Well, welcome to modern trends, political correctness and gender equality.
And yes, the way you pronounce your gender is far more important than story. Just because SJW says so.
Sadly, I'm not suprised... isn't one of the writers one of the "gamers are dead" journos from Rock Paper Shotgun?
Feels abit silly seeing so many people react adversely to a game not released simply because the writers are inserting their political and moral beliefs into the story, which seems to fall in line with their previous Bloodlines game aswell.

There's a huge market out there for gaming controversies so id advice people to make up their own minds on this stuff than listening to Insert Youtube personality here to talk about it for 10.5 minutes and rant about "sjw's"

If the idea of an RPG with adult themes of politics, sexuality and idea's like gender's and pronouns trigger you, then maybe you should stick to Skyrim, afterall its just a game that you can avoid buying.

Taking into consideration the team, the writers and their openess talking about how the game is going to be, have alittle faith, also props to them for releasing on GOG, that is epic doesn't buy them out

*knocks on wood*

"Have a little faith"?

They SPECIFICALLY TOLD us what they are doing with it.

SJW gender bullshit and "subverting male power fantasies" (which is shorthand for the blatent disparaging and disrespect for males as per ever other tv show and game released these days.")

Why has 'equality' become "Screw men"?

Mitstoda can shove this game. Beta simp gender traitor.

None of this is a surprise though. Cara Ellison is involved, now THAT is one toxic feminist.

Yes. I was surprised by the pronoun thing too, but maybe this is just a good way to stop everyone asking about playing gay or lesbian or trans or whatever characters all the time! Bloodlines didn't have this and people were asking for years for a gay mod until I finally included a gay history in the UP. Which then caused an outcry of people that were against it! Nobody cares about this nowadays, if you want to use it use it, otherwise nothing has changed in the game itself much...

SJW gender bullshit and "subverting male power fantasies"...
Yeah, playing a vampire is a good base for female power fantasies too ;)!

I mean, I read the whole article. It doesn't sound like SJW crap at all.
They're talking about weaving the conflicts of art vs. money, and tradition vs. progress, into their story. Those are just storytelling trope that are currently relevant. There's nothing about putting diversity, or minorities, or social justice up on a pedestal in anything the developers said in the linked article.
You guys should figure out if there's actually something worth getting mad about first, and then only get mad if there is.

All that concerns me is: they want my money now, without any product to deliver. So as far as I am concerned they can shove the whole thing where the sun don't shine.

Many of the background jokes in "I" were stupid if you didn't hold the writers very slanted beliefs. I'm sure this will be no different. I am absolutely certain that it wasn't intended (likely, quite the opposite), but I've always felt that LaCroix seemed a lot like Bill Clinton and Therese like his wife.

I'm absolutely not saying that it isn't, and I'm certainly not trying to 'take away' from the female experience, however the previous game suited everyone, male and female alike, but now the idiot Brian seems to be purposefully trying to take away some of the original experience to make it less suited to males, and probably to marginalise them at the same time which is what seems to be the case of SJW-ism and I don't see why that should be.

As for bringing 'politics' into the game I'm ALL for that.. VAMPIRE politics.. not the halfassed, socially dangerous and decisive personal politics that one can't seem to get away from these days, slathered on top of a game that doesn't need it in the first place.

So he can break it up into small sharp pieces and shove it.

Id suggest just looking up these words and see how most people define them sensibly, you interpreting "subverting male power fantasies" seems quite different from my view, and apparently from others in this conversation, its a common trope of men saving the day, and sometimes getting a woman as part of the bargain.
examples; superman, spiderman, batman, wolverine, ironman, captain america you can think of the rest

And dismissing, abandoning or even making fun ot it is not neccesarily an attack on men, id encourage you to take a different look at these "buzzwords" from unfamiliar perspectives.

It doesn't matter what it actually is, they're not going to look anywhere they can actually learn. People who complain about left wing politics in this way aren't interested in what it is. They believe in nonsensical caricatures of the left that they get from pseudo-intellectuals like Jordan Peterson, or YouTube idiots like Sargon. They believe that this cartoon left is trying to destroy men, and in some cases even collapse Western civilisation. They believe the same way some nuttier Christians believe in the devil. They get click-farmed for outrage so effectively that there's not much you can do.

I wholeheartedly agree but i try and keep a positive attitude and hope that over time people will come to the same realization, i did.

Because i myself was kinda into this anti-sjw circlejerk thats going on across the internet years back, im just glad i discovered just how wrong, skewed and outright absurd my worldview was, and i dont think this is an uncommon journey for people so therefor i hope more traverse similar paths of discovery out of this manufactured outrage garbage.
That's pretty impressive, I didn't imagine there would be much turnaround. I'm glad there are people like you trying to help, thanks for going to these efforts. I'll hold back the cynicism in future too, and try give people the benefit of the doubt.

Honestly the criticism about the "subverting male power fantasies" comment seems pretty fair considering Bloodlines isn't a "male power fantasy" for your character so long as you're playing as a female who has all the same powers, clans, and many of the same opportunities as a male character would. Along with that, the actual world sure as hell wasn't a "male power fantasy" considering that two of the four hub areas are controlled by women (Therese/Jeanette Voerman for Santa Monica and Ming Xiao for Chinatown).

That is unless they're talking about how sexualized a large chunk of females are which is true but even then that usually had a purpose. It's used as either a way to reflect the depravity of the world your in or in the case of someone like Velvet's character, is literally part of the "Toreador" clan and her looks are intentionally used as a way of using seduction to get other people to do work for her. Having less of an aspect of what made Bloodlines 1 so good seems like a downgrade in terms of world building.
