I love XXL2 but when I played XXL3 I noticed one thing: it was really different from the previous one. Not in a bad way (the ambient puzzles are great, combat system is not fun like the previous game because there are no combos) just really different. XXL3 is not just a fun game, it has also the same feeling of the old cartoon and comics of Asterix&Obelix (even more than the previous XXL2 game) and it's also really challenging. There are many thing that could be improved in this game but I think that, for a small game with a small budget this is a good result.
Really interesting game with lot's of interesting gameplay mechanics, an interesting story and a not perfect but still good good/evil system. The main limit of this game is the lenght... too long for the actual content, in the first part you really want to go on with the game, but by the end you just really want to finish it as soon as possible. Also there are weapons that are too good and weapons that are too bad... the sword is really bad compared to shied and lance. I like the idea of a gameover only after multiple death explained by the story, and also the ability to ignore good people advice and do evil things without any consequences. Try to if cheap.
If you like platform, donald duck (ops... maui mallard), difficult old games with amazing soundtrack this is for you. This is the best PC version of the game, and it include a manual. It works really good (much better than the original cd version). The only real "problem" is to exit the game... At least I don't really know how, I just alt+f4 every time I need to exit the game (and the game actually ask if you want to exit so maybe this is the way to exit). Remember to get more coins during the game so that you can actually get a password to skip to level X without do every times the game from scratch (you can still find passwords on the internet if you can't). Also remember to read the manual, sometimes it's a life saver.
And I love it, the problem it does not work on modern system and there is no widescreen support. This version fix everything and it's also a great start for the new promised game XXL3. It's also a day one drm-free release on gog. 2 things, right now there is no mac version on gog for some reason (while there is on steam), the game page on gog is also wrong about italian audio, like the original game there is the italian audio on the game. What's so good about the game? It's a good mix of platform, beat'em and good music that you will not forget for a while. Combo and jokes. It's not short and not long. It's silly but with a good story. And it's Asterix & Obelix of course (with a really good dub the same of the cartoon, at least for the italian language). Just buy and play it!
A really great and awesome story, with a good gta style gameplay. There are a few bugs but to fix them you just need to reload the save. I'm glad this game is back as digital release.
Only in the beginning. At first I loved this game, but like most puzzle game that I played after few levels it start to be really difficult and not fun to play. When you start you need to complete same really clever puzzle and the story it's ok... but when you try to play for more the story will begin to make no sense and you will need to do things multiple times because you start to die and, even if you know how to do a puzzle, bad controls will be on your way. But I dropped it after a magnetic dog was unlocked... It was already difficult to do some puzzle without worring about a stupid dog that is always on your way when you want to do a puzzle without it... And when you need to use, it it's a nightmare (it's difficult to put that dog in the right spot while you are moving). 2 stars because I like the idea of a puzzle game that use magnetic force... but I usually finish every game I start (even if I get them for free like in this case), and I could not finish this one. If you really want to play it I suggest you to just play until you get that damn dog... Until that point it's a 3-4 stars game, and you will still get some hours of fun. After that point I really cannot recommend this game.
