Our moderation team decided not to take a side in the discussion since this giveaway thread was created by the community and, as long as there are no forum rules violated, is up to you, dear Gogers, to decide its fate. We will not set giveaway rules, edit the OP's post, nor lock the whole thread.

However, to make it easier for newcomers to understand the situation (about the OP being inactive and other), I will stick my own post right above the first one.

You are, of course, free to create new threads to start anew and make your own, clear rules. At the same time, please stay reasonable when crating them, as multiple new duplicates might make it even more confusing for many Gogers.

Hi there,

I'm a little confused, what is this thread for if not to give away these short term expiring codes?

I don't usually read the OP most times since I honestly don't think about it, but this time I did. I didn't see any particular rules the OP set for this thread. Perhaps you can help explain for those of us who don't understand?

I just wanted one place to give these free codes to games I already own so they don't get wasted and I will look into your suggested thread.

That's the problem with this thread. The OP isn't clear about what it's for, so different people had different ideas over time and there were, and still are, frequent disagreements, and specific threads for the various things that end up posted here exist, so it would be recommended to use them. There's Ninja Giveaway 2.0 for posting first-come-first-served codes (though the OP asks not to simply post them directly, since in that case bots are likely to get them), and seeing as this thread was created shortly after that one, one would assume that it was not made for the same purpose, though as early as post 3 you see users not understanding that. Then you have The Expiring Codes Clearinghouse Thread, which is for GOG codes that have expiration dates, which are as of a certain point the codes received as part of mass giveaways here by those who already have the game in question. And you have Massive Giveaways (B)log, which was created just because of the confusion in this thread, and is specifically to point out massive giveaways on any site, not give away single games, in whatever way.
My understanding has always been that this thread was actually intended just for these massive giveaways but that, without a specific OP, it created confusion and is no longer needed now that we have specific threads for each of its potential purposes. Some agree with that, others disagree with part of all of it, either thinking it had multiple purposes and posting other things here too, or agreeing about its purpose but saying that just because this was always the pupose of this thread that new one is redundant and people should stick to this one. So, basically, if you post something here that's not a massive giveaway or if you post a massive giveaway both here and in the new massive giveaways thread, somebody's likely to complain.
