Narushima: I thought that was what the rules originally stated, and I still think that's a better rule, since it all puts us on an equal footing. You have to do your best with what you have, creativity only will serve as judgement.
Saying "anything goes" makes it sort of pointless/

refaelba: I don't think that was the point at all.
The way I see it, GOG wanted us to be creative, without limiting our vision. They gave us some footage as a good starting point to turn that vision into a real video, but that should not limit us in creating our idea.
The limit actually is the copyrighted material. So, if you use music of Metalica or images of Bart playing the game, then that is prhibited

Absolutely. That's what I meant of course. That is my standard and personally I make sure my videos are on the safe side of uploading to YouTube (this is also a competition requirement).

If you want to be accurate, almost all material is copyrighted in some way. You just need to have the rights to use it, and there's plenty of public domain, creative commons or royalty-free contents to go around without infringing any copyrights.

However, GOG was less specific about this and merely requested the videos won't be "removed by YouTube", so some copyrighted content can be used in some countries, though I wouldn't suggest it. It can always cause problems some day. Just use media that you created yourself or you know is safe to use.

Coming up with a last minute (not really, but I do need to get some sleep) entry here. Let's get ludicrous.

Very nice. I'm guessing it is your personal voice work?

You are correct, sir. I had a more elaborate plan in my mind, but ended up putting most of my time tonight into the video itself, and felt that putting VO over a majority of it, as I had originally planned, just wasn't going to work. So I just came up with a quick intro/outro combo to lay down quick and throw in, for a little extra flavor.

The end result is that it's a bit more serious business than planned, but still captures that ludicrous essence I was going for.
My entry!

I was going to try and do something cooler than this, but I completely forgot and only remembered that I had even made this about a half hour ago:

Final call for your submissions! There's only 20 minutes left to get your video in the contest. We won't accept entries after this deadline, so even if your trailer is still uploading, this would be the time to post a link here.
When does the game unlock to download for pre-orderers?

Crosmando: When does the game unlock to download for pre-orderers?
Seems like it has been unlocked. Question is if that was premature or not.

I had the same problem. Had so many thing in my mind, but i had to struggle with my lack of skill with the audio soft, the video soft, lack of time. Damn those finals in university
There were some great entries, can't wait to see which ones come out on top! Good luck, everyone!

G-Doc: We're nearly done arguing about the winning entries. There's some blood and gore, but not as much as in the game. The announcement should be within a day.
Will they be out today?
Aaaaaand the winners are:

1st place, Munkee79, with his Old School Is New Again trailer http://youtu.be/2nr4baxWxdE. This entry is not only very well prepared, but it also points out the game's coolest nostalgic features in a way that's both clear and quite humorous. Out of the three winning videos it's the one that might be least over-the-top crazy, but it also comes closest to what a trailer should be. We think that it could easily replace the release trailer made by Interceptor ;-) Munkee79, 7 bonus codes for games up to $9.99 go to you!

2rd place, refaelba, with A Message from Gib http://youtu.be/fBLNQQdXa-g. We loved the nostalgic feeling, original take on the topic, great stylisation, and nice additional sound effects. When it comes to style this one is by far our favorite. 5 bonus codes awarded!

3nd place, Dropkick1BE, with the Q&A Redux Trailer http://youtu.be/qeVHCiYnG1I. We really enjoyed the original idea behind this entry. The execution is solid as well and on top of that, this was one of the first trailers that presented some out-of-the-box thinking. 3 bonus codes go to you!

Both Interceptor and we also liked the Dubstep Trailer http://youtu.be/k3UlOTR52pQ, by PepsiDude002, but sadly we cannot award it anything, as it uses copyrighted music.

Thank you all for participating in the contest. Hope you had fun!

EDIT:
The awards have now been sent to winners via forum PMs.
