Assassin's Creed, Heroes of Might and Magic series, Rayman Origins, FarCry 1 and 2, modern Prince of Persia games, and many more unforgettable Ubisoft titles 60% off

Welcome to our unbelievable [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/ubisoft_weekend_promo_011113]Ultimate Ubisoft promo. The publisher is famous for releasing original titles, full of pure gaming magic and memorable moments. This weekend you can get more than 40 Ubisoft titles 60% off. Amazing action-adventures in the ancient Middle East or dystopian future, first-person perspective shooters telling the stories of secret agents or special forces operatives stranded on dangerous islands, strategies set in fantastic lands, the distant future, or our very own mundane reality, colorful platformers, racing games, dungeon-crawling RPGs--all this and more waiting for you and tempting you with low, low prices. Let's put some titles in the spotlight, shall we?

Rayman is an iconic character and his platformer games entertained generations of gamers. As many other platformer series, his adventures also took a turn into the realm of 3D. They were quite successful at that, mind you, but there's something about the run-and-jump genre, that simply makes it work best in two dimensions. Rayman Origins takes us back to the 2D roots of platformer gaming, and reminds us why this kind of graphics and this kind of gameplay is a perfect match. Plus, it introduces a lot of fresh ideas while doing so.

Far Cry and Far Cry 2: Fortune's Edition will take you on a dangerous voyage through breathtaking locations filled to the brim with dangerous foes and ruthless beasts. This elaborate FPS titles were deemed revolutionary--not only in the graphics layer, but also for their huge maps allowing for some open ended gameplay. Are you ready to face the tropical heat?

Might and Magic is one of the 1990s iconic RPG series that sprouted into a successful line of fantasy strategies loved and cherished by gamers worldwide. Now you can retrace the whole history of the Might and Magic games, beginning with the classic dungeon-crawlers bundled in the Might and Magic 6-pack, through the timeless Heroes of Might and Magic 3 - complete edition, to the beautiful modern Heroes of Might and Magic 5 Bundle. You can even check out the intriguing action-rpg spin-off: Crusaders Might and Magic. A whole fantastic universe awaits you!

All of those Ubisoft games, and many more, can be yours for 60% off this weekend. Go to the promo page to check out the details of this Ultimate Ubisoft sale. The offer ends on Tuesday, November 5 at 3:59AM GMT. Don't miss out!
hel-loooo Settlers.
Which is the best Rayman game ? I want to get one of them, but can't decide between Origins and Hoodlum Havoc. I never played Origins.

It depends on your tastes. Personally Rayman > Rayman 2 > Rayman 3 > Rayman Origins, but I somehow like all of them a lot.

Rayman is a classic 2D platformer: Solid core gameplay, big bosses, different themed worlds, good level layout with many secrets for explorers, etc.

Rayman 2 is a classic 3D platformer: More action oriented, less different themed worlds, less bosses, but somehow solid gamplay mechanics and many features from the previous title which works nice.

Rayman 3 is strange. I somehow love it but at the same time there´s something off about the game. It´s more about keeping a combo going, more point oriented, and more powerup oriented (you have different costumes, and each one is needed for different things). It´s the first Rayman game which was joke oriented too. I personally would recommend playing it as it´s somehow unique, but it may dissappoint you.

Rayman Origins is more a 2D platforming racer. I mean: In the original Rayman game, you could take your time at most points, but this one is more "pursuit" oriented, with many points where you can die because you didn´t made the perfect jump 20 jumps earlier. I´m not a fan of these kind of platformers, but it´s one of the best looking Rayman games and it´s perfect for the kind of people who aren´t that much into them. You may like it more than 3, like plenty of people do.

To be more clear - I played all the Rayman games on GOG except for Origins, and I liked the 3rd one the best . Is Origins more like the third or less ?

It´s totally different from 3... Maybe not in the joke part of the game, but I think it´s more related to the first one. Gameplay wise, it´s different from all the previous three. I would advice to look at some videos to get an idea:

If you have played the previous three, I would recommend trying it, but it´s really different at core gameplay from the previous ones. This one is more "running" oriented, there´s time challenges, etc.

DCT: they are fairly playable, I had Warrior Within on Steam for two years now and played it just fine with a keyboard it just wears your keys down though.

mistermumbles: That's an interesting statement. In all of my years of PC gaming (~2 decades), I've never managed to break or wear down a single keyboard, be it regular desktop keyboard or one stuck on a lappie, and ye olde mouse&keyboard combo have always been my primary form of control.
well maybe I am just a bit more rougher on my keyboards of course I also have three nephews and a daughter who also use my computer and my two younger nephews slam on the keys .

Like where?

Only place where I can recall earlier jump screwing you later is only last with those mechanical paltforms.
Then there are treasure chest chases, which require precise jumpng, but they either kill you promptly if you fail or you can recover from them most of time. Also they are optional and you can skip them.
In most other levels you can take your time with no punishment so I am not sure what you mean.

In my opinion Origins is great game and I enjoyed it more than any other Rayman game and I recommend it to anyone who asks.

tarasis: Tempted by Far Cry & Far Cry 2, the rest not so much.

psadler: Far Cry 2 is awful! It's not even an FPS - it's a boring driving simulator.
Noted. Cheers.

Maybe I´ve over exaggerated, but what I´m meaning is that unlike previous Rayman games, speed is a mayor factor in the game. Not only there are time challenges, there are many scripted levels too where a bad jump may be fatal time later:
All 10 chest chases.
Mechanical falling level.
Last levels unlockable. (LotLD)

I´m not saying it´s a bad game, I´m saying I don´t particulary enjoy this kind of gameplay. In previous Rayman games, the core gameplay was jumping and using the fist, but here the core gameplay is running. The game is meant to be played by running nearly every time, and most exploration is obvious, unlike previous games. I understand why people love it, but personally I don´t enjoy it as much as the previous three.
Awh yeah, time to stock up on HoMM III to give people for Christmas. :D
Damn it, still no money =(

So, the Christmas promo it is :D
Nice promo, never thought i have so many games from Ubisoft ;-)

The funny thing about this game is the amount of time and effort they put into the scenery - there was a whole dev diary blog about them going to africa and taking inspiration and stuff from there go into the artwork etc. Problem is there's lot of long stretches where you dont do squat. Outposts respawning (too quickly?) after player has done them over, bland colours.apparently gunplay is pretty good tho. Having to keep taking shots for malaria is a pain in ass mechanic

geoconker: I really wish GOG had demo support. I'm somewhat interested in Far Cry and Assassin's Creed - I've never played any of them, but I heard they're quite good.

BreOl72: Here's the Far Cry demo:

For Assassin's Creed, there was never a demo - as far as I know.
Thanks for posting the demo link.

uchristensen: I'd say it can continue perpetually. I suggest you two look up The JCPenney Effect.
Extra Credits explained it in the beginning of one of their videos: http://youtu.be/QxfkWZPAUg4?t=37s .

Now GOG already has fair and (depending on publisher) low prices, but discounts just trigger something in your brain.
Agreed. For those who want to know more about this psychological effect, not just in game sales but in every store you walk into, here's a great article: http://youarenotsosmart.com/2010/07/27/anchoring-effect/
