    Description

Indivisible is an action RPG platformer featuring stunning hand drawn art and animation combined with unique real-time combat mechanics.

Immerse yourself in a fantastical world with dozens of playable characters, a rich storytelling experience, gameplay that’s easy to learn but difficult to master, and the trademark razor-sharp quality that Lab Zero Games is known for!

Our story revolves around Ajna, a fearless girl with a rebellious streak. Raised by her father on the outskirts of their rural town, her life is thrown into chaos when her home is attacked, and a mysterious power awakens within her.

The game’s huge fantasy world, characters and aesthetic design are inspired by various cultures and mythologies. Throughout Ajna’s quest she’ll encounter many “Incarnations”: people whom she can absorb and manifest to fight alongside her.

There are many Incarnations to recruit, each with their own story and personality. By uniting people from faraway lands, Ajna will learn about herself, the world she inhabits, and most importantly, how to save it.

    Almost.

Indivisible is a labor of love. I cannot imagine how hard the development team worked on this, despite their relative size and resources. The art direction, animation, and controls are exquisite. Personality and atmosphere ooze from every orifice. Yet those qualities alone do not make for a gratifying experience. In Indivisible's case, the game has basic design issues preventing it from fufilling its premise. It was initially pitched as a hybrid between MetroidVania, platformer and RPG. In reality, it just feels like an overlong platformer with a better intrepretation of the combat system from Valkyrie Profile. The narrative also hamfists a lot of character development into small periods of time, along with providing minimal exposition. While the supporting cast mostly compliments the environment and tone, the main character Ajna is depicted unevenly. She begins as an unlikeable brat, remains more or less that way for two-thirds of the story, then transforms into someone entirely different. There are simply too bends in her arc for it to feel substantive. Thankfully this issue is somewhat mitigated by the polished voice acting. Ultimately, Indivisible is interesting but flawed.

Nice game but Not for everyone

First, if you are bad at platform action, turn around and move on. This game certainly test your patient to progress in hard area, because you will have to repeat many times if you fail and that happens too often. Plus game is forcing you to be on linear path for too long. If you are expect about metroidvania, probably not going to like this. Just because animation and characters are great to look, that doesn't mean game mechanic is nice too..

Hard to Recommend, It's pretty Niche

This game is done really well, but it's not for everyone. It borrows elements from fighting games, RPGs, 2D Platformers and Metroidvanias, but doesn't excel at any one of them. The blend is confusing, and the story is a Saturday-morning Anime, but I love this game. It's endearing and I pulled the full 31 hours to 100% it (based on Acheivements). I don't think I'll return to it, but I enjoyed it start to finish. It took about 7 hours before it clicked for me and I was hooked. Words of advice if you want to give it a try: • you have to just give up exploration until Act 3 of the game's story. • don't worry if you have Ringsels out of sight, the game teases you with them for later • don't fret when you're soft-locked from returning to a path you wanted to explore • always talk to Razmi

    Started great, ended the worst

Characters you grow to really like and know, an excellent art style, a new type of combat system with added plat forming....it seemed really great at the beginning. The middle was a slog, but still enjoyable. Deeply regretted some time wasted just getting to places I needed to go due to a good fast travel system. The last part was simply the worst. The controls for the platforming are not solid, with too many things bound too close together on the controller. I’ve played through Hollow Knight, Celeste, and Katana Zero. Those were excellent at platforming. This made me want to throw my controller in frustration when up + Y got interpreted at down + Y for the umpteenth time. Also I had to look up way too many things about where to go and how to get there in the last part. Too many new skills are introduced late in the game, so many you forget that X thing that was used once needs to be used now to get into the final section, etc. Loved the first part, but only stubbornness kept me going till the end and I’m not sure I’d recommend it.

    Close but no Cigar

This is a game with a beautiful art style and some innovative mechanics that just don't work well together. It attempts to combine a JRPG style interface with a fighting game combo system which is probably its main selling point outside of the wonderful artwork, however the excess fighting game mechanics does take its toll on the platforming components where too often attack moves get in the way of movement, this in combination with some poor camera work creates some rather unenjoyable platform sessions. Another issue with mixing the combo system with a JRPG style progression is the enemy health, this is a game that simply does not respect your time, and soon fights are something you almost want to avoid as gaining XP from fighting mobs are nearly pointless in the grand scheme of things. Finally the writing...oh boy. This is where the disappointment really starts to stack up. I understand the decision to have many support characters as a way of allowing the playing to pick their favourite team combos, but this really does spread things too thin, and its truly a disservice to the individual characters when it comes to their character arcs. It would have been significantly better to limit the number of support characters to maybe 5 and just flush out their stories, give them a bit more growth, rather than just being one dimensional tropes. All in all, this is an interesting game with many flaws I'd say buy in on discount, but definitely not worth full price.
