My experience is that you don't lynch off of playstyle, you lynch off of bad arguments full of holes and things that don't make sense. Meta-gaming can only go so far in Mafia because you never know when someone is experimenting with a different playstyle, or stressed, or simply being more relaxed. I understand that it rubs some people the wrong way when people shift their playstyle, but it tends to be their arguments that you can build a case with and how their arguments affect a lynch.
I agree, I would not lynch someone just based on their play-style. I was just saying that his reasons offer a very convenient excuse if he wanted to try to hide some Scmmy behaviour. Sorry if I seemed to be implying it was a strong enough reason to lynch, that was not what I was trying to express.
This is where you tread into WIFOM. It was the perfect excuse int he past as well, yet it wasn't. It is also the perfect excuse to attract attention as vanilla, be unreadable by scum, and/or hide your true role. The possibilities are endless, and the mistake you make is limiting yourself to the one that fits your case and only that.
You advise me to re-read everything from a different point of view. But that's a very general, unhelpful statement. You don't say what point of view that should be, you don't say what I have missed, in your opinion, and one sentence later, you berate me for paying attention to small details (you call it 'trivial stuff') - when small details were all we had on day one. So you basically admonish me for trying to do my job of helping town. If you have a better way and are town, then it would be in your best interest not only to say: "You are wrong" but to elaborate what would be right and why. But if you are scum, sure, then your aggressive 'playstyle' and your annoyance that someone tries to pay attention to detail are understandable.
Except you were not paying attention to any whatsoever small details. Tell me, do you know why I asked you what was the last mafia game you followed?
No thanks. Your play style is efficient in making yourself suspicious and getting yourself lynched. If you really are town, you are playing into the hands of scum, because you provide a distraction. I don't need that kind of 'efficiency', because I actually want to play this as a team game. And not as a solo adventure, as 'one man army' as you seem to prefer.
What can I say. I can't trust everyone to have basic common sense and see beyond what's in front of their eyes.
The other player who is beginning to set off warning signals for me is Sage. She's been very quiet. And after last game I feel I understand her style quite well and she seemed to really gain in confidence by the end, so where is she now? I don't remember seeing many long posts from her, or any strong opinions. It may be nothing, or she may be distracted with other stuff, but I think there might be something there.
From what I talked to her on Steam, I gathered she's busy with the holidays.
