I had fun playing Doom2016 so I'm considering it, however, Project Brutality / Brutal Doom is a whole different experience.

Speaking of Brutality, there's Brutal Hexen, and Brutal Strife for those that liked those games, there's even an RPG version: https://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=65691
I'm planning on buying Doom Eternal on Steam. Big fan of Doom 16 and the sequel looks even better.
low rated
i dont like doom, but did buy the last one for $20 just because. watched eternal gameplay and it looks really generic compared to 2016.
time to bring back quake

It's okay to like more than one type/style of game. It's okay to like old school shooters like Doom but still like modern versions of the old games like Doom Eternal. Not everything needs to be a competition and we, as gamers, can buy more than one game per year and play more than one game per year.

Sadly I doubt my laptop's GTX 1050 TI can run it but hopefully I will be able to afford a new PC later this year.

sure you could run it just fine bro. in fact i heard its even a smaller filesize than 2016. doom 2016 can run on nintendo mobile hardware, you can run eternal.

Guess my opinion isn't so unique after all.

I know you're meming, but besides this I've bought DOOM almost at full price but still can't wholly and reasonably recommend it. Besides this, you're on GOG, which is like the "Video Game Boomer" heaven that is almost build entirely out of id-software and any other old game love.

I've also fixed your post. There is a reason why many devs nowadays jump on the franchise necro bandwaggon and we see games such as Homeworld and Psychonaut are coming back. The reason why its a meme is because its also partially true and it applies to basically every old video game franchise ever made as well. Thats where a lot of money is at. Love it or hate it, but this sort of oldschool (boomer) love for older game is a huge driving force and its where a lot of money is at.
I want to get it, but it's a little too expensive for me, I'll have to wait again
In case you missed it:
Bethesda apparently broke its own Denuvo protection for Doom Eternal - Bethesda Launcher version included DRM-free executable in folder named "Original"

I got Doom 2016 with my RX480 card, but this time I'm considering pirating it. Not going to support their cheap DRM tricks anyway...

67MB exefile vs 370MB (with Denovo) is insane!

I'm dying to play it, but I am not going to pay 200 BRL on it. :(

Considering it's Bethesda, about 6 months or a little more until it's 50% off. Fingers crossed.
Exactly as I predicted, everything I disliked about 2016 is still present.

Dependence on glory kills to heal and get ammo - now the piñatas have even more colors!!!! The amount you get also still depends on your current state. Low health? A single glory kill will give you half your health. High health? Here are 4 hit points...

Checkpoint only saving - seriously, come on... You achieve nothing by preventing people from saving manually, at least out of combat.

Enemies still enter a forced stagger state most of the time to offer a glory kill instead of just dying outright.

Difficulty still means mostly just inflating numbers but I guess you have no other option when resource management is a non-issue.

Armor is still just a second health bar. What is the point then? Just add it to the base health and be done with it.

Still waiting for Serious Sam 4 :/.

Installing this thing takes forever. Fortunately I still have a hard copy.

I will buy doom 2016 eventually when it comes on gog.

But the doom eternal collectors edition is too cool to be bought digital only.
so much interesting stuff in the collectors edition.
From videos I've seen it seems to be a great game.
I am thinking of buying in the future when it is cheaper.

The people who hated glory kills, gamey stuff like the ammo drops and limited ammo will hate this game a LOT more because it doubles down on all that stuff. You have to be into what Doom 2016 was going for to like this sequel, rather than liking it despite that stuff. One nice thing is that this should instantly let anyone know if the game is for them, based on how they liked 2016.
