The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, a traditional jRPG masterpiece with 50+ hours of breathtaking storytelling is available 15% off on GOG.com. That's $16.99 for the first week!

The Orbal Revolution changed the Kingdom of Liberl. Innovations created with the use of the mystical "orbal energy" advanced the civilization by centuries in just 50 years. Now gleaming airships take to the skies, the night is lit with orbal-powered lanterns, and communication is easier than ever with telephones. However, breakneck pace of change brings many risks. With the emergence of high-powered guns and potent magic the kingdom has become a powder keg. This is where the Bracer Guild steps in, an efficient and esteemed force acting as police and negotiators. And here is where your story begins…

The first proper JRPG in GOG.com's catalog is a true gem, a title acclaimed for its novel-like multi-faceted characters, drama-packed story, and detailed lore. Follow Estelle and Joshua, children of the greatest hero of a bygone era, on a quest to find their father and uncover a plot threatening to destabilize an already volatile world. The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky is a rare game that creates a vast fantasy world and populates it with monsters and men you will care about. The game adds an original twist to the turn-based combat system, features highly customisable gear, and tops it all off with surprising accessibility even for genre-newbies.

Discover the secrets and dangers of Zemuria with your band of vagabonds in The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky 15% off for the first week. That's $16.99 until Tuesday, August 5, at 3:59PM GMT.

auroraparadox: A JPRG on GOG I never would have expected this. It certainly is a pleasant surprise.

If I wasn't in the middle of Divinity Original Sin I would pick this up immediately. I'll have to mull over whether I want to add it to my backlog at the current price.

Is this a console port or was there a PC version to begin with?

How strong is the storyline? Can it stand along side the older Final Fantasy titles?
There was a PC version to begin with ,the console ports got some nice goodies and this version gets them as well !
The storyline its the strongest point of the game, if you enjoy a good development with interesting turn of events and an interesting evolving world then yeah , its damn good.

The game originated on the PC in 2004. It was later ported to the PSP and some additional features were added like the a game+ mode, voice acting (for battles only), and a catalogue of the creatures you face. This release includes the PSP version features, but is still based on the original PC version.

I can't comment on the story as I've only just started it myself. I hope the rest is useful at least. :)

Edit: And... ninja'd.

Crosmando: I've never heard of the game, but apparently it's a very faithful Wizardry-like getting an English PC release. Would be cool to get it on GOG as well as Steam.
As much as I'd like to be excited about this, the Japanese Wizardry-likes that I've played or seen (admittedly only a handful, since they don't exactly cross my desk very often) have been pretty weak, because they're afraid to venture from the 35-year-old Proving Grounds formula. The best that I've played personally has probably been Forsaken Land, which still doesn't hold a candle to Bane or Crusaders. If someone has played Elminage Gothic, I'd like to hear how it stacks up.
Neverending hype for this <3
Gonna get Second Chapter ASAP when released on GOG.
Well, I did it.

Bought my copy just to show GOG and XSeed that I want these kinds of games here.

Unfortunately, I probably won't actually play it until 2016.
It's over 9000!

#1 on the Top Sellers list on the front page.
I initially dropped this when it first came out in the PSP cause the pacing killed me, since I WAS a big Action RPG fan back then, and prefer them. However, after taking on a different mindset, and told myself to enjoy the reading and slower pacing, I got a pleasant surprise and I LOVE everything about it.

So to all new players, have a different mindset for this game, appreciate the world-building and character driven story, and take your time to enjoy a slower paced game. You don't need to finish it off that fast!

I hope you all enjoy this adventure as much as I did/will do in my second playthrough.

this is a great great game. very well designed. nice plot. likable characters. lots of things to do.
Looks like a PS2 game...

Anyways, glanced at wikipedia and it says the game actually has 3 chapters... Each which are released separately. Somehow this reminds me of .Hack which released it's game in 4 parts.

So i need to ask since i don't see it in the features or comments if this includes all 3 chapters or if this is just the first?

I honestly hear better things about Sengoku Rance than the Japanese Wizardry titles. Most people who would play said games are occupied with Etrian Odyssey, which at least has an awesome set of soundtracks.

maybe because of the turnout we've just had will help the later chapters get here
If someone could/would gift it to me, I could return the gesture later in August/September :) ...
Fun facts:

Trails FC is today's top-selling game on GOG. (or however long that list goes back)

It ranks among the top 100 games on Steam with the most current players, clocking in at over 1000; last I checked it was ranked between #90 and #97. (This is a 2004 single-player JRPG on PC, keep in mind.) (Source: http://store.steampowered.com/stats/ )

Even checking the news threads in the GOG news section -- go here and look how many comments each post got -- this game's release announcement ranks among the most-discussed release threads.
