Get Thief, Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Soul Reaver, and more Square Enix classics up to 75% off!

We're all gamers, here at GOG.com, so we know very well that games aren't something you can have. They're something you must have. A commodity, essential to our wellbeing. We take it as our mission to deliver what makes you happy right onto your virtual doorstep. Our weekend [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/square_enix_weekend_promo_040414]Square Enix Supply offers you the chance to get games from some of the most exciting series with up to 75% off discount. Square Enix catalog features some of the most impressive gems in the GOG.com offer. Titles that evoke memories and emotions in thousands and thousands of gamers. The character cast of the Square Enix stable alone is impressive enough to make one's heart race. If GOG.com had a red carpet, celebrities such as Lara Croft, Garret the Master Thief, Agent 47, Kain and Raziel, and JC Denton would arrive to walk it on a limousine marked by Square Enix logo. Let's take a quick look at the featured games, shall we?

Lara Croft is the ever-shining star of the Tomb Raider series. Lately her character has undergone some major changes. Here, we give you a chance to spend some quality time with good--erm--classic Lara. Tomb Raider 1+2+3, Tomb Raider: Last Revelation + Chronicles, and Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness sum up all of the miss Croft's early career, for only $3.99 each!

Yet another hero who is a fan of property re-assignment concept, Garret the Thief has now made a comeback with a new game. The word on the street is that the new title is very nice, but not quite what the long-time fans of the series expected from a Thief game. On GOG.com you can catch up with all of Garret's classic adventures, as long as you can keep up with him, as he silently moves through the shadows. Thief Gold, Thief 2: The Metal Age, and Thief 3: The Deadly Shadows let you experience the life of a thievery archmaster, for only $3.49 each!

Not really in the mood for action and adventure? Startopia takes the classic city-builder genre to the stars and lets you manage a fully simulated alien society of nine distinctive races in which each citizen's mood, needs, and goals can be individually tracked. You'll get some help from VAL--your AI advisor--brilliantly voiced by William Franklyn, the British actor famous for his Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy radio performance. The game is only $1.49 this weekend!

That's only a small taste of the Square Enix titles you can get up to 75% off this weekend. Head out to our Square Enix Supply promo page, to check out the whole offer available until Tuesday, April 8, at 3:59AM GMT. Enjoy your weekend!
I bought SR1+SR2 but I'm still undecided about Defiance!
Reviews aren't very kind with its gameplay rating..

CrowTRobo: I wasn't a user of the site back when Eidos was sold, but I'm guessing they had the contract with GOG and Square is just allowing the contract to continue.
Well, that certainly sucks if it's true. I figured the FF games might be out, but I was hoping the Dungeon Siege games might still be in the running.

But we could theoretically still get http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curse_of_Enchantia, an apparently decent classic.

And Just Cause, and TR: Legend, Anniversary, Underworld.

Kabus: Great promo. Let's release more Square Enix games on GOG.

juanjava: Revenant!!
I suspect that one's still not here because of compatibility issues.

I thought I was the only one that played Revenant. I'd love to see it make it's way to GOG. I thought it was a really good game. I considered it Diablo 1.5. The biggest downside was all the bugs and the save system. I've never seen such a slow, inefficient save system. It would save millions of tiny (0-16 byte) files, burning up a TON of HD space. Still, it was a fun game and I'd love to play it again.

CrowTRobo: Now that I know that most, if not all, of the Square-Enix games here are former Eidos titles, I would have to think that Square-Enix is not interested in making any additional titles available on GOG. I wasn't a user of the site back when Eidos was sold, but I'm guessing they had the contract with GOG and Square is just allowing the contract to continue.
There were no Eidos titles on GOG until Square Enix came on board as a publisher. Square is solely responsible for the Eidos titles appearing on GOG.
Am I the only one thinking that "Square Enix games" should be Final Fantasy resp. Dragon Quest, not some acquired/stolen licenses?
Can someone explain to me the pro and cons to Daikatana?

