Is your body ready to waste away in front of your computer?

Wasteland 2 Digital Deluxe Edition, inXile's epic post-apocalyptic RPG is here! The masterfully crafted continuation to the 1988s original post-apocalyptic RPG, is available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux on GOG.com, for $59.99*.

Wasteland 2 Digital Deluxe Edition, is the direct sequel to 1988’s Wasteland, the first-ever post-apocalyptic computer RPG and the inspiration behind the Fallout series. Until Wasteland, no other cRPG had ever allowed players to control and command individual party members for tactical purposes or given them the chance to make moral choices that would directly affect the world around them. Wasteland was a pioneer in multi-path problem solving, dripping in choice and consequence and eschewing the typical one-key-per-lock puzzle solving methods of its peers, in favor of putting the power into players’ hands to advance based on their own particular play style. Now, the legend is back, resurrected by the power of thousands of gamers' combined will to visit the grim and dangerous, yet strangely mesmerizing future once again. Today, we celebrate nonlinearity, mature storytelling, and other best traditions of computer RPG design. Brian Fargo and his inXile team opens the doors to the post-apocalyptic future: let's challenge its many dangers, together!

On GOG.com Wasteland 2 Digital Deluxe Edition comes complete with a free copy of Wasteland - The Original Classic and inXile's cult fantasy RPG, The Bard's Tale. *$59.99 is the regular price for this title in the US. Other prices will apply in different countries. If you end up paying more than than the US price, we will reimburse the difference from our own pocket, giving it back to you in store credit (this is what we call the "Fair Price Package"). If you only want to dip your feet before taking the plunge, there's a Wasteland 2 Digital Classic Edition available (US price: $39.99), and it can be upgraded to Deluxe Edition later.

cw8: Trust me when I say you need at least a good sniper on your team. You'll definitely need a sniper to survive later on. I also use them to draw the first shot since they hit furthest and hit for most (normally).

I'm sick of the AG centre, just completed it for the 4th or 5th time now. Highpool 3rd time I think.
Yeah, that's how I go about on encounters too. Snipe them dead first :D

And is there a possibility to take care of both emergencies, or will the Skorpions just take over Highpool (I guess)?

No and no :)

BrotherNone: All the Kickstarter money was spent and we doubled the amount raised. We got $3 million from Kickstarter, minus significant percentage for fees and physical goods, but WL2's final budget was over $5M thanks to money inXile put in from back catalog, Early Access sales and Brian Fargo's personal money (several hundreds of Ks of that)
Thanks for the info. Frankly when I posted the earlier stuff I wasn't aware that Wasteland 2 was developed by an already established studio, I presumed it was rather created by a new entity established specifically to do this project (and move on to others when it's done), I wouldn't have commented on the budget at all had I been aware of that. Yes, it was a major derp moment. I also wasn't aware that I was only staring at the Digital Deluxe Edition, not the regular one priced at 40€. An even larger derp moment.

So, yeah. Seeing that the regular version is priced at 40€ makes me feel very differently about this, especially taking into account that GOG pays back almost 25% of the price in store credit (again, something I hadn't noticed). I think 40€ is still a bit too much for a crowdfunded independent game but I certainly wouldn't have expressed such anger if I had paid more attention earlier.

Taking GOG's policy on regional pricing into account I'm actually considering to buy this at the current price. So yeah, forget everything I wrote. :P

For those who think it's too expensive, you really are getting your money's worth from this game. I have been playing this game non-stop (except for sleeping/eating/showering) since it was released (pretty much three days) and I've only just reached the half-way point of this game (which is what the beta was), and this is from someone who played the beta multiple times and knows it off the back of their hand - and I also skipped through all the dialogue and knew the solutions for everything already.

It's 3AM now and tomorrow (well... today) I'll be able to start California/LA. So yeah, for anyone in doubt, this is a massively long game, when someone says 50-80 hours really they don't take into account how much time one really takes.

That said, I hope LA/California provides a huge bump in difficulty because my squad are like walking gods now who have 100% to hit from very long distances.

They said LA is a whole new experience altogether, much better than Arizona. Can't wait to hear your feedback. You playing on Supreme Jerk? Looks like they upped some mob's difficulty on Supreme Jerk from the beta. Just got new rifles like the M16 which somehow made things a little more manageable. Doesn't stop a single bullet from hitting for 106 at Highpool though.

Yeah I sure hope there's some good shops in LA too with some nice expensive weapons and gear, I managed to pretty much lockpick/safecrack/computer hack every loot container in Arizona and now have a bit over 15,000 scrap and thousands more in loot in my box thing at the Citadel (because I exhausted Melson and all the merchants and couldn't sell them anything more).

Nope, just Ranger, I noticed the game is a lot harder than the beta so I decided to try SJ on my second playthrough.

Novotnus: No and no :)
Okay, thanks!

And guys, what's your supreme build? My current team is a custom made char (pistols, leader, toaster repair :D, lockpicking), Pills, Bert and the Sniper Dude. Also let Angela and the Doc join my crew, but I bet they'll leave your crew after the mission's done (like someone said already, at least about the Doc).

I noticed safe-cracking would have come in handy quite a lot. Is a non-combatant with only such skills even feasible?

Nope, you can't skip fighting here... Have at least one sniper and one brawler (you'll need both a lot in AG Center). If you feel brave you can have one IT\lockpick\safecracking ranger who stays out of the fights.

Novotnus: That's where my bug kicks in - I can't enter Ranger Center, the game always crashes when I do :)
Have you tried forcing DirectX 9 mode?

Enebias: I fear I may regret a few choices I made during character creation: like in the first one, I preferred to assign a single point to many abilities instead that specialize in just a few... moreover, as soon as I trained my medic in surgery I found a companion starting with a skill of 5 in the same field. Sigh.
I split all the skills between all my characters. So, each character has two or three they specialize in. The only problem lies when Rose comes into the picture and thinks she's a better medic than my medic. Though it is nice to have two docs, in case your one doc gets knocked into a coma. Who would sew up the doc.

I also like to keep lockpicking, safecracking, and alarm tripping separate on three different characters.

They definitely buffed SJ across the board compared to the beta. 15 hp Wrecker in Highpool crit me for 106 at sniping distance, insta-killing my main character who is a sniper, I was wondering WTF gun was he using, anti-materiel rifle? lolol. I reloaded and sniped him to death before he could react. Got wrecked by the 4 Gila lizards at the start of Highpool too but that was with shitty guns. Now I'm gonna go back with my M16 and Bullup and have some fun with them for revenge. AG Centre was pretty rough too, I had to use weapons which I didn't had to in the beta, like the Mangler (bazooka of sorts) and nades. Damonta is gonna be fun...

That's good to know, It also seems to be rather challenging, I'm playing on the 2nd difficulty and it's not making it easy, it looks like SJ is going to be rather interesting when I get the game figured out..

Thanks, will try!
Found out that changing texture quality (one up or one down) sometimes helps to avoid the crash.

Once again, the reviews for this on GOG make me go hmmmmmm. Are the complaints legit or is it more overblown BS? Like the person who has posted a review just to claim that they can't actaully download a 12gb file?

There are several people that had problems downloading this game on gog on release day - especially since the download for some people through gog downloader did not work and they had to download directly. And some people have bad internet connection which meens that the downloader is a must if they don't wan't to get corrupted files.
