Somebody asked Seth, "any progress on 1995 tie fighter SE cdrom? still waiting to buy. thanks"

And Seth replied, "Yes."

;-) So nothing specific but hope is still happening.

StyleWan: I will buy the game, if something like the following version is released :

TIE Fighter CD (with iMuse), NO Installation (Portable).

Dosbox can mount ISO's natively, so this is exactly what I do with my own actual copies of the games.
I hope I don't get hate for this, but I would love the 98 version. Purely for the graphics updates. I love that version's graphics the most. It would be cool if they did like a "all the cool things combined" update. Or at least make all three versions downloadable.

Back in the day I had XvT and it had the nice graphics. It would be nice to have them in the classic campaigns of XWing and Tie Fighter.

The GOG.com X-wing and TIE Fighter Special Editions already include the Windows 98 versions with the X-wing vs. TIE Fighter graphics.
I was hoping that in this set of Lucasart releases that the 95 Tie Fighter would've been released :( I guess there's a lot more work to it than I thought?

Read the following, to see the reasons why we need TIE Fighter CD (DOS) version :

Looks like I'm not the only one wanting the 1995-version! Looking forward to when/if it will be here, will visit this thread all the time for updates :)
Count me in as someone still waiting for GOG to release the DOS CD-ROM editions of X-Wing and Tie Fighter. I'm playing a bit of the Windows X-Wing (with custom music from Rogue Squadron!) and have the Tie Fighter Reconstructed mod ready to go if I get the urge to fly for the Empire. But having never played these games before, I'd like my first experience to be with the definitive editions if at all possible. So as badly as I want to play them now, I'm willing to distract myself with my large backlog until GOG follows through on the DOS CD-ROMs.
The TIE Fighter anime-style short film is getting me all pumped up. Please hurry, GoG!

Yeah, I was just going to post that. So great how it combines the game stuff with the movie look. Allthough as an X-Wing-player I'm glad that an Interdictor can't do the things it does to torpedoes in the film.
I got tired of waiting and bought the DOS CD-ROMs for X-Wing and TIE Fighter off Amazon. TIE Fighter came in yesterday and I made an ISO to play with in DOSBox. Now I just need X-Wing to arrive so I can finally start playing these games.

Does anyone know if there's a way to transfer a "game save" from X-Wing and TIE Fighter? know the pilot files (.PLT and .TFR, respectively) can be transferred with their medals and scores intact, but I'm wondering if the high scores shown for each mission in the Historical Combat/Combat Chamber can be transferred as well. Just in case GOG does release the DOS CD-ROM versions and I end up using those installations, but want to keep my records for each mission.

I'm looking at the X-Wing folder right now and it has a file called "SAVEGAME.RPY", but I don't know if that will contains the mission scores, and I don't see anything like that for TIE Fighter.

Thanks for the heads up. I checked out the floppy disk version of TIE Fighter, which doesn't have any issues with the platform firing with the CPU set to max cycles. I tried experimenting with the DOS CD-ROM version to see if the output mode or resolution had anything to do with it, but the CD-ROM platform wouldn't fire unless the cycles were set to 60,000. Setting it to 70,000 still had it firing, but seemingly less often. It's discouraging to see this bug, so if GOG ever gets around to releasing it, it'll be curious what their DOSBox settings are and if they fix the issue.

EDIT: Today my computer doesn't seem to be able to run well when CPU cycles are set to 60,000; the sound and music get a little choppy and explosions in-flight cause large FPS drops. But setting it to "Max 60%" instead appears to do the same thing for fixing the bug, while running much smoother, even during an explosion. Strange.

I just tested Tour 1 Mission 2 for X-Wing (GOG version), and the bug exists there with GOG's default settings (CPU set to max). Like the thread you linked to says, setting it to 20,000 cycles appears to fix the problems with the frigate and corvettes firing their lasers. Even more strangeness when considering the default GOG settings cause space platforms to fire normally for TIE Fighter.

Basically I mentioned the PC Gamer article - http://t.co/WHra3mSlwQ - and how it mentions the lack of the "definitive" TIE Fighter / X-Wing games on GOG, and Seth tweeted back, "I find their lack of faith disturbing"

I know people probably don't enjoy the teasing but for whatever reason(s) I think this is just taking time.

Very nice! Thank you for your efforts. :)

Looks like there is reason for optimism. The fact that a major gaming news outlet is reporting on the issue might even expediate the process.
