Wasteland 3

Great game, imo. The turn-based combat is a blast--difficulty levels range from "I don't have to look at the screen to win the fight" levels (well, that's slightly exaggerated), to levels that make you moan with frustration. RPG story is deep and nuanced and responds nicely to the choices you make--there are many multiple-ended quests that turn on your decisions. Practically every encounter offers multiple consequences for your actions and decisions. Even better, this game has already received major upgrades since it launched, and inXile says there's more to come. Basically, the game has Legs. If all you want is simple click-mouse combat you'd better look elsewhere as this game delivers far more than that. It's the kind of game you can sink your teeth into for a long time. Not for the bang-bang-you're dead crowd--it's not a first-person shooter, thankfully, or I wouldn't have bothered with it. (Wasteland 2 isn't comparable, imo--to say it's "better" than W2, while true, does a disservice to W3.) You can scum save all you want or not at all--the choice is the player's, which is the way it should be! This one should be in your library. I'm glad it's in mine!

The story is full of good old fashioned gallows humor, morally gray situations, and entertaining characters. Combat and itemization are great, though you may want to turn the difficulty up if you're thorough because you get pretty OP by the end. Great UI and QOL touches. Very reasonable length (not too short, not overwhelming). Recommended for any RPG fan.

I played 50 hours with all assigned sidequests done, and all in all it's a pretty solid AAA title and as of the current version I didn't experience any bugs. I totally get the new simplified and shared inventory and its logic works just fine; I don't see why folks complain about it. Gameplay was a solid 5. However, what makes it overall a 4/5 was some really unexpected storyline stuff like the solutions to the Gippers and Valor being pretty unlikely/unpredictably dumb and the fact that stealth not always works, with area triggers that opens dialog and the bad guys might get the jump on you no matter how stealthy you were. Overall, I recommend this game on wastelander difficulty with friendly fire on and permadeath on. It's a good challenge but it won't be impossible.

I have to say I really enjoyed the game. Loading the game through GOG. Zero issues. Load times between scenes, fast. I only had one crash during my entire run through the game and I think it was because I had something else running at the same time. Character creation is simple and interesting. You can make some really odd combinations. Beginning quest takes you through most of what you need to know. Storyline makes sense and you have to make hard choices. Morally, what is best, Economically what is best. Politically what is best, etc and they do not coincide with each other. Great Game.

Combat looks good and feels satisfying, the writing has improved over the previous games in the series. A lot of the current complaints (like camera and key configuration) are the kinds of things that this developer has a history of hearing and fixing so I'm not too worried.
