avoid it altogether, it would be like going to Netflix and sifting through porn movies to find something that isn't.
Sure they may end up being the most watched, and i may view it myself, it doesn't mean i'd want it to be the main thing i'd see when going onto Netflix.

They really do need the filter options sooner rather than later.

There was a topic? Damn, I need to keep up. Oh yeah, pr0n games. I'm sorry, but if pixelated boobies EITHER turn you on, or offend you, you need more help than a simple forum can provide.

This is like going into a supermarket and asking the manager "Can y'all ditch several aisles and compact all the stuff I want into a few sections near the entrance so I don't have to go through the entire store past stuff I don't want every time I want to buy food?"

Like i said, that would have been like telling people not to use the internet so they wouldn't get any porn pop-ups when browsing the web, it's basically non existent now, but back then there was a whole lot of it.

I shouldn't have to not use the store to avoid seeing it, thats just bad business on GOG's part to be honest, and it's not ideal for them if they are losing profits.

Anyhoo, as long as the games are drm free then i'm all for Gog adding em here....even if I personally might not like/want to play this or that game.....and even though such things don't bother me(store page thumbnails and etc), I would also welcome a filter option for those that want it.

Not really as when using a pc for gaming on a specific storefront and a console for gaming its basically the same concept as they are both storefronts that specialize in selling games and a selection they both allow even if you can get movies on both or serioes on both the storents they mainly focus on games .. a more proper example is like telling someone to not go to a store just because they have afew items that aren't liked by some people and told to go to other stores without em despite perhaps more cost or time spent as a result or maybe even the other stores having lesser products
