BKGaming: Okay I was just wondering because I was under the impression Galaxy needed to update at-least once with an imported game to be fully Galaxy compatible. Because as you already know I guess if I don't verify/repair after importing Galaxy reports it doesn't know what game version I am on, etc.

I assume everything will still function correctly without doing a verify/repair then, Galaxy just won't be able to tell the version?
I don't know what you mean by "fully Galaxy compatible", but yes - everything should work just fine. It's not perfect, but we had to agree on something when we were to give users the choice to disable auto-updates globally for all games.
Getting this message in Galaxy after about 30 seconds after signing in to my account:

"Connection to GOG Galaxy Communication Service was lost and could not be restored! GOG Galaxy will now shutdown."

And then it completely closes. Was working fine till a few minutes ago, any ideas what's going on? Seems to still work in offline mode.

Edit: Must've been on GOG's end as it's working now.

Now if I could figure out why installing or importing games via Galaxy makes Microsoft Compatibility Telemetry run.

To be honest, after the recent hullaballoo over Fallout:New Vegas, I'm sad that GOG has moved in the direction it has with Galaxy. Most of your users that I've spoken to weren't asking for achievements or cloud saves. This is Steam-esque cruft that I don't need in my games.

I'm not one who's whining about losing XP compatibility. I'm concerned that these "extra features" are creating a new barrier for people who want to play Great Old Games

That may be, and admittedly my sample size is small. But I buy from GOG to avoid Steam and DRM. If my game won't function without a proprietary Galaxy DLL, then they've made Galaxy not an optional client but a hidden requirement. I might understand GOG doing that with their own games like Witcher 3, but for a seven year old game that doesn't have that functionality to begin with, this is almost as painful as DRM.

In the case of F:NV, most users mod their games and cannot use the Galaxy client to launch it. Many would be hard pressed to put in the time needed to mod the game identically on multiple computers. Those cloud saves are useless if they have to wipe their computers and don't mod again *exactly* the same way. If they use one of the most popular mod managers, Mod Organizer, our saves don't even go where the game thinks they are, so the cloud saves still probably wouldn't work.

Yes, I can turn off the Steam^H^H^H^H^HGOG overlay and Cloud saves but I shouldn't have to. The fact that the Steam DLL is being used as a workaround for the XP users trying to play the game tells me they're probably using the same hooks into the game that Steam uses for DRM. If so, how far are we from GOG DRM?

I'm assuming you're referring to Galaxy lacking the ability to set launch options? It's my one big complaint with Galaxy so far in my first week of my usage. A real problem for games like Quake as well that rely on command line arguments. Honestly shocked more people aren't asking for that feature as it's badly needed, so i'm gonna post the wishlist link for it once again:

haydenaurion: I'm assuming you're referring to Galaxy lacking the ability to set launch options?
In the case of Fallout, we actually usually launch a separate executable called nvse_loader that loads the game with some script extensions. Even giving us the command line arguments wouldn't work.
Feature request. GOG Galaxy Forums.

It would be amazing if I could block out the 10 trolls who go thread to thread spewing nonesence, and dooshbaggery. Its great they have an opinion, and announce it on 45 threads a day, but it gets old.

Would be nice to enjoy the forum without them. Can we please get a block option to block users so we don't have to see them? If so, that would be fantastic.

Thanks for looking into it.
Question about cloud saves: I have Baldur's Gate EE installed and my game would sync every time that I closed the game. I then installed a bug fix / restore content mod and now my game backup fails to sync. Does Galaxy not support save sync if you use mods or is this just a random coincidence?

Edit: It just synced. I guess it was just a weird hiccup last night. Keep up the great work, GOG team!

UltraComboTV: Feature request. GOG Galaxy Forums.
I do think having a specific GOG Galaxy sub-forum would be a good idea. A small amount of forum regulars who dislike Galaxy & GOG's general direction will use any attempt at a civil discussion or question about Galaxy to derail it with their asinine opinions. It has gotten rather old.
how do i contact customer service I have bought five games from GOG only one of them works.

Galaxy Dll != Galaxy Client
the dll just provides an interface for the game to eastablish a connection to the Client and make use of all its features. However it is explicitly designed to handle the case that the Client is not installed. In which case it will simply tell the game "sry, features not available, please continue without them".
The fact that the game uses the Galaxy Dll does not constitute a requirement to have the Client installed. (*)
The dll is just a piece of optional code that the game _CAN_ use.
It is similar to these optional sound providers that you often see(saw) shipped with the game (EAX, Aureal3D,..). These do do not mean that a soundcard with these capabilities is required, but only that _IF_ you have one than you can optional make use of these features.

* with the notably exception of the Gwent Beta test.

I've been having this issue all morning.
Hey,

we have released Galaxy version 1.2.16.

It contains native support for diff patches (with few fixes) and MacOS Overlay, which were previously on Beta channel.

Unfortunately it does not include FPS counter for Windows Overlay (Which stays on beta channel), as it contains a rather annoying bug, which in certain situations creates double mouse cursor while playing a game.