You're not the only one, we all think that, though 'stolen' is too strong a word to use. Nothing was stolen, Eidos was on the verge of bankruptcy and it merged with Square-Enix in 2009, it's as simple as that, all the IPs they owned are now legally Square-Enix's.

On a sidenote, I couldn't care less for Square and their overrated Final Fantasy series, but I do miss my good old Enix, not the Enix of the Dragon (ball Z) Quest, but the Enix of Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma and ActRaiser.

[EDIT] It's easy for us, Eidos fans, to see Square-Enix as 'the bad guy', I know I'm guilty of that, sometimes, but let's not forget most of the Eidos catalog here on GOG was, in fact, released way after the 2009 merger. And someone just said Eidos had no contract with GOG to begin with, it was all Square-Enix. I can live with calling Square-Enix games to the Eidos games I love, as long as Square-Enix keeps releasing them on GOG for new generations of players to enjoy, DRM-free and compatible with modern systems and OSes.

groze: First of all, let me just say the non-Silicon Knights Legacy of Kain titles are way better than Blood Omen, (...) I know a lot of people who started playing the Legacy of Kain series with Soul Reaver, never having touched Blood Omen, and they didn't feel like they missed anything, the lore is explained and thankfully expanded in the Crystal Dynamics-only LoK games. Blood Omen would be a nice game to add, but it isn't essential, GOG already sells the four that matter the most.
I would strongly disagree. I played both and in my opinion, story-wise, there's way more stuff in Blood Omen than in Soul Reaver and it also explains a lot, which isn't said in Soul Reaver.
Playing Soul Reaver without playing, or at least reading a gamescript from Blood Omen, is a waste.
I highly recommend Project Eden. Bought it this weekend in the promo and barely stopped playing it after having it installed. Puzzles, action, smooth graphics, good voice acting, great controls, perfect game that I never even knew existed. And there's some Deux Ex-references early on. Any game that has even the slightest touch of Deus Ex in it should be played.
Hi i'm considering buying two of those games: startopia, anachronox, omikron or project eden - can you recommend me which to chose ?

Thank you. I still consider jRPGs as my favorite genre, but

On Squaresoft,

Aside from the original Final Fantasy (1) for its time, that series is mostly mainstream garbage. Vagrant Story and Parasite Eve were great, albeit imperfect.

On Enix,

Those Action/Adventure games you mention were fantastic classics! They featured beautiful backdrops, stunning music, and most of all - were enjoyable to play.

The Dragon Quest series isn't that bad though - many are actually quite competent, and much more strategic than FF ever was. The main issue is that the gameplay hasn't really evolved in the last 20 years.

But back on topic:

Just bought Project Eden since I'm curious what Core did outside of TR.

Oh, fuck. Why the hell did I buy Daikatana? I spent 20 minutes with it and I already hate it. First I only clicekd 1 thing in menu and spent 10 minutes watching intro while I only wanted to do setup and now I am getting ripped to pieces by tiny enemies I don't even see over and over again. First stupid frog took 60 health from me. :-)

Looks like it was worth the money then :)

Also, I don''t know why, but I really want to buy Daikatana and Conflict: Desert Storm - can anyone explain this to me? XD

I woudnt really call them mainstream
Well, at least not the earlier final fantasys FF1, FF2, FF3, FF4, FF5, FF6
i think if i remember correctly one of the games wasnt even called Final fantasy but Mystic Quest Legend in PAL regions.
Final fantasy wasnt that wery well known outside Japan and maybe USA on a few occasion
It wasnt before Final Fantasy 7 They had a really world wide hit.

The Final fantasy series has also introduced many features now common in role-playing video games and has been credited with helping to popularize console-based RPGs in markets outside Japan.

But i agree with you that latly it seams the final fantasy series is becoming more and more mainstream
(action based)
and not what you can call real RPG, i migth be biased though.

Thanks for clearing that up! Hopefully we will continue to see more previously-Eidos-owned games on GOG (ie. Hitman 3) and perhaps one day non-Eidos Square-Enix games as well. (thats a lot of hyphens)
