Capsized

One of those titles...

This is one of those games I could tell I hated it within 5 minutes of gameplay. the zoomed out picture causes me to squint to see where my character is. But the real problem lays in the floaty, sloppy, irresponsive controls. Your guy flings around like an a$$hole the entire duration and switching form keyboard to controller does nothing to alleviate the discomfort of simply moving around as you get swarmed by low-tier first level enemies who mercilessly pound on the the player as you struggle with the awful aiming crosshair. This one should have never made it past the early development phase. The devs must of seen they had a dud on their hands from day one.

NeuroVoider

Not another one.

I have really come to despise the rogue-like-rogue-lite-rogue-ish (whatever) genre. If I had a dollar for every one of these dull, boring, sarcasm-driven, hipster-ass games cranked out by any and every 2-bit developer I'd be a very rich man. This is among the very worst. Slow, dull, and pretty freaking ugly to look at on top of it's slow dull gameplay. The aiming is the worst culprit, on an analog controller it still feels like you're only aiming in 8 directions, it's jerky too. The overheating/reloading element, JUST STOP HAVING IT IN RUN N' GUNS! IT'S NOT STRATEGIC! It's an annoying waste of time. I never had to deal with that crap in Smash TV! It this game didn't have really good music, I'd have nothing nice to say.

NecroVision

Garbage FPS that wastes it's potential.

My first impression of this game was "What a novel concept! How come this series isn't more known?" Then I played the game and found out why. This game is like a helicopter parent. It holds your hand for everything it doesn't need to and then it ignores you when you really need it to give you a clue. Ugly and poorly designed levels that feel like they're on rails up until you need to retrieve something important and then suddenly you have no clue where to look. Had to reinstall the game because it randomly decided it didn't know how to change weapons on command. Clunky as hell combat controls that are difficult to tell if you're really doing any damage to some enemies. Bosses with vague and unrepresented weaknesses that baffle the player. This game wastes a brilliant premise, WW1 setting with Lovecraftian horror elements and completely wizzes everything down it's leg within the first 2 levels. Just an awful, awful experience. Massive letdown. I hear the sequel is better.

Humans Must Answer

BROKEN!

Took forever to install, then never ran. Take forever to uninstall, have to close Galaxy because install tab wouldn't activate. Re-start Galaxy, try to install, never installs. Try downloading direct from GOG. Exe never starts. Won't let me uninstall with GOG installer. Have to uninstall it by deleting every file related to it and updating my registry. There is no way in hell this game is anywhere near fun enough to justify all this madness. 1/5 for incompetence.

Pathologic 2

SNOREFEST!

Simply one of the most boring games I've ever encountered in my life. Just walking from place to place is so slow and cumbersome I couldn't even stand to tolerate it anymore. I don't even know how difficult or frustrating the gameplay is because it's just so damn boring. Waste of money for zero entertainment.

Bombshell

Overpriced and broken.

Ditto to what the others say about it being a buggy mess. I thought I was doing something wrong until I watched a youtube video and found out that the game had failed to trigger an event that left me trapped in the same area indefinitely. Made worse by the auto-save that doesn't let me go back to a previous save. So the only option was to start over from scratch. Not worth it for this game, it's not that fun. I can't believe the publisher's thought this was worth 35 bucks. 10...maybe. Probably still return it anyway.

Enter the Gungeon

Not very good.

Not as much fun as people have been telling me. You don't get a lot of powerups or items during runs. The dodging mechanics aren't very good. The weapons you get when you get them aren't very interesting. There's no way to keep any of the stuff you find or set up your own loadout. Available characters aren't fun to play. Also, if I walk into a room and instantly get hit by a walking bomb I'm gonna SCREAM!

Fight'N Rage

Should have more.

I really like the aesthetic. Characters are well designed and the sprites are well animated. Music is fantastic. Yet somehow, I feel let down by this one. The button mashing and sometimes annoying amount of enemies on screen that sometimes block view of your character just becomes...boring after a fairly short while. After I finally slogged my way through the final boss, who is annoying ashell BTW, I found the game has multiple endings and I just couldn't bother caring to go and see them because I knew it would just mean more boring button mashing. I love arcade beat'em-ups. Final Fight, Streets of Rage, TMNT, ect. They're repetitive, true, but rarely boring. This game attempts to conjure memories of those games, but somehow overdoes it on the redundancy and becomes more of a chore than fun. I'd say pass on this one unless it's on sale and you have no other beat'em-ups in your collection to play.

STRAFE: Gold Edition

Play Immortal Redneck instead.

There are many reviewers who are much better than I who will point out the lack of cohesion in slapping procedural generated levels together. The un-enjoyable gunplay. The unimaginative enemies. The flaws are pointed out in much greater detail. What I can tell you is...this game is BORING. After 15 minutes I was just plain tired of it. I gave it a few more tries, than got so tired by how dull everything was, I was just done. If you want a rogue-lite FPS with well designed levels, imaginative enemies, and weapons and powerups that are fun to mess around with, play Immortal Redneck. It does everything this game promised but better. I pity the poor fools that backed this on Kickstarter, there is no way this was worth the two year wait.
