It just won't stop growing.

Originally released in early 2011 - Terraria - the infinite pixel playground, receives yet another MAJOR content update. So major it could be an expansion pack, but it's not - it's free and it's four years in the making - because the developers love you so very much.

Terraria is an open-world platformer in which you build, mine, craft, and fight your way across big and diverse procedurally-generated realms. If you have yet to take your first baby steps in one of the most immense video games out there, this is a wicked good time to get your copy while it’s 25% off for the next 48 hours - that's until July 2, at 4:59 PM GMT.

The 1.3 Changelog is huge - it's over 20,000 characters long and includes new features like a fresh Expert mode, a photo/camera mode for the creative, new environments and enemies, and hundreds of gameplay changes and quality of life fixes like revamped town NPCs. Somewhere down the list of changes you'll also find a bullet point that mentions over 800 new items to discover. No biggie though.

Pick up your copy or grab the newest patch right now, and get lost, in the biggest sandbox adventure ever!
Of course, after I've built floating castles to protect my townspeople from invasions, now they fight :P

micktiegs_8: Do town NPCs fight? I've never made it to the point of having them, which is why I ask.

tinyE: They do now. My guide just blasted a slime. Very nice.

liamphoenix:
Yeah they can fight back, well most do. I have yet to see the nurse do anything but run around and heal injured NPCs and the Dryad casting this spell that looks sorta like Woodman's leaf shield from Megaman , but when it comes to some of the most nastier invasions such as the pirates which seemed to have gotten a buff in 1.3, the pumkin moon, the frost moon, ect. they are going to get slaughtered. In other words they can protect themselves from weaker threats such as slimes, floating eyes and zombies but much stronger threats like the Destroyer or the frost legion are going to make quick work of them but at least they go out fighting.

So keeping them in your floating castles may not have been a bad thing. Then again there is the alien invasion which has flying saucers..

I think there is an error in Changelog in Galaxy. It says version is 1.3.1, while true version is 1.3.0.1.
Nice! Thank you!! =)
Nice, hopefully we'll see the Mac and Linux version soon as well. It plays decently in Wine, but the performance tends to drop sometimes, and having a software-based mouse cursor (seriously?) make it really annoying. It's like I'm dragging the cursor along a rubber band. Why is it that people still make games with software cursors?

Those will be released in July.
Good job Re-Logic!

Foclock: Just bought the game!
RIP social life.

micktiegs_8: Did the guide have his own weapon or....did you give him one?
avatar
tinyE: He shoots arrows but it doesn't look like he's carrying a weapon. I would assume his supply is infinite.
He doesn't need a bow to use arrows. He's such a badass he just throws them :D

Awww... I'll get around to playing it myself - I just have stuff to do before I get addicted again. :D
Excuse my ignorance, I haven't played this yet, but from reading the changelog there is a heck of a lot of things going on in this game, so, where does one find a manual? Also, is it a single- or multi-player game?

This helped me, and if you look on there you will see a million sub categories. My best advice is just play and use the Wiki as you discover stuff. Trying to learn everything and then playing it would be waaaaay too damn hard. :P

Go to the "Getting Started" bit; read that over, then take it from there. Of course you can always ask one of us if you have a question.

Both.

I don't think there's a decent manual but you can check out the wiki which I don't recommend if you have never played this game before as it's much more satisfying figure things out on your own. You could read about the basics to get you started but otherwise, I woulld recommend try on your own.
