redbook doesnt use briefing.ogg endgame.ogg or endlevel.ogg... but they must be listed on the sheet.
No worries, I got it all working just fine. Currently using the D2X-D2CDA.DXA addon for the audio and I use the option in D2X-Rebirth to use one track per level. Just wondering if this is the best of your files to use for this game.

On a different note, though, A_Future_Pilot mentions that you are working on a high res texture pack for Descent 1. Which file is this in your addons folder? I thought it would be D1XR-HIRES.DXA but that doesn't seem much different to the one provided in the D1X-Rebirth download, and doesn't seem to give high res textures in game, just the briefing screens and such.
Yeah, that's what it is. Just briefings and such (and maybe eventually a cockpit? ;) As far as I know, no one's embarked on a complete texture update...it'd be a pretty big project! lol

There is a high res texture pack for D2X-XL. I tried packing the tga files into a zip archive, renaming it DXA and placing it in the D1X-Rebirth folder, but it didn't pick any of the textures up.

Have to say, really liking DXX-Rebirth. Can't believe I only discovered Descent at the weekend. Sure I'd seen it listed before but I never really knew what it was like. Good thing I tried the shareware version. :)

Here is the link to various high res textures for use in D2X-XL.

Would be interesting to see if they can be made to work with DXX-Rebirth.

^^^ korell,

you can use whichever CDA soundtrack you like. each "pack" has slightly different versions/remixes of the songs. each pack is ripped from real CDs.

D2 CDA
D2 Mac CDA
D2 Maximum CDA
D2 Infinite Abyss CDA
D2 Vertigo CDA
D2 Definitive Collection CDA (an unofficial compilation of Infinite Abyss & Vertigo)

D1 HiRes in Rebirth means 640 res like D2. its mostly splash/briefing/background screens, and fonts. the unofficial D1 HiRes pack is complete & completed.

the hires HUD will eventually be a seperate project. thats all that is planned for Rebirth.

I had a look on your Mediafile page and there are only 5 CDA files.

D2X-D2CDA.DXA
D2X-D2IACDA.DXA
D2X-D2MACCDA.DXA
D2X-D2MAXCDA.DXA
D2X-D2VCDA.DXA

Looks like one is missing unless your Descent 2 CDA is actually the Definitive Collection CDA.

On a different note, is there a way of having your Descent 2: Maximum missions addon not replace the Counterstrike game? I don't mind losing the main menu change, but having it is another choice would mean no more changing around of the files. To get around this at present I'm using this version:

http://www.enspiar.com/dmdb/viewMission.php?id=705

But this also loses the escape movies at the end of each level. However, it has been updated more recently.
^
updated the site with the Defintive Collection CDA.

the D2 Maximum AddOn pack is just so you can play the mission with all the bell's and whistles. suggested you run a 2nd installation of D2 if you want to keep it that way. if not... the regular mission pack works fine. (i helped work on the update actually)

:)

my site doesnt have the Defintive Collection CDA, A_Future_Pilot's site does.

Cool, I'll have to go find that last CDA then.

For the mission pack, I did try a second installation but didn't like having to keep quitting and reloading just to switch between Counterstrike and Maximum, so I've gone with the mission pack files for now. Just wondering if there is a way to enable the escape movies for mission pack files.
OK, original post updated! Changed the link to Descent Maximum to Ryusei's version. Also updated the LOTW pack and fixed the link to The Enemy Within.

Btw, the Definitive Collection soundtrack is in the original post by rs_tsyu. And remember, all of these are in addition to the ones that can be downloaded from the installer or the main Rebirth site.

Just checked out your new LOTW. Some other files have disappeared (.wav files mostly, but also a .dat and .sts I think). Are they not required?

Also, is bdrome10 fixed now as it is still in your archive?

EDIT: Oh, and stick.hog/rdl has been removed from your new version, but I didn't think that was a broken mission.

^ wav dat & sts files arent needed. (they were part of the DLOTW frontend)

Many thanks to both ThugsRook and A_Future_Pilot. With your help I've got my DXX-Rebirth ports working great with the CD audio (fantastic find for the D1 Mac CDA on ThugRook's Mediafire site) and the additional levels. Only been playing D1 and D2 for a week, can't believe I missed out on them all these years. And now D3 is on sale. Quite tempting.
The site hosting Vertigo is down, is there anywhere else where I can download it?
Long story as to the server hosting all that...Short version is I'm trying to find a backup somewhere, and if I can't I'll just have to re-scour the interblag and find everything again :/
Links are fixed! Whew! My brother had a copy on my old computer that I gave him :)
I'm just posting to thank you A_Future_Pilot and your buddies over at the D1X-Rebirth-forums.
I've been playing Descent for almost 20 years now so it got old a little over time. Sometimes i downloaded a mission or another, but basically it was First Strike with the basic MIDI-Soundtrack all the time. Now I've got a huge bunch of new missions and I'm starting to feel the excitement again that i felt as a little kid.
