Jack is Life! Jack is Love! The Keaning is happening!

Most sales are just that: some nice deals, tons of games, some flowery marketing talk about those deals. Nothing more, nothing less. As you know, last year we ran our Fall Insomnia Promo with the usual expectations that follow a typical sale.

The Insomnia Promo was different. Very, very different. It morphed into something beyond our wildest expectations. Entire communities were staying awake for this sale. The RPG Codex was busily snapping up and all classic RPGs. 4chan's very own /v/ put aside their usual bickering about which console was best and started trying to find The Pattern (sorry guys, you didn't crack it :^) ). Meanwhile, Jack Keane acquired a cult following (JACK IS LOVE! JACK IS LIFE!) all the while collecting a flurry of 5 star reviews where gamers documented all sorts of miraculous manifestations of Jack's blessing in their lives. Lastly, the Insomnia promo garnered its own entry on our [url=http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/the_return_of_the_insomnia_sale]wishlist.

Welcome to our Spring Insomnia Sale! Back by popular demand*, we will be putting up 100 games in limited quantities** with discounts up to 90%. We'll have more games for sale than Noah had animals in his ark. Indies. Classics. Classic indies, even. All kinds of games for all kinds of gamers. However, you have to be fast, faster than those Polish script kiddies*** lurking outside our offices so they can get 0.1 ms of ping!

We did change things up a bit this year. While checking out, keep an eye peeled for a random chance to get a free game. Yes, this time there will be no more split second freebies so everyone has an equal chance :)

*why would you do this to yourselves, you mad fools?!?!
**yes, we know that all games are being distributed digitally and quantities can be infinite, just roll with it, ok?
***it was a common theory that all the free games were being snatched up by Polish hackers. We don't have any hackers here in Poland, we deported them all...somewhere...

marianne: I've heard good things re Chrome, but I've never heard anything good about IE and strongly dislike it. :(( I'm a Firefox fan and love it.
avatar
len_turner: What I have most against Chrome is the way so many "freeware" programs want to install it when they are themselves installed. That assault on my computer makes is at least quasi-malware for me.
I'm beginning to wonder if different browsers work differently in different areas ? My Firefox notifies me when some of the freeware programs are being installed and they also tell me when they are preventing pop-ups.

ReynardFox: I turned off autoupdates because i had prior warning. But if I have to update for some reason it's a good thing someone already made a classic theme restorer add-on.
avatar
caledhel: Yeah, I had to use that plugin to customize it back to the way it was.
Yeah same for me.
Except I only wanted my Addon bar back. The rest was fine with me.

Missed Hammerwatch.

It's been quite a bit of fun!
Slept for 8 hours, woke up to the two games I was kinda considering (Angel of Darkness and Time Commando). Still waiting for Desperados this go around and then the long, unknown wait for Luftrausers. I can understand some of the criticisms with this sale, but it's still quite fun.

I seldom install anything through my browser. As an example of what I meant, my anti-viral, Avast, whenever there's a program update, needs a restart, then it opens a window with "click to finish update".

At the bottom of that window, in small print are two check boxes. They are "install Google Chrome" and "Make Google Chrome my default browser".

Both are checked by default. Unless you're looking closely, you get a surprise next time you open a browser.

Edit: Clarity (well...)

Only bought LSL: Love for Sail so far, and just waiting on Trine 2, no freebies yet though. In fact, I think I'm the only one waiting for Trine 2.

My, I was just thinking "Evil Genius is probably the last one I could buy from this sale..."

And look what happens, this is some sort of money-sucking witchcraft this.
