MechWarriors, assemble!

BattleTech, the Kickstarted take on tactical 'Mech combat by the creators of Shadowrun Returns, is coming soon, DRM-free on GOG.com.

It's 3025 and the world is being torn apart by conflict while an interstellar civil war is a-brewing. The only way to survive is by leading your own mercenary outfit of MechWarriors through this brutal power struggle between corrupt rulers and ambitious aristocrats. Customize your giant BattleMechs and pilots, keep them upgraded and fit for battle, then unleash them upon your enemies in turn-based skirmishes that might as well decide the future of this war-ravaged world.

I`m really looking forward to this, but I`d really like an open-ended dynamic campaign system though.

The mercenary campaign is open-ended whereas the story-part is not. But you'll be free to do as many mercenary missions during and after your story playthrough as you like. HBS stated this multiple times on kickstarter and during monthly Q&As.
It's always nice to see more mech games on GOG! Do they have the full system requirements listed somewhere?
actually I think who ever made the moorpg mechwarrior game has a agreement with wiseman so he cant bring back MechWarrior as a single player game for a few years

here it is http://www.mwomercs.com/

I don't know what this is but might be what peeps are looking for http://www.mechlivinglegends.net/

Does anyone know if there will be asynchronous multiplayer? From what i've seen in videos, nothing in the game would prohibit this (as there is no reacting to anything in an opponents turn, if you're done, you're done till it's your turn again) from being implemented. Since I'm old and have kids I could never fit playing 2 hours straight in my daily schedule. Now if I just could do my turn which should take about 5 minutes even with careful planning, that would be totally awesome. I really love async MP in games like Chaos Reborn, Frozen Synapse or Hero Academy.

It will take some time, as the backer beta comes out on June 1st.

Oh... And there i was getting excited. One of those forget about it for a year kind of games...

LiquidOxygen80: It was a critical success, is fondly remembered by anyone who enjoyed Earthsiege property games and was probably one of the best, if not the best turn based tactical strategy mech games released during that period. IMO, the only reason it didn't sell as well was due to it not being Battletech. Slap a FASA logo on it back then and replace HERCs with Mechs, keep the customization options, and I have no doubt that not only would Cyberstorm have been a critical success, but a commercial one as well. It's an excellent game.

dudalb: To be honest, I pretty much wrote off the Earthsiege games as just another Battletech clone.
I don't blame you, a lot of people did, until Tribes became a big thing, and Sierra changed the title from Earthsiege to Starsiege. That said, Metaltech even sounds like a clone of Battletech, but the games themselves were still good.

radiant_monolith: GOG should ask Microsoft to put up the old Mechwarrior and Mechcommander games to coincide with this release.
They should ask Microsoft to put up much more games, not only these two. ;P
A shame Mechwarrior games are a stupid legal mess regarding licenses and even the original guys from FASA have problems to make games for the franchise. But well, that's what happens when you sell the IP and later MW rights go to a company that is using it to milk the fans with a seudo game full of promises to be also SP and not just a store to sell overpriced skins.

A real shame all this great games and this great franshise has ended this way but it's awesome that HBS can make this new Battletech game, wich i'm going to buy instantly no doubt, and i hope it to be a success and let HBS make more games. At least, we will have some good BT games DRM-Free.

MW5, on the other hand...i'm not confident that it will be a good game, a DRM-Free game (i really doubt this one) and a good SP game like was the rest of MW series. The company has made a good engine, but it's a shame the way they do the things.

Finally, i hope HBS remain strong to stop Paradox "advices" for prices and future expansions. I don't want a BT game with 150 overpriced mini-dlc's.

Go HBS!!

dav34: This new game is most definitely being released on PC, Mac AND Linux.

Its only the Backer beta thats not due to them being a small team, and putting out a beta on 3 platforms is too much .

ssokolow: Ahh. I assume they said that on Kickstarter? I haven't visited that place since they decided to remain silent when I asked them to rule on Stoic language-lawyering their promises for people who backed enough on TBS 1 to get TBS 2 and 3 too.

(I have a strong sense of ethics and morals and I just don't have the time anymore to be willing to commit to ensuring that people who try to cheat me wind up wasting more billable time dealing with me than the money they got from cheating me, so I just focus on my massive and ever-growing entertainment backlog and wait for things to drop to $5 US or lower... with discretionary exceptions up to $7.50 US)
Yes its on Kickstarter, but I had also read alot about the game on the HBS Battletech community forum too;

Omg, want.
I'm interested but we have been here before and I need to see it works past the "intro tutorial" before I take the next step
I watched the recent multiplayer video they put up. Doesn't look too shabby. I'm mildly excited. I need to see more of the full package singleplayer stuff though because that's what I'm really interested in.
