I just bought Gothic II and the in-game version says 2.7 (English).

I got widescreen working fine by changing extendedMenu=0 to extendedMenu=1 in my ini file (now all resolutions my system supports are available). I also changed zVidResFullscreenBPP=16 to zVidResFullscreenBPP=32 (though I'm not sure the game supports it).

I've just started, so I haven't noticed the "outdoor bug" because I haven't been outside yet!

My question is, since it reports version 2.7, do I need to run the 2.6 patches or has GOG incorporated them now?

BTW, as I play, I will report any problems and what I've done to correct them.

Thanks.

I've updated the guide with a link to mmarci's useful and current info about Gothic mods (thanks mmarci). I'm not on GOG much anymore, so feel free to PM me for any specific updates you want to see to this guide, or if you want to write a new guide, do that and PM me with it and I may replace mine with it. Alternately, write a new guide and message mods/staff and see if they'll sticky it. Cheers.

How can I remove D11 Render? It makes my game lagg so hard (even with good system)
If anyone is looking for a patch for the English version of Gothic 1, I advertise my own Gothic UnPatch (EN_G1_UnPatch).
You should include the Carnage Graphic Patch in the list. It's one of the best graphics mods for Gothic 1 and 2 if you ask me. It replaces the old models for items such as potions, other consumables, weapons and more with new high-poly 3D models. There are some screenshots in the provided link.

There are versions for Gothic 1 and 2, all you have to do is put the .vdf into Gothic/Data
Hi, I have big problem, when I start Gothic II the whole screen turns white and it doesn't show anything, have to close it via Task Manager (Windows 10 x64), I can hear the Menu sound... but only white... help please :))

I followed this Tutorial:

Gothic 2

1. Install the game
2. Rename gothic.exe to gothic2.exe in /system
3. Install this patch
4. Go on with the PlayerKit
5. Install SystemPack
6. Install the D3D11 renderer
7. Download and extract the base game normalmaps to system\GD3D11
8. Download and extract Vurt's improved textures normalmaps to system\GD3D11\replacements
Hello. To anyone still playing Gothic 2 and interested, I've modded the IronKeep 2.1 patch to reinstate the alternate learning cost system once used in one of the versions of the German patch: it separates trained points from bonus points (from shrines, potions...).

I've also corrected some scripting errors (for example, you can find the missing paladin runes and Esteban's chest key) and some texts.

I've tested it by completing the game with all 3 guilds, and it works fine.

The file is < 2 Mb (only gothic.dat has been modified).

Ok, seems I "can't post links at this moment" ; if anyone is interested and has an idea, just contact me.

Just out of curiosity, is the IronKeep patch worth using these days? I noticed the final build was from 2010 - and the latest versions of the System Pack seem to do their own bugfixing...
Well, I didn't know about the System Pack, but from what I've read it only seems to attend to tech issues (perhaps you can correct me on that) while the ICP fixes game related problems (scripts, dialogs...), which is what I wanted.

Edit: now I'm able to post links, so here is my modified game.dat :

Is that version of the renderer the only one compatible? I heard it causes a few glitches
As someone else pointed out above and linked to it, the latest version for the Gothic 3 Community patch is 1.75 *not* 1.74. The 1.75 patch is *much better*.
Has anyone got working links to (the worldofplayers site links to yandex download pages which don't work) :

- systempack-1.7 (the only version of systempack i can find)

and its required files:

- gothic1-1.08k-patch.exe (perhaps not needed for gog version)
- Gothic1_PlayerKit-2.8.exe
(i managed to find Gothic1_PlayerKit-1.08k.exe)

- gothic2_fix-1.30.0.0.exe
- Gothic2_PlayerKit-2.8.exe
(i managed to find gothic2_fix-2.6.0.0-rev2.exe)

I'd love to finally play these much praised games if anyone can help me out.

On a related note, the links given in the sticky Gothic 1 and 2 installation guides of this forum are outdated and/or broken.

Updated the Gothic 3 installation guide, it now has links to the v1.75 update pack, the latest CM (3.1) and G3CU.
I have issues while playing Gothic 1. The screen is constantly flickering, it's really annoying. I tried to install the unofficial patch but it didn't help. Is there a solution for it?
