What's is a balanced gaming diet? As we understand it, it should be composed of a solid main course, and something lighter for dessert. In our Strategy First catalog it's not hard to compose such a delicious meal. One of the deep and complex strategy games would serve as the main course, and there's plenty of action games to go with them. If just one plate leaves you hungry for more, there's no point in denying yourself seconds. Everything on the menu is 60% off, this weekend. We know you'd like to go ahead and dig in, so let's just name a few dishes from our [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/strategy_first_weekend_promo_270913]Strategy First and Seconds weekend promo, shall we?
We've got games from the Jagged Alliance series, if you like army rations served with a rich turn-based tactical sauce. We've got Space Empires IV Deluxe and O.R.B. Offworld Resource Base, if your taste in strategy calls for something otherworldly exotic. There's also some hot and spicy auto racing in , for those of you who like fast food. Finally, there's some all-time American favorites smelling of grilled beef, BBQ sauce, and popcorn in [url=http://www.gog.com/game/pro_pinball_big_race_usa]Pro Pinball: Big Race USA. What a delight!
Sounds yummy, doesn't it? But that's only a small taste! Go to our Strategy First and Seconds promo page to sample the whole 60% off buffet! The promo lasts until Tuesday, October 1, at 3:59AM GMT. Don't miss out on the feast!

grimwerk: Since nobody is speaking up for Flatout, I will.

A gritty and pushy racer, it's at its best when eight cars are trying to jam their way into the same small curve. That one Overrunner that's been dogging you the entire race? Shoulder them into something solid (at speed) and chuckle as the driver pitches through the windshield and into the woods. Smash the scenery, be rewarded with turbo. The cars are heavy, dirty, and hail from a time when Americans cared everything for going and nothing for stopping.

I haven't played the destruction derby part.
I haven't played the weird extras where you intentionally defenestrate into a giant dartboard.
I hate the music less than when I first bought the game.

I don't care. The racing part is totally satisfying, and I'm grinning goofily and eagerly tense each time I play. It's visceral, dammit. The controls are simple and immediate.

I've bought 3 copies so far. Maybe I should buy more.
You know, I wasn't gonna buy anything for myself from this promo, but you convinced me . I just bought FlatOut, congrats :P

In return, I can clear up what may have been a mystery for you. Here's the email I sent to the KoDP dev back in June:

---
Subject: A thread full of GOG users excited about KoDP

There's a moderately crazy fella emphatically advertising KoDP and giving away copies he's bought:

http://www.gog.com/forum/general/buy_king_of_dragon_pass_giveaway/page1

It's nothing to do with me, I just read it and thought you might find it encouraging.

Enjoy.
---

He gave me the impression he was quite happy about your thread, and rightly so.

edit: It looks like I should try out the bonus levels of FlatOut based on tinyE's input. Whenever I start the game, though, I just want to race.

Very cool promo.
Looking to get Patrician III, can't really complain at the price!

Anyone know if it runs on Windows 8? Main site says no but can't see anything where people have mentioned it.

lukew: Ok everyone, I need opinions on what's the better game: Port Royale 2 or Patrician 3?
avatar
Ghorpm: I prefer Patrician 3. Perhaps, just perhaps Port Royale is a little bit more diverse: there are different type of cities - viceroy, governor and colonial. Goods are nicely arrange in five categories (essential goods, raw materials, finished goods, colonial goods, import goods). So it may seem that the gameplay is better than Patrician 3 (it lacks those features). However, what absolutely ruins the game for me are mini-games. Duels are already pretty bad but it gets worse. Sometimes you have to show your... dancing skills. Yes, dancing is a part of this game. I mean, WTF?! I don't know, perhaps somebody likes those mini-games but I absolutely hate them.

Patrician 3 is a very solid trading game. Playing on harder difficulties is especially rewarding because you will feel the consequences of your actions for a long time so you will have to think twice before doing something risky. And believe me - there are a lot of risky actions in Patrician.

If you, however, can turn a blind eye to those mini-games and prefer to be a pirate then it's Port Royal 2 for you. Yarr!
Thanks very much, I think I'm gonna go with Patrician 3 then. :)
I'm having a lot of fun with Ghost Master. It's got an open world vibe but with a lot of ghost variety and some clever puzzles. In some cases there's a good sense of time pressure racing to manipulate humans just right to operate a puzzle. Difficulty is nice too because often it feels like solving the level is one thing, but unlocking everything takes more dedication. I was a little worried it's feel too casual or like The Sims but have been pleasantly surprised so far.
Just scored Sacred Gold finally. Looking forward to the co-op with my fiance.

I wonder if Sacred 2 could ever show up here?

You can get the Gold Edition DRM-free on GG for 20 euros.

Good to know, but not sure if I want to use Gamers Gate

I might just wait it out, even if it's a long while.

Though I'd just as soon buy the hard copy on console as well.
