ZenWan: Thank you for all the work you're doing, Crow. All the more appreciated as you are not enjoying the sale.

A question: I have never played Heroes of Might & Magic - was thinking of splurging on one of them, while the sale is on, but it can be only one. From reviews I've read, it should be 2 or 3.
If you are still considering this, get 3! In my opinion even more refined and fun than the second one :-)
(and I started with three)

j0ekerr: Well it looks like Crow was right, the offers catalog is exhausted and we'll be getting repeats from now on. My dreams of different weekly 12 hour deals have been crushed along with those of purple unicorn rides.

Just Another Wallet: Since the Steam Summer Sale starts tomorrow, they are holding the D&D bundle, Blackwell games, Skulls of Shogun, maybe Mutant Mudds and Shovel Knight and some others that were not discounted yet for the rest of the sale.
If I had to guess, we will probably see the D&D bundle tomorrow and a small number of new single deals added every day until the last 2 days Encore. Not to talk about more new bundles and new releases. GOG's tweet mentioned 750+ games and they already discounted 650+, there are still +- 100 to be discounted. And that picture...What is seen cannot be unseen... :'(
Actually we had 715 so far, so maybe a couple of dozens left, but I doubt we get to a 100 more

Something must have gone awry with that query output - there were 670 games on the summer sale yesterday (580 singles + 90 in bundles). Maybe a few more had launch discounts and the like, unrelated to the summer sale, but I'm not sure how a total of 715 was possible.

(In fact, the query output for discounted post-2005 titles shows 388 items even today, and that's clearly wrong.)

Tekkaman-James: It certainly doesn't appear so. Have we reached the end of the rainbow so early?
avatar
IAmSinistar: So it would seem, apart from the odd new bundle. As some folks are speculating, it appears GOG wanted to pip their competitors at the post by getting all the deals out first.
Lucky me - I managed to track you both down in one post...

Unlucky me, my local library system isn't showing a copy of Dyatlov Pass Keeps Its Secret :( I've never missed on a book before with them so I'm a bit bummed.
I have a question to ask everyone...
WHAT CAN I GET FOR 2 CENTS?!?!

If I purchase the FPS bundle, my progress goes up to 19.98. Literally 2 cents short of getting the Stalker Clear Sky game for free! 0_o

Hey,

The cheapest game on GOG right now is probably Edna & Harvey: Harvey's new eyes (listed here for €0,99)

There was Journey of a Roach for $0.79, but not in today's list...

BlackThorny: First I must say the Heroes of Might & Magic series Are Strategies. Turn Based set in a fantasy settings [..]
Very nice summary of the HoMM series. I like it and hope you have time for a few questions.

I've only played HoMM 4 quite a while ago and enjoyed it a lot, up to the point where I got stuck in the campaign because I could not beat a level. I've also started to play HoMM 5 but didn't like it that much and abandoned it. I own the whole series on GOG now.

How is the difficulty and complexity of the other games compared to HoMM 4?
Would you still recommend me to (re-)start to play the series with HoMM 1?
I got myself the HOMM bundle and started playing the second game. I've only completed the first campaign scenario, and how many hours did it take me? I don't know, but it took a bit too long. It wasn't really difficult at all after I tried my luck a few times (losing my units) and then decided not to attack anything until I have a large army. Levelling up a hero, collecting artefacts, capturing mines, making troops.. it just took a *long* time. And of course none of the stuff you've invested time in would carry into the next scenario (shame).

I don't know if the game is slow, or if I'm just slow, but it felt like I'd spend the next few years playing this game if the rest of the scenarios aren't going to go faster. And I'd get bored quite soon. Or maybe it's just dosbox that is slowing me down?

Oh, there was a difficulty selection, wasn't there? If it had four difficulties, I probably chose the second easiest.

Fwiw the game didn't feel particularly complex. I skimmed through the manual though, just to have a rough idea. The rest came through trial and error. Actually trying to estimate the difficulty of a fight based on the foe types (which I weren't familiar with) and the vague quantifier was trickiest.

Nice, HOMM trash talk! :) Just kidding, but I'd love to hear what others think about ^

Never played myself (yet), but their reputations precede them.

I wrote that based on the number given by GOG in this post and the number written in GOG's tweet, but I mistook the Winter Sale tweet with the one from the Summer Sale. In their tweet they talk about 700+ discounted games, so I should have written at least +- 50. Still, are you sure your number is right? I haven't done the calculations, but Zeyes said 670 were discounted until yesterday which makes sense since 650+ games are mentioned in GOG's post from yesterday. 715 is more along the lines of what GOG announced for the whole sale (700+).

I think it's a low print-run title, and a specialist interest. You may need to ask them to shelve a copy.

It's GOG, a little bit buggy here and there. ;)
It still lists the discounted games from yesterday, which are not discounted anymore today.

Assuming we're talking about the same book, Amazon has plenty of copies of it in stock.
