Great as the Sphinx, powerful as the pharaohs, more time-consuming than building the pyramids.

Pharaoh + Cleopatra, a city management gem from the creators of Caesar III and Zeus + Poseidon, is available now on GOG.com for only $9.99.

You cannot get any better in terms of PC city building: all of the experience in making fantastic construction and management games of Impressions Games (Caesar and Zeus series), and all of the publishing expertise of legendary Sierra Entertainment, combine with a dash of the fascinating world of the Sphinx, Pyramids, and the Egyptian Gods and some historical knowledge, and you've got yourself Pharaoh + Cleopatra. It’s a SimCity type of game but with more content than sand in the Sahara Desert. Building, trade, farming, health care, immigration, military, and, of course, building monuments and temples to please the gods.

Pharaoh + Cleopatra offers not only gorgeous 2D isometric graphics (and hieroglyphic buttons!) with flawless game design, but is an “Egyptology for Dummies” text-book as well: the richly detailed world, dependent on the great Nile and its flows, the wild animals, the great heights and the tragic lows. This game stays true to chronological order of national disasters, births and deaths of notable leaders, and the founding and fall of ancient cities in the history of Egypt.

Pharaoh + Cleaopatra should come with a notice: it’s extremely addictive, time- and eyedrop- consuming, if applied without caution may result in sleep deprivation and extreme interest in ancient cultures of Nile Valley. You have been warned, but it might be too late, since Pharaoh + Cleopatra is available now on GOG.com for only $9.99.

cool! wishlisted!

Should all the Impressions City Builders Games have the same forum and be listed in each others "More games in this series" on the game card? They are essentially one series even if they don't share the name.

Maybe not, just an idea. :)

grviper: Well, C1 is or was available free.
I heard so, but couldn't find it with the official statement.
wishlisted till august 26th :P
Never played this, but I really like the Tilted Mill games on the same era/genre. So will definately buy this after next pay.

keeveek: I can't see any reason to buy C2 if you have C3 other than nostalgia / collecting games.
Which is a perfect reason.

If someone would ask me wheter i want Civ 1 or Civ 2, 3, 4 or 5 on GOG, I'd go for Civ 1 without a doubt. But I suppose some would say that there's no reason to buy/play Civ 1 other than nostalgia.
well, finally.

too late for me since i've bought a retail edition earlier this year.

elvenlord: I only played Pharaoh though. Anyone know what's been added in Cleopatra?

keeveek: More missions, more fighting, egyptian plagues (curse of the blood river for example), and like extra 20-30 hours of gameplay :P

Maybe some new builings too, I don't remember.
20+ extra hours of gameplay sounds like a great enough reason to get it :D

Fred_DM: well, finally.

May i ask how many boxed games do you buy in a year ?

I'm curious about this too!

ne_zavarj: May i ask how many boxed games do you buy in a year ?
what does that matter?

a lot.

the thing is, whenever i buy classic games, i tend to buy complete series. so when i wanted the Sierra city builders earlier this year, i bought Caesar 3 & 4, Zeus + Poseidon, Pharaoh & Cleopatra and Emperor all together.
that's the problem with GOG: there can be years between the release of the first game of a series and of subsequent installments, with no way of knowing if the sequels will ever actually show up on GOG.

i recommend the British "Sold-Out" line of re-published classic games. they come with new 32-bit installers, they are sometimes pre-patched and even if they're not they at least ship with the patches on disc, and sometimes there's no disc check, either.

And a heart attack (as the result of drinking too many energy drinks and trying to stay awake a whole week) as a free gift!
Wishlisted for now. I'm also interested in Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom to complete the Sierra city-builder series. For all others who are also interested and want to vote for it, go here.

spinefarm: On the topic - Another great release by GOG... now they have to bring Hitman 3 & 4 :D

photoleia: I'm wondering about the "Emperor" that a couple of people have mentioned. That is one I have never heard of/played.
It is particularly awesome.

Didn't have the monument building in sandbox mode that made Pharaoh so fun in the long run, but its monuments in the CAMPAIGNS were awesome fun.

Besides that, I think it is a "better designed" game then Zeus, even if it still doesn't beat out Pharaoh, which in my opinion is the best of the series. Then again, I just dont like Zeus as much since it doesn't really have monument building.

Only downside is, it was the hardest one to get working on Vista/7. so I too really want it to be on GOG. you get to build things like the terracotta army, great wall of china, ect. VERY fun.

I love the whole series of these games, and have been wondering when they would come out on GOG for a long while now. While I already own two copies of each, I do plan on buying all the city builders (Ceaser 3, Pharaoh, Emperor, Zeus) here too... but I think I will wait till they are ALL out, and I can buy them as a bundle during a sale :P

Gilou: 1 left to go, the best: Emperor

SLP2000: Some would also like to see Caesar 1 + 2 and also part 4
Caesar 4 was horrible.
It threw away all that made the old impressions games good, and was buggy as all hell. Hardly worked on my machine despite more then meeting its requirements. Caesar 3 was epic fun, but Caesar 4 reminded me of the horror of the PLEBS NEEDED message that made the first game really weak.

Part of me wishes I could just buy these games outright, especially Pharaoh/Zues, but I suppose they have to wait till a sale for me personally. These games really are my favourite series.
