MechWarriors, assemble!

BattleTech, the Kickstarted take on tactical 'Mech combat by the creators of Shadowrun Returns, is coming soon, DRM-free on GOG.com.

It's 3025 and the world is being torn apart by conflict while an interstellar civil war is a-brewing. The only way to survive is by leading your own mercenary outfit of MechWarriors through this brutal power struggle between corrupt rulers and ambitious aristocrats. Customize your giant BattleMechs and pilots, keep them upgraded and fit for battle, then unleash them upon your enemies in turn-based skirmishes that might as well decide the future of this war-ravaged world.

tburger: Mechs are always welcome but I would rather see classic Mech-themed games
This IS a classic mech themed game. Battletech is an old "board game" with lore and over 50 novels about the universe.

The Mech Commander series and Omnitech you will find in the internet ;)

Edit: but the release will take awhile, as the beta for backers will start on June 1st.

I find it weird that people are talking about MechWarrior and MechCommander. This is a Battletech game, not a Mechwarrior or MechCommander game (featuring mechs obviously).

Has no-one played Battletech? Crescent Hawks Inception is one of my favourites games from that era.

I kickstarted this. Am looking forward to it (if it plays on my rig).
Maybe because Mechwarrior and MechCommander games are the most widely known pc adaptations of Battletech board game? Anyway they take place in the same universe and I think the events of the computer games are canon as far as Battletech storyline goes.

Does anyone know if this is a reboot of the Crescent Hawk's Inception or a completely new game?

*raises hand* played all, and even the shareware strategy game on the Amiga which simulated the board game best in former times.

Completely mew

wuerfelprinz: I backed this on Kickstarter. Can't wait for the beta :)

trusteft: 2. Oh, it's a strategy game, it looks like one more RTS.

wuerfelprinz: "One more RTS" ? What was the last good one that came out since Starcraft 2 ?

@ Grargar: They only just announced the partnership with Paradox today. All the creative stuff is still Harebrained Schemes' responsibility as far as I understand it, with Paradox only handling "marketing".
Who said I like Starcraft 1or 2?
Tiberian Twilight, Settlers 7, Supreme Commander 2, RUSE, Dawn of War 2, Anno 2070, Men of War, Naval War Arctic Circle, Sins of Solar Empire Rebellion, Assault Squad, Planetary Annihilation, Company of Heroes 2, Stronghold Crusader 2, Men of War Assault Squad 2, Ashes of Singularity, Cossacks 3, Homeworld Deserts of Kharak, 8 bit armies/hordes/invaders, are some since Starcraft 2 was released.
I don't even include games like Stellaris or any of the "Europa Universalis" type games.

Grargar: "Publisher: Paradox Interactive"

Time for some overpriced deluxe editions with no upgrade paths, exclusively on GOG!
Probably the most concise accurate review so far.

What we need is an ignore games list!

thank you!!! I thought maybe I had gone insane and those games didn't actually exist. :)
Definitely interested in this one. Wishlisted, and looking forward to seeing just what this game will offer when it hits the sale page.

Already kick started. Looking forward to beta testing.

Even if HBS do 1/2 as good as they did with Shadowrun, this will be agood game.
