Seems most streamers also have a grudge against these two in particular. :-D

nightcraw1er.488: It’s not great. Graphically ok. Ammo is virtually non existent. No pistol. No reload. Even weapons seem to switch automatically. Chainsaw is useless. Flamer is useless. Spider demon appears in first level and is super hard to kill, more so than all the other beasts. Most enemies stagger and stay then come back, meaning you have to go for glory kills. Thankfully it doesn’t have much of the “story” elements that were so bad in wolfenstein. It’s also very much mario is given a couple of limited weapons to battle hell. Finally got to ship for some upgrades, doesn’t seem to be anything worth writing home about, was struggling to find a tune which would help me.
May give it a bit more time, but for me 4-5 out of ten, worse than 2016.
Oh, and don’t forget forced Bethesda account.
I thought wolfenstein was a better shooter, though very slow and dragging interludes, “go fetch welder”, “go find folder” etc.
Same as doom 2016 you HAVE TO go in for glory kills or they don't go down.

Id software went sh!t after todd hole-in-his-head flogged them off to Bethsoft for a song Considering CARMACK hated him afterwards for it, Carmack basically INVENTED FPS!

Doom 3 (NON BFG edition) was Carmack's opus!

I don't know what game you're playing but the chainsaw is essential, not useless. Ammo counts are kept low on purpose to force you to use the chainsaw for ammo refills. Glory kills do not give you ammo, only health.

Ammo counts are kept low in an FPS?

Yes, but you get multiple weapons & can refill the ammo quickly enough with chainsaw kills and via the other ammo pickups.

PimPamPet: Installing this thing takes forever.
Why do you think they named it Eternal? ;)

GameRager: how is VEGA still around/alive? And how did the doom marine get free?
Before destroying Vega, Doomguy made a backup on a (usb) stick.
You were teleported by that robot-cyborg-dude-thingy on the fortress of doom ship.

Also, you feel that you have no ammo, or ammo is scarce and you don't like chainsawing often?
Then invest your sentinel crystals in ... ammo doh ;)

At the end of DOOM 2016 Hayden(cyborg) had you in some sort of restraints and wasn't teleporting the doom marine anywhere(though maybe I missed it).

I don't feel that way(others do), but i'll keep that in mind(haven't gotten that far yet).

I wonder why. :D

Imho: Marauders are way too defensive and kill the flow of the game. Doom is all about speed, why they created this enemy type like this is beyond me.

I guess don't like the Whiplashes, because I haven't found a good strategy against them yet, Micro Missiles and the shotgun seem to work, but for me it's somewhat of a coin toss wether or not I take a truckload of damage against them.

You have to pickup fuel for the chainsaw, I use it once or twice and it is out of fuel. Fuel I have only seen a couple of cans for. Why should I need to use some awkward construct to get ammo which also breaks the flow of the game. In fact everything breaks the flow. I took the quick stagger kill rune (only one that seemed to have any use) just to speed up that annoying break. What next stopping the flow to floss over a dead demon. It’s all too fortnitighty to be good I am afraid. Also, further bits, having to hit a certain part on the beasts to get more damage, they move so quick and your moving so quick, your lucky to hit them at all, even with fully automatic shotgun or rifle let alone that tiny area for extra damage.
It’s not totally bad, just spoiled by certain design choices.

Chainsaw has one use that recharges, you don't need fuel to use it. And yes, the game is designed around you chainsawing to recharge ammo pretty frequently. If you say that's a bad design decision then fair enough, but you said it is "useless," which is objectively not the case. If anything it's too useful.

They do go down, but the safety catch is really annoying and flow killing if you just want to shoot stuff to death instead of going for a "super awesome gory look at how cool this is" finishing animation. You can either press a button or have to shoot them a decent amount to finish them. It is the thing I hate the most about new Dooms. Things just don't die when they should.

Tried doing the "Kill a Mancubus with the pistol" challenge in Doom 2016. I had no upgrades for it and to kill him I had to force him into stagger state 4 times before he actually went down just by shooting him. If you don't want to glory kill and just kill them off normally but don't do enough damage quickly enough, they just recover and get some HP back which is really annoying.

Yeah, you can get the upgrades that make glory kills really fast and you can get better weapons that make them less necessary, but in the end you're gonna have to do them relatively often no matter what. It's just how the games were designed. Most people like it or are okay with it, but some people hate it and I get that.
I'm getting Mario vibes from the flaming spinning chains.
Late game just throws endless tough enemies at you constantly, forcing you to glory kill and chainsaw even more than the early game did to keep up. Also Marauders are horrible enemies straight out of a melee combat game, and don't fit with the genre. I thought reviews were silly at first for complaining about them, but no they really are terrible.

Doom 2016 was a way better game to my memory. Struggling to finish this one and probably going to lower the difficulty and just burn through it.
I was super excited and hyped for this game. The extra several months they took to design it, made me feel it was going to be what I needed to get back into the FPS genre.

I streamed some on twitch and did not enjoy myself. I ended up having to calm down with Animal Crossing because I was so geeked out and not in a good way.

I'm not very far in, but for me personally, I do not like the fact that DE takes all the elements of shooters I dislike and force feeds them to me. I was expecting evolvement of 2016. What I got was Super Doomrio with about the same amount of weapons, or at least that's what it feels like.

I used part of my work bonus for this and then immediately had to take self quarantine the next day because I started having symptoms. My money could have gone to better use, like toilet paper or water. I do not personally care for this game and probably never will. Like stinging, I'm probably just going to crank it down to the easiest difficulty and burn through the story to attempt to get my money's worth.

As it is a gamestop purchase, there is no refund for pc games via gamestop. If I'd be patient and gotten it on steam, I could have refunded it. I guess I got taught a lesson the hard way.

At least ESO is still fun...
