Assassin's Creed, Heroes of Might and Magic series, Rayman Origins, FarCry 1 and 2, modern Prince of Persia games, and many more unforgettable Ubisoft titles 60% off

Welcome to our unbelievable [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/ubisoft_weekend_promo_011113]Ultimate Ubisoft promo. The publisher is famous for releasing original titles, full of pure gaming magic and memorable moments. This weekend you can get more than 40 Ubisoft titles 60% off. Amazing action-adventures in the ancient Middle East or dystopian future, first-person perspective shooters telling the stories of secret agents or special forces operatives stranded on dangerous islands, strategies set in fantastic lands, the distant future, or our very own mundane reality, colorful platformers, racing games, dungeon-crawling RPGs--all this and more waiting for you and tempting you with low, low prices. Let's put some titles in the spotlight, shall we?

Rayman is an iconic character and his platformer games entertained generations of gamers. As many other platformer series, his adventures also took a turn into the realm of 3D. They were quite successful at that, mind you, but there's something about the run-and-jump genre, that simply makes it work best in two dimensions. Rayman Origins takes us back to the 2D roots of platformer gaming, and reminds us why this kind of graphics and this kind of gameplay is a perfect match. Plus, it introduces a lot of fresh ideas while doing so.

Far Cry and Far Cry 2: Fortune's Edition will take you on a dangerous voyage through breathtaking locations filled to the brim with dangerous foes and ruthless beasts. This elaborate FPS titles were deemed revolutionary--not only in the graphics layer, but also for their huge maps allowing for some open ended gameplay. Are you ready to face the tropical heat?

Might and Magic is one of the 1990s iconic RPG series that sprouted into a successful line of fantasy strategies loved and cherished by gamers worldwide. Now you can retrace the whole history of the Might and Magic games, beginning with the classic dungeon-crawlers bundled in the Might and Magic 6-pack, through the timeless Heroes of Might and Magic 3 - complete edition, to the beautiful modern Heroes of Might and Magic 5 Bundle. You can even check out the intriguing action-rpg spin-off: Crusaders Might and Magic. A whole fantastic universe awaits you!

All of those Ubisoft games, and many more, can be yours for 60% off this weekend. Go to the promo page to check out the details of this Ultimate Ubisoft sale. The offer ends on Tuesday, November 5 at 3:59AM GMT. Don't miss out!
Far Cry 2 intrigues me. So many people hate it, but some people think its the best game ever made. I have a feeling its probably not for me, but i expect I will pick it up (I genuinely love the original) along with HOMM 2.

I've been doing so well avoiding sales but this one I don't think I can resist.

It's interesting (and a pity) that none of these games have mac versions, notwithstanding that I can easily get the ones I have working on my mac...
I'm thinking of getting Beyond Good & Evil and Splinter Cell. I never played these when they were originally released. However I still have a Gamecube and Xbox which these games are available for, so I'm wondering if they might be better for consoles. Has anyone played versions of these games on both a console and PC? How did they compare?

The other game I'm thinking about is Silent Hunter 2. Any opinions on it? The only sub sim I've played was Aces of the Deep from Dynamix. Is Silent Hunter 2 considered a better game?

Licurg: Which is the best Rayman game ? I want to get one of them, but can't decide between Origins and Hoodlum Havoc. I never played Origins.
Origins. If you perfer a 3D Rayman game, get Rayman 2.

The main thing that should impact your decision is that neither game natively supports controllers on PC. If you're fine with KB/M controls or can deal with using a 3rd party controller program, read on.

When compared to the 6th Gen console versions like the GameCube and Xbox, BG&E seems to be best on PC. There's a widescreen hack available for it, and any graphical problems you might get appear to be easily fixable (if there are any). Things get a bit different when you consider the "HD" edition of the game available from XBLA or PSN. There are some graphical enhancements (slightly better textures come to mind) exclusive to it, but it has a couple of quirks of its own. The most divisive to some is the lack of being able to customize axis inversion.

