M&B and M&B: Warband seems silly. Why it seems silly: Warband is a standalone expansion to M&B. New map, new faction, new quests, new mechanics, multiplayer.
But it's not silly; there are great mods for the original M&B not ported to Warband yet and The Last Days was recently released for M&B only.
With Fire and Sword is a weak entry in the series(it's the cheapest of three) firearms mechanics don't work with M&B engine. M&B already has the best melee engine and an equally great ranged weapon mechanics.
Mod community like I said is great, there are tens of total conversion mods on top of hundreds of others.
All in all 10 bucks is a great price for both games. As I said M&B still has the best melee engine. Those who don't like the game don't like it's graphics. I admit they are dated but when you have 300 soldiers on the field you don't care about the graphics. It's also a completely open world; some don't like this too; M&B never holds your hands and some just get lost in its world.
I have played M&B and Warband for over 400 hours. Warband still has a very active multiplayer community. Community has a casual side if you want. But also has a competative side with clans and regular tournaments.

I read somewhere that the Anthology version was missing some files necessary to mod the games correctly, is this true? Is it fixable?
An amazon review said there was a file missing that prevented you from installing the patch that combined BG1 and 2 into one megagame. Didn't check that.
I was able to apply the widescreen mod to BG1 and it worked fine. I tried the ID tweak pack - it worked as well.

Even though I don't like Steam and resent the fact that the developers won't release it anywhere else... it's a great game. I just cracked it so I didn't have to run Steam to play. Can't wait for the update.

Although it should be stressed that the probability of winning this is insanely low. A really neat way to force people to fill their wishlists before Christmas, though.
