Masterful storytelling and lavish environments guarantee a cinematic action-adventure experience
Introducing Elika, a deadly and mysterious ally, who’s gifted with magical talents and dazzling acrobatic prowess.
Great story, and love the ending! That said, it is understandable that there would be people who'd miss the gameplay of the older Prince of Persia games such as the combat, in which in the previous PoP games the prince would be fighting multiple enemies at once whereas in this reboot you'll never be facing more than one enemy at once. And throughout most of the journey you'll be spending your time parkouring from one area to another together with your partner, Elika, whose company I really enjoy as I really love the chemistry between the two!
Only thing I hate about this game is the lag I experience in the main menu right after opening the game. Does anyone know how to fix this? This is the only time when I would be experiencing lag.
The game is fun. I started playing and just kept on for almost 8 hours. I only stop now because I should REALLY go to sleep. It is a bit too easy, though. Everything - the jumps, the fights, the puzzles. It is way too easy, even for me who prefers easy games. It also seems really small. Every area so far seems tiny. The game just makes you replay every area two or three times to collect some orbs which makes it look longer than it really is. Anyway, I like the game, and not just because of the memory of the old thrilogy.
This game has horrrible combat, I still 4 star it. It has generic story (as a bit of a mythology/religion nerd I do find some fun in the theology and the architecture is stunningly beautiful, inspired by ancient babylon). This is not an open world game, it is one massive temple/dungeon. This is amazing. But don't belive you will go "exploring lands" or ride through a canyon, all you will be doing, is platforming,
This is fine. In all ways I am super okay with this. You cannot die but instead rely on checkpoints on each platform basically so death just lets you try again. This will get harder since in the end the platforms can be far and few between. The temple/dungeon you play in can be traversed fully one side to the other, somewhat choosing the order you do things in.
This game has a simple loop. Basically you climb, jump and eventually "fight" (push off a cliff) an enemy with a lackluster "combat system" that really only serves as a checkpoint and unlock for glowing orbs that you will collect. The orbs are the games core. This is a MASSIVE temple/dungeon platformer with no real combat or good enough story whatsoever. And I love every second of it, running up on 30hrs now. You collect the orbs and thus are forced to actually perform all the platforming in the game pretty much, if you cant you will have to move on to another enemy to unlock a new section of orbs that eventually, unlock a new section of the games map by giving access to a new "skill" (a plate that will push you into the sky pretty useless except as a mixup). I love this loop
Artstyle, graphics and mechanics are excellent. Controller is easier but you get very quickly used to PC controls and I recommend using them if you prefer it. The game hasnt provided difficult puzzles or combat for me but it is as if I dont care about those things, cause thats how good the platforming is and how fun it is to play. Recommended without a doubt if you want a good "collection platformer"
The first thing you're going to notice is that control scheme is much more simple, and the combat and difficulty is much easier. Tempted to say "this isn't a true Prince of Persia game?" Keep playing and you might be won over because the platforming is so much fun. And the inability to die makes it so relaxing. And the pointer showing which direction you need to go to reach a given destination means that you are never too lost. And the combat is a fun timing game. And the main characters are cute and the ending is touching. This was a bite of such stress-free and zen platforming goodness that absolutely I'm going to replay it in the future. So what do you know. Straight 5/5.
Had potential. Liked first bit. Hoped there was new battle mechanics and exploring with this gauntlet, I thought that battles would be enjoyable. Elika came along, possibilities there.
I realized there's no merit to platforming that takes skill, the few places you could do challenging stunts led nowhere. All paths are linear paths branched together. Not open world. Extremely easy. Timed button presses = lame. Boring platforming, constantly hitting the next button hoping he'd move faster. Combat was the same. All combos had similar results. Enemies got slightly stronger, making them drag on. All the more since you can't actually die. The idea of not dying, "being punished" is like rock paper scissors with only draws: PvsP=draw, RvsP = draw... etc. No losing. No winning. The only progression was story. And the story sucked. Characters feel fake, the backstory's lame. Everything's redundant.
Elika's an annoying extra. You have full control over her. She's an extension of the player. She never enhanced gameplay. Gameplay being quicktime events with mindless button mashing combos thrown in.
To finish there's a huge number of bugs and areas where things glitch out. Elika randomly disappears, you can fall through walls, camera suddenly sticks to walls, You can get stuck in conversation mode with Elika, the game nearly freezsz platforming...
You can't explore. This game is meaningless. This isn't an experience you want. If you don't like losing, watch a movie.
This game is waiting for a review. Take the first shot!