Splinter Cell on PC allows you to change Sam Fisher's movement speed with the mouse wheel, which seemed to be an innovative thing back then. Plus it lets you save anywhere in the game. There are a few minor graphical effects that are missing from the game when running it with a modern graphics card, but the ability to run it at native screen resolution with a solid FPS may trump that in your mind. The GameCube (and PS2) version is a bit different from the original Xbox/PC version, changing some story elements and having overall worse graphics.

Keep in mind that neither the GOG version nor the Xbox version of Splinter Cell immediately come with the extra levels, and it's impossible to legally get them for Xbox anymore sine Microsoft shut down the original Xbox Live servers.

Regardless, both games provide great experiences on PC, so don't fret too much about the decision!
i.. uh.. oh dear.
I just spent an embarrassingly large amount of money.
If I just focus on how much I saved, I'll feel better, right? RIGHT!?

KMetalMind: snip
Thanks for the help, I'll just get the third, as I can at least be sure I'll like that one. Will probably pick Origins during the Christmas sale.
So, I´ve recently fallen for HoMM 3, is getting the Heroes chronicles, all chapters worth it? is it just more of the same or does it have something extra? is the story interesting at least?

Rincewind81: Yes but I played this games in my native language and this games where also developed from a german developer in german. I just don't want to switch to a translated version. It is the same thing with books and movies, i like reading and watching movies in english. but I wouldn't watch an english dubbed german movie or read Thomas Mann or Heinrich Böll books in english.

Same with the Daedalic Adventures. I don't want to play a Dark Eye Game in english.
+1 to you my good sir. i share this sentiment and applaud you frenetically.

gandalf.nho: Nice promo, already have almost all the games I like, but how's is the Settler series for fans of RTSs like Age of Empires? And Rayman are difficult games?
I played Settlers IV, which I am aware is different slightly than 3, etc.

However I have to tell you, Settlers isn't about RTS combat.

It's about building an economy that supports troops for whatever reason you need troops for.

It's a slow paced game, however you can't drag your feet (I know that contradicts) because the AI, while simple, can and will steam roll you.

The way you 'win', is by finding gold.
More gold = more civic improvements (like vases) and higher level troops.
The more higher level troops + the more improvements that encourage morale = win for combat.

gbaz69: Is there any news or rumors floating around about future ubisoft releases on gog.com?
Not as long as Ubisoft requires Uplay for all their games.

That's NOT DRM free, so it's not what GOG is about.

DCT: they are fairly playable, I had Warrior Within on Steam for two years now and played it just fine with a keyboard it just wears your keys down though.

mistermumbles: That's an interesting statement. In all of my years of PC gaming (~2 decades), I've never managed to break or wear down a single keyboard, be it regular desktop keyboard or one stuck on a lappie, and ye olde mouse&keyboard combo have always been my primary form of control.
You're lucky. I've had the "A" key and the spacebar key break before.

And these aren't cheap keyboards either. My last one was an Eclipse II, by Saitek, and those damn things are expensive as far as keyboards and they aren't even 'gaming' keyboards.
I thought just buying a more pricey, standard keyboard, would mean better quality.... I mean, what was I thinking? It all comes from China anyway, no change in quality, you simply pay for a name... it's cheap, generic, next time around.
Now would be a good time for those who don't own it yet, to buy the best game ever.

Even TotalBiscuit says: "And now enjoy the best turn-based game ever devised."

Yes, it's Heroes of Might and Magic 3.

Finally decided to pick up HoMM III for myself. Played a friend's copy long enough. Will probably get something else as well before sale is out. Beyond Good and Evil being the prime candidate.
Picked up a bunch and that should pretty much complete my Ubisoft collection on GOG until something new by them comes along here that I want.

After the fact though, I am still on the fence a little about two more while they are on sale:

The Settlers: Heritage of Kings
Battle Isle Platinum
I was tinking about finally buying the Settlers 3 and 4. Then I saw this promo and purchased the Settlers 2 Anniversary Edition as well.
I hope GOG.com gets Farcry 3: Blood Dragon soon!!
