I believe that it's also in Early Access on Steam; apparently that's not bringing in sufficient funding, hence the crowdfunding campaign.

At time of writing there's a free demo available on the game's website (it should be at this link); I've given it a quick play (I seem to be having some trouble on my Windows installation, I fear, and had some crashes that may have been either the game or my computer... :/), and I rather enjoyed what I saw. The movement feels good, the keyboard layout is effective, if perhaps a little cramped in places and the gameplay feels very like Magic Carpet. The aesthetic is rather different to Magic Carpet's--and rather lovely, I do think.

It's still rather early in development (I think that the current version number is 0.25), so it's a little rough in places, but I do like what I see thus far.

Phantasmal is on their final day, just shy of $2k from their funding goal.

Well, they didn't initially, so I asked in a PM to which they replied very promptly and updated the profile. It was swift and no waffling -- that in itself deserves some good word of mouth. =)

Agreed, a rapid response is equally good. There are two projects which have still not deigned to answer me, so they miss out on funding (or at least at the level where my question was relevant).

Just so I don't end up giving money to people who won't answer pertinent questions, what are these projects?

There are a few campaigns that looked interesting but didn't provide sufficient clarity in regards to their DRM stance. I'm not sure why any developer would think that people who are anti-DRM will pledge when they are basically saying 'maybe, if we feel like it, when the stars align just right.'

They created a FAQ and their answer about this is:

They didn't answer me directly, but they have been slowly amending their answer on the project page. It went from basically "we only care about Steam" to now "we are also considering Humble". Their commitment is too circumspect for my tastes.

I asked if the DVD reward would be available for my region, since I'm Region 1/NTSC and the project is being developed initially for Region 2/PAL. No answer, but I may still back at the lower digital download level, where I don't need to worry about DVD region encoding.
