Don't get me wrong. I can appreciate that he'd prefer to play as a male character. It's just the fact that he felt the need to drop this complaint as a 1* review as well is so immature and silly.

GR11: Apart from that I don't think the OP was entirely wrong. Usually you *are* playing an alter ego in RPGs etc.
Yep, this may be true for certain types of games that give you that option. And even then I'd imagine that most players are still just playing AS some character... a character that they made to resemble themselves.. sort of.. in an "optimized" kind of way.. you know, more powerful, smart, good-looking, badass. But otherwise totally accurate-to-life alter ego. But yes, I get your point. But it is also pretty obvious that games like Tomb Raider are successful exactly because they appeal to *men*, not to women.
I'm sure they appeal to female and male players alike, though probably for varying reasons :D And my little jokes are just the usual way I tend to argue. You shouldn't take internet discussions too serious.
