...How many time I need to install, play more than a little, then quit 'cuz you bore me? Story and setting could be fine, but gameplay? Man, it's... good... probably for some even great... but it's too... casual. No real vision if not implemeting things tipical of cyberpunk without going deeper. Still, I know I will pick it up again for it's a really good looking game (if only the content were a little more... more)
... and, again, quite an interesting way to combine storytelling and gameplay (or at the very least, in some part). Gameplay wise, Call of Juarez is perhaps the most straight forward out of the three (I'm pretending that Cartel doesn't exist) with colts, rifles and dynamite on the center of the action, and already the game provides a nice pace of action, despite being basic. But the thing that keeps you playing will be the story... or, at least, in the creative way they used the E.A. Poe's technique of presenting unreliable narrator in order to shape the game as it goes on, directly while playing! ...Yes, it's not unique, or mind-blowing, but it is nice touch, and combine with all the others (graphics, gameplay and settings) manages to give quite the worthy experience for the FPS fans and the Call of Juarez aficionado out there!
The second instalment of the saga, bound in blood, is arguably the best of the three ( Cartel is not worthy of mention) with an even more enticing story than the first one and a solid gameplay. Yup, the game looks even better than the first (not just for the better graphic engine, which would be normal, being a prequel - sequel, but for the design choices... Sometime, I stopped playing just to look at the rendition of the open desert of the ol'west by techland) and way more intriguing stories, well thought out, full of western cliché but never boring, and very mature (and not just for shock value but with actual meaning) To be perfectly frank, I'm not giving the full score of 5 stars just because of some minor technical defect and for the ''stealth'' section with Thomas (one of the two character you can choose) which are almost non existent. So...Yup, hear the call and go play this game. Even after all these years, it still holds up to the test of time!
Sounding ''YES''. As ImmSimm go, System Shock 2 is perhaps one of, if not The Most refined out there. Welp, It is basically the actual father of the Genre (or the best example of the philosophical game's design called ImmSimm... Man, I'm not getting in that argument) and should not need ANY introduction. So, I won't wasting time explaining what the game is or does, 'cuz if you are still one of the few lucky one who can experience it for the first time, you should not think of it as a ''Game'' (nothing wrong with that definition) but as an ''experience''. Trust me, you WON'T be disappointed... INSECTS!
So, gonna keep this short: the game isn't that ...bad (Reading the review, it seems like one of the worst games ever made)... still, it is... boring, and only interesting in the first two hours. Basically, while having a different range of elements and types of attack, the moment you discover the first, like, three, the fun ends: that's it, you've seen all the game has to offer. A shame, really, since the Idea behind was technically sound and the graphic compartment isn't that bad (the design, though... brrrr) So, yup. Extremely discounted? it's a maybe. Full price? Aw, hell no.
... could not complete it, Wizards and Warriors is truly a remarkable (although fairly liner... which I think is good, the game is already enormous) example of CRPG and a deep one at that, providing with a simple introduction to the classes before giving you the option of specialization. Now, I did mention I was blocked both by a bug and a peculiar design choice... and since I was already pretty deep in the game, I chose not to pursue (maybe in a few years I'll attempt another run), and there are also some wooden mechanics here and there that requires a little bit of patience... Despite this, however, the game is quite profound, enjoyable and ultimately repayable, and really deserves its spot in the ''must play at least once'' in the CRPG genre.
Man, I remember playing this back in the day! An ol'west FPS ( with some very bleak ''polish'' influences) that mixes stealth scenes and ''traditional'' FPS gameplay, even with some nice physics engine, and a good story to boot! Now, it has aged a little, and it's quite ''slow'' in the gameplay, but that doesn't mean it's not playable, or enjoyable, for that matter, considered there's still a fan base that want the saga to continue! P.S.. At mission 5, if the game crushes, start the game up through DX10 (go to GoG galaxy main game's page, additional executable. the option is right there).
