A conflict on a celestial scale!

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/nexus_the_jupiter_incident/]Nexus: The Jupiter Incident, a story-driven real-time tactical game that puts a fleet of heavily armed spacecrafts at your command, is available on GOG.com for only $9.99!

You are Marcus Cromwell, a young and ambitious captain of a legendary Stiletto spacecraft. As your career begins, a devastating war over precious resources that could grant stellar dominion ensues on the edge of the solar system. Your tactical skill and battle expertise might prove to be the tipping point of the entire conflict that future generations would call “The Jupiter Incident”.

Nexus is a TFS--which stands for a Tactical Fleet Simulation according to the game’s developers--and that seems to be the most adequate of possible descriptions. In over 30 complex missions you will command a fleet of varied spacecrafts in a fully 3D environment, choosing your own tactics to push your forces towards the victory. And between battles you will manage your flotilla--upgrade, enhance and repair your ships with the resources awarded after a successful battle.

Nexus: The Jupiter Incident is a great tactical challenge with astounding visuals that will satisfy strategy gamers and space-opera fans alike, now on GOG.com for only $9.99

tapeworm00: I loved how that insult doesn't even make sense as an insult. How would he die by a failed bomb anyway?
Well you're a bit late to the party. Here, have a cookie.
I join to the club who think this is a hidden gem.
When i started my tutorial in this game, i hit the floor. Not that it was so nice looking, it was, but there are the details. Like there are maneuvering thrusters and breaking thrusters and actual momentum to these giant monster space ships. You know like real! And lasers are shiny and all, but don't do much to the hulls of the ship. And the first journey? It takes half a year or so to reach Jupiter... (thank god, we don't have to sit through that :D ) I wish if there were more missions like the firs few.
I still remember the feeling when i firs launched nuclear missiles at an enemy ship, and absolutely nothing had happened! The enemy aa guns shot down the missile. But next, i sent in a squadron of fighters to keep the guns busy... (Just to see what happens! :D) Haha toasted! Both the enemy and my squadron. This also proven to be working for sending in a boarding party. Shooting down enemy missiles with fighters? Yeah that works too, if done right. WW2 tactics in space, how cool that is?

Oh yeah, that's precisely why I don't even know where to begin when praising Nexus :D That game's quite simpy got so much going for it. I'm glad it's collected another fan, check mods at moddb.com , there are Battlestar: Galactica, StarGata and I think Star Trek mods. Oh and Nexus Skirmisher, that lets you completely create two fleets, one for you and one for AI, and the battle to death!

Oh and check out Nexus 2 concept trailer. I WANT THAT GAME.

The BSG/cnn/foxnews wooh-did-my-camera-catch-it pseudo-realist effect was a bit annoying, I hope they won't consider it cool enough to make it a game feature. Having the view actually centered on the action is handy sometimes, and, in my opinion, should be, like, the goal, wherever it is possible.

(Seeing the popular success of that style, I'll start to wonder if war journalists don^t shake their cameras on purpose to look more badass and more on-the-field, now...)

Yeah it is kind of annoying, but considering Nexus is mainly a tactical game, I highly doubt it'll make it into the full version, if there is ever one.
Am I doing this? AM I REALLY?

Has a hacker caused you to draw new conclusions?

Wow, I hadn't laughed that hard in a while. That was the most random post and ridiculous insult I've seen in a year I think...I'm still laughing lol.
