Irresponsive controls bring it down.

Really enjoyed it up until a point. Great graphics and sound, voice acting is charming. Story is alright, I guess. But the there were far too many moments where I was shouting that I had hit the right buttons to complete a challenging platform section and the game just randomly decided it wasn't going to register and I either wound up at the bottom of a pit or stuck some place. I eventually rage-quit near the end. Whatever lies at the end of this rainbow isn't worth the amount of janky gameplay to see.

Butcher

Hard to see.

I nabbed this on sale because I loved Carrion so much. Unfortunately, while the gameplay is rock-solid, with easy-to-learn, tight controls; the character sprites are far too small for me to be able to see them clearly. Add on that most of the levels take place on a pallete of greys with ocassional splashes of primary colors, and I found my guy blending into the backgrounds too much. It's a shame, I really liked the idea of a Broforce for the ultra-hardcore crowd.

CARRION

Be the bad guy!

Loved it! Fantastic animations and a great concept. I finally get to embrace the vile, tentacled bio-terror inside me! Love how the game wears it's Thing, Alien, Abyss inspirations on it's many tentacled sleeves. Only a few criticisms. Mainly: Not having a map can be really frustrating, especially when you're trying to collect all the extra abilities. Second main complaint: The controls aren't always great. I tried with both a controller as well as mouse/keyboard and, though I preferred the mouse controls, neither was perfect. The controller was harder to grab and swing things with accuracy, and the mouse would end up sending my abomination in the wrong direction on occasion, sometimes to my death. Really would have preferred being able to control the monster with the WASD and aim it's appendages with the mouse as an option at least. Finally: It's pretty short. A first time playthrough took about 5 1/2 hours. Not much longer to 100%. Maybe there will be an expansion/dlc or a sequel in the near future because it seems the game is doing pretty well. Only time will tell.

Not a Hero

Doesn't work on modern rigs well.

Bought this on a much older PC. It played fine then. On the new one, it glitches, crashes, and most annoyingly, doesn't support fullscreen. Why the devs couldn't have resolution choices in the options, one of the absolute most basic features in gaming is beyond me. I had fun playing it on the old rig. But I can't recommend anybody play it today if you don't want to squint at a 1280x800 window. Disappointing.

Nightmare Reaper

A perfect example:

This is why I hate Rogue-likes. You get a good run; maybe you get lucky and score a good weapon; you get killed for some BS reason; then you are supposed to keep trying and dying until you power-up enough progress further. It's a glorified grindfest. I knew it was over for me when I went into a boss fight with full health and ammo; only to run out of ammo 7/8ths the way through it's health bar. I couldn't do anything. The game didn't spawn anymore ammo drops. That's just lousy game design. Inefficient ammo supply for a boss in an FPS? Not even Operation Body Count made that mistake. That personal gripe aside: The game just isn't intriguing enough to want to keep going. The 8 bit graphics can be a bit of an eyesore. The shooting isn't extremely satisfying. Most of the weapons I got hold of were mostly boring. Dare I say this? This is probably the WORST Andrew Hulshult soundtrack I've heard. Of all the retro shooters that have been coming out over the last few years (Dusk, Amid Evil, Ion Fury, ect.): this is probably the worst one (except for Strafe). Even in early access, I just don't see it getting much better because the core of everything is just so subpar. I recommend you skip this one.

Anomaly Warzone Earth

Boring and repetitive.

None of these games are ever fun after an hour or two. I say pass.

Hello Neighbor Alpha Version

Pointless.

This is about as bad of a demo as I've ever encountered. It's basically just the house and the stalker. But there isn't anywhere to really go, or anything to do. It pales to the trailer which promises a lot, so why offer so little to get people interested? Well, I'm turned off. Won't be buying this one.

The Park

Just keep your expectations low.

What ever happened to reviewer HitoZeto happened exactly to me! Practically verbatim! Is that part of the design? Weird. Once I finally got past the weird controls, the the story wizzed by in practcally no time. About 75 minutes in fact. Others have been pretty harsh on this one, I wasn't expecting a whole lot, I picked it up on sale for like a dollar. It was a generally entertaining "walking simulator" that felt like a interactive psychological horror movie. In that regard, I've played a lot worse. I say if you find it on sale and keep your expectaions of what you're getting to that of a short, narrative-driven experience, you shouldn't be disappointed.

Dustforce DX

Not even gonna...

I will NOT play a game that requires me to register/login. Who do they think they are, Bethesda? I won't log into any of their games either. Won't even let me try out the tutorial. I'm not logging in as a "guest". I'm just a guy who purchased a video game and is now regretting every cent spent. Goodbye HITBOX TEAM! You're on my $h!Tlist forever now. DELETED.
