NuffCatnip: Seems like the purge has started.
I called it. Purge the threads, hand out bans.

toxicTom: Fact is also that the Chinese, who went through a lot of suffering, but also achieved a lot in the last years and decades, are genuinely proud of their country and leadership, and lack a sense of humour in that regard.

Mr.Mumbles: Must be nice to be brainwashed so completely. I can't imagine living in a country where one simple critique could put a person into so much deep shit. Hail, dictator Xi!
This. The notion that the chinese people, generally speaking, are proud of their leadership is not only false but utterly ridiculous. Xi Jinping is not even popular within the Chinese Communist Party itself. Quite the opposite, actually. There is a deep conflict with the Jiang Zemin faction.

Frank_Booth: Very weak move from GOG.

https://twitter.com/ZhugeEX/status/1337442173424459782

I think the tweet has nothing to do with it
There is however another very interesting one from that same guy (checked some of his earlier tweets), where he puts a screenshot of what he said he wrote a couple of days ago, in a nutshell :

CP2077 (CDPR) which is not yet licensed to be sold in China (where it seems to be really popular), could be banned by the government should there be any controversy, like, and he quoted, in and with Devotion.

Best to read the tweet to get exactly what he's talking about but seeing this, one could ask if we are dealing with a coincidence or a pattern...

I know that you have no power over this decision, but could you please make sure that the "power that be", in case they don't read the forum, are at least aware that their decision of cancelling this release is far from being very popular to say the least.

wolfsite: Steam also bent the knee to China so changing stores doesn't really solve the issue in this case.
avatar
Frank_Booth: Steam didn't removed the game. It was the developers. But we don't know what happend behind the doors.
Earlier in the thread a post was made that showed that Steam is working to change there client to appease Chinese censors, so they are guilty of kneeling regardless.

It's even sadder and more infuriating if you read what a labour of love this game was.

I would very much welcome GoG to bow to customers' wishes as fast as they kowtow to certain countries' leaders' supporters aka gamers.

Have a nice evening and don't take it personally. Not your fault what's going on after all. :-)

SmollestLight: keep the discussion about the game.
Just please make sure the higher-ups are aware of the feedback. (I assume so given that GOG's decision is trending on Twitter.) I encourage an un-rejection!
