Bonjour et bienvenue sur GOG.com!

We're happy to announce that the site is now available in the native tongue of Molière, ‎Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Honoré de Balzac, Jules Verne, and René Goscinny! +1. RSS (Atom) does actually have meta tags for defining the language. But then the RSS file itself is in http://www.gog.com/en/frontpage/rss (note the "en" part), so it should simply be split off.

Well, there has to be a first. And when you add up France, Belgium, Canada, some little french speaking state in the US that I forgot the name of, and some minor French communities everywhere in the world, it makes sense it's the one they want to put first. But from what I understand, it is planned to release Spanish and others later on when the situation is stabilised.

Hey, now that I think about it ! I always wondered : do you have usually a translation in the videogames released in Netherlands ? I noticed it's not part of the usual Euro5 (French, Italian, Spanish, German and English).

Seldom. Usually with Disney games that cater to young children, they will make a Dutch translation. That's neglectible though. They don't translate to Dutch for the sole reason that we have always been good with languages for centuries. Since 87% of the Dutch can speak English, they don't bother to translate it. Also 70% speaks German and 29% speaks French. Unfortunately I am not one of the french speakers. Though I still have a manga volume completely in French that I've read (and understood after trying hard to translate it by myself without a dictionary or translate website. )

My ex from Canada (nova scotia) said the only province of canada where they speak french is quebec. However a lot of people in Africa speak French.

Ouch! This thread is gonna turn ugly in a few posts, I even have suspicions that you're a troll in disguise ;o)

So, from a Waalse point of view, most of people learn Dutch (liever Nederlands dan Vlaams) just for work issues (like dealing with Flemish customers) but don't practice it in their private lives because North and South Belgium don't really mix socially (apart from people who live at the "taal grens").

Het voordeel is dat ik graag naar de vlaamse televisie kijkt omdat het een heel verschilllend cultuur is dan de franstalig. T'is ook tof van naar Vlaanderen gaan omdat jij als in een andere land voelt ;)

En jij moet je geschiedenis boek updateren :) Wallen zijn nu de arme mensen terwijl de vlamingen zijn rijker.

Yep, they speak French "only" in Quebec. But even if it's they are minor compared to the rest of the country, it's still huge and they are a big part of the French speaking world. Note that there's two Quebecs : the province and the city. I am talking about the whole province.

Well, I know they are more poor nowadays. In the past the southern part had the industry which was a good moneymaker. But times change and today more people work in services than industry. I believe there is this Belgian industrial city that is completely abandoned. Also I only hear things most of the time from a Flemmish POV since those are the ones I can talk with and they can also be pretty fanatical. I wonder who the Flemish detest more. The Dutch or the French. xP

Now perhaps, but iirc he's historically correct. The french-speaking bourgeoisie of the 19th century seemed to have the same attitude towards flemish people than the parisian bourgeoisie had towards breton-speaking people from Brittany.

"Bourgeois" (in French, so I assume it's the same word) refers to the person itself. Bourgeoisie refers to the social class. I was talking about the latter in my post.

Exactly. But if you're french-speaking Belgian, maaan, does it scream. ^^

I'm exagerating, but I'll have to admit that I never understood the reason behing that tension. If I encounter a Flemish (first of all : we speak in English XD ), there's no hostility whatsoever. The country has history, hence our politics having hostility, but as I said earlier in another post, there's not really any hate between the people themselves. Just the language when it's forced in school, but that's it.

Oh yeah I remember looking into old european languages that still excist somewhere. A small minority but still speaks a language thats not french there. Pretty fascinating in my opinion. Just how in Ireland they still have their own Irish/Gaellic language. Yeah I love looking at maps, language history and history.

Speaking about Bourgeoisie. The Dutch word for civilian 'burger' comes from that word. However some people don't like that word as it refers to a class in terms of wealth. Rather than civilian. Though that is mostly being forgotten. You had 'arbeider' which is worker and 'burger' who was higher up. I guess the neutral word would be inwoner.

Je suis de Belgique et je peux choisir l'anglais ou le français dans la dropdown en bas de la page principale.
