The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, a traditional jRPG masterpiece with 50+ hours of breathtaking storytelling is available 15% off on GOG.com. That's $16.99 for the first week!

The Orbal Revolution changed the Kingdom of Liberl. Innovations created with the use of the mystical "orbal energy" advanced the civilization by centuries in just 50 years. Now gleaming airships take to the skies, the night is lit with orbal-powered lanterns, and communication is easier than ever with telephones. However, breakneck pace of change brings many risks. With the emergence of high-powered guns and potent magic the kingdom has become a powder keg. This is where the Bracer Guild steps in, an efficient and esteemed force acting as police and negotiators. And here is where your story begins…

The first proper JRPG in GOG.com's catalog is a true gem, a title acclaimed for its novel-like multi-faceted characters, drama-packed story, and detailed lore. Follow Estelle and Joshua, children of the greatest hero of a bygone era, on a quest to find their father and uncover a plot threatening to destabilize an already volatile world. The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky is a rare game that creates a vast fantasy world and populates it with monsters and men you will care about. The game adds an original twist to the turn-based combat system, features highly customisable gear, and tops it all off with surprising accessibility even for genre-newbies.

Discover the secrets and dangers of Zemuria with your band of vagabonds in The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky 15% off for the first week. That's $16.99 until Tuesday, August 5, at 3:59PM GMT.

madth3: Could anyone of the buyers post here the file information that is missing in the wiki page. And comment on anything else that that could be wrong/missing?
I don't have a GOGWiki account so... the size is 1,617,289 KB (1.54 GB), the only installer language is English, the installer version is 2.0.0.2. I'll get you a hash in a second...

Edit:MD5 Hash - 5EF83D9BD75408C508961AFC477B2392

As for additional information, take a look at this thread for some other issues and workarounds.

I can't get over how weird it is to see the front page of GOG, and be greeted by a genuinely excellent JRPG.

This needs to be more commonplace.

Thank you!
I think all I'm missing is the precise name of the installer file
Does this mean we might get the Ys in the near future?
I know I'm going to regret this purchase later on (currency issues), but as someone who bought the Japanese edition of Ys while understanding little hiragana, this is really an impulse buy inducing find.

I tried a Legend of Heroes game before, but Falcom's no voice acting and few kanji policy made it hard to understand. It seemed to have more emphasis on the story compared to Ys too. Game play was fun, art was good, but since I can't remember which one I tried, here's hoping this one is just as good. Here's hoping more games from Falcom get released here!

Hopefully nothing from Kogado gets released here soon, otherwise my wallet will cry.

They've confirmed a long while back that Ys was coming to GOG. Given that XSEED's finally gotten around to releasing Trails on here, and given that it's (presumably, based on the best sellers list) doing well, I wouldn't be surprised to see Ys on here in the next several weeks.

And man, I've been waiting for that shit. Oath in Felghana is one of my all-time favorite games.

Makes me really glad I held off from getting them on Steam then :D

I hope so too, and it looks like there's at least a few more on the way according to GOG's Twitter:
"Not to spoil the surprise, but we have some cool things in the pipeline for #jRPG fans. Stay tuned!"

Sounds promising. Hopefully, they also have some stuff beyond Falcom's games.
In regards to Japanese RPGs, I found this a while ago:
http://blog.ghostlight.uk.com/post/ghostlight-descends-into-the-dungeons-of-tsun-kurn-to-bring-elminage-gothic-to-pc

I've never heard of the game, but apparently it's a very faithful Wizardry-like getting an English PC release. Would be cool to get it on GOG as well as Steam.
AWESOME!!! While my PC collection of RPGs is expansive, I have few JRPGs. I hope GOG can bring us more JRPGs, especially games of this caliber. Thanks, GOG!

genkicolleen: I've changed my avatar to Feena from Ys Book I & Book II in honor of this new Falcom release... and due to my excitement over getting Trails in the Sky! :D

zaine-h: I hope we will see some of the Ys games here soon! I changed my avatar to Estelle for the same reason. :)
To paraphrase one of the classic Star Trek films, I would say the chance of that happening may have just doubled. :)
If someone hasn't mentioned this yet, it's worth saying that this game defaults to a 640x480 resolution and you can't change resolution inside the game. The only way to change is to go start menu and find where the LoH folder is and open the configuration tool.
A JPRG on GOG I never would have expected this. It certainly is a pleasant surprise.

If I wasn't in the middle of Divinity Original Sin I would pick this up immediately. I'll have to mull over whether I want to add it to my backlog at the current price.

Is this a console port or was there a PC version to begin with?

How strong is the storyline? Can it stand along side the older Final Fantasy titles?
