IAmSinistar: So it would seem, apart from the odd new bundle. As some folks are speculating, it appears GOG wanted to pip their competitors at the post by getting all the deals out first.

Check with your library about https://www.worldcat.org/ I've used it through my library a few times to borrow hard-to-find books

Wurzelkraft: I haven't read much in the sale threads yet so I don't know if GOG will continue recycling deals from now on but I hope they won't. Otherwise I'm done and spent already. :D
So far 685 games have been discounted at some point during the sale. That's a rather small number. I would expect at least 200 more, via new bundles and new individual games. For example, if I am not mistaken, this war of mine appeared for the first time only 4-5 hours ago. Also, we both know that a D&D sale is still pending.

I appreciate the compliment, but all I've got is a smattering of info from this, that and the other.
There are undoubtedly far more knowledgeable people.
Perfect example - I've purchased the entirety of the Heroes of Might and Magic series, but still haven't gotten around to playing them.

Don't be too hard on yourself, people tend to find comfort zones and stick with them, including their hobbies.
So long as you have the interest to try new things, your horizon will gradually expand as you find more items that appeal to you despite being of different genres.
Thank you for your reply, and for your suggestion via PM. I never made it back to the site before the deadline, so I will have to wait for Heroes until there is another sale. The discount wasn't great anyway - but the game you suggested via PMchat is one I have already, so I saved some money, and will play that one instead.

+1 - again, it's hard to find a post of yours that I haven't already upped.

Editing to say that this post went awol, so with the help of Lazarus, I have brought it back. Hope it doesn't now appear again to haunt me

A question: I have never played Heroes of Might & Magic - was thinking of splurging on one of them, while the sale is on, but it can be only one. From reviews I've read, it should be 2 or 3.

Thank you for your advice, much appreciated, especially as it isn't exactly easy for you to post at present. As I said above, I missed the sale in the end, but I've saved the good advice for next time. I'm sure those games will come up often.

Oh, they added <span class="bold">Toren</span> to the daily deals assortment. I think that game looks really pretty, but the reviews say that it's incredibly short. If it were 50% off, I might go for it. At 33% off, the money:time ratio is still too unbalanced. :(

Tekkaman-James: Cool! I haven't read that one. I may have to pick that one up sometime in the near future. The author's hypothesis seems to have many readers divided. If you've finished the book, what is your spoiler-free opinion on his take?
Okay, I'm nearly done with the book. I've gotten to the chapter where they "recreate" the events of the incident, but I'm not reading that yet until I get my copy of Dyatlov Pass Keeps Its Secret. I want to read the most objective take thoroughly before I start getting into pet theories.

But as the for the book itself, the parts I read (the chapters that cover the events of the past) were good reading. The style is very typical of the modern travel-disaster book, and there are loads of photographs that give you a feel for the people involved. The chapters set in the present seem more like the commentary track on a DVD - useful if you want all the behinds-the-scene stuff, but otherwise superfluous to the story itself.

I'll finish the book after I read the other one, but I wanted to let you know my general impressions of the overall style and content.

IAmSinistar: Glad to help, and if the weekend ends up going in the TBS direction, you could do worse than the Battle Isle/Kronos games. And while I've not played it yet, Expeditions: Conquistador gets consistently high marks from gamers. Probably will be the next one I play in that genre.
I have actually come extremely close to starting both of those at various points in the not too distant past.

We'll find out sooner or later. Hopefully there'll be some kind of further indicator when certain items are being put up for the last time.
