Hm... you just uncovered a new way of enjoying video games to me. Someone should really create a game focussing on the enjoyment of watching your armada get torn apart.

you don't need to draw / model terrain ;p
Not to mention that this makes pathfinding a lot simpler. ;)

Actually, if you use the easy setting, the game becomes very easy and there are only a couple of mission where you will be forced to restart, as there is some randomness involved during combat (accuracy, reserve power, disabling systems) and I remember only one really frustrating mission. If you keep getting stuck, there's an excellent walkthrough, which gives you advice on the best ship setup and pointers to make a mission easier. All in all, not a difficult game once you understand what you are actually doing.

And watch you shall. Just look how pretty it is! And wait a bit and you'll also get to see explosion! There's a lot of tactical depth into it as well, from preparation of your ships and their weapons itself to the battle itself.

Yeah it's mostly only hard on hard and sometimes on medium. There are frustrating bits tho.

Tolya: Do not forget that there are EXPLOSIONS. Not just capital Explosions, but capital EXPLOSIONS.

The ones that cover all the screen. And not only from exploding ships, there are also weapons which look like huge nuclear explosions only in omg space!

Wakarimashita. I've bought it. If it's that difficult, it shouldn't be too hard to witness these awesome explosions. I just need to work towards making them happen on the *enemy* ships....

Well, I kind of generally assume this too. But that's a bit how I wish things to be.

I like to imagine SOME sincerity in the enthousiastic descriptions of the games. And some implied "hey we personally consider this game cool, have a try".

Either way, it's something that would remind you a little of Space Rangers and a little of Homeworld and a little of Incubation. It's a crazy mash-up of genres, and one that I'm happy to have in the catalog.

Interesting. I'm wondering what the similarities are between a squad-centric, turn-based on-land strategy game and a pew-pew, real-time, in-space strategy game.

Not disputing it (especially as I've not played Incubation since retail release and have never played Nexus). Just genuinely intrigued.

And you realise that you're missing Emperor: Rise of the middle kingdom game from Pharaoh/Zeus/Caesar series? ;P Because this one game wasn't widely known in Poland, or it wasn't known at all, this is why I'm reminding about that, maybe most of GOG staff doesn't know about it's existence ;D (yeah, I'm using the opportunity to remind about that game :D)

Well, I play Myth when I want to see my dwarves and soldiers being transformed into bloody pulp by enemies grenades... :D

Acting outnumbered ten to one in pre-designed murderous situations, carefully picking your targets (and their "body-parts"), and intermission shopping.
