Survival of the sweetest.

Long Live the Queen, a complex political thriller full of violence, hate, and tough choices, masked by deceptively cute visuals, is available on GOG.com for only $9.99.

Long Live the Queen is a brutal game. Your heroine will try to escape the many dangers awaiting a young heiress to the throne, and will often fail, ending up dead, leaving the kingdom at mercy of it's many enemies. Luckily, you'll be able to back up on your mistakes, probably just to witness another death of the princess. When you're but a child, suddenly burdened by the crushing weight of responsibility, every little decision you make might prove to be your last. This complex and challenging royalty sim will crush your hopes many times, before you manage to protect the princess until the day of her coronation. There are secret plots at play, invaders at the gates, dark magical forces hiding in plain sight, assassins lurking in the shadows, and way too many suitors trying to get their hands on the young heiress' heritage. With non-linear gameplay, and great depth this cute-looking title will take even the most experienced gamer by surprise!

If you thought that the life of a princess is full of bliss, ballroom dancing, cotton candy, and ponies, it's about time you faced the terrifying truth in Long Live the Queen, for only $9.99 on GOG.com.
for a moment i thought it was the Koei game, and got super excited.

Psyringe: But yeah, continue to believe what you want to believe. I can't stop you from building your own dream world in which German gamers somehow have no interest in sexual content while the rest of society has. ;)

Anyway. Have we gone enough off topic now? ;)
Yes, it is pretty obvious you just wanted to annoy me by putting my claims in doubt, just accept that german gamers are no better than the americans they so much like to make fun of.

You already outed yourself as just as bad when you prejudged Biing 2 for its boobs, nice going.

And the sex in videogames thing is a perfect example of the germans hypocrisy, they all want it, but try to do something like that in a forum, maybe with a naked picture and you will first be berated by the other users and then be banned by the mods (even though nothing in the rules forbids it). Actually I the last forum I abandoned, I pointed out this hypocrisy.

Sabin_Stargem: From a brief attempt at researching Biing! 2, it looks like the game is only in German, and that the anime-version was a personal project of Olaf. Am I correct in assuming that there is no English version?
Yes, the fans recently made a russian version, but not yet english. But Biing 1 has english as language option.

Well, if you want to believe that ... ;)

Oh well. Objective evidence like the popularity rankings from Amazon, or the continuous posting of sexual content in the computer games section of Germany's biggest newspaper, can of course be completely ignored because I "outed myself" by daring to dislike Biing 2. That's .... not very convincing. ;)

For the record, I don't think Biing 2 is a particularly complex simulation, just tedious. I know that there are fans of the game who see this differently, and who believe that the critics only dismiss it on grounds of its sexual content. As you said, they are a very small group. For good reason, because few people find the game enjoyable for longer than a weekend. If you still enjoy it, then that's absolutely fine. Just don't think that everyone with a different opinion is a hypocrite who condemns it for the boob factor.

Regarding the "banned in a forum for posting sexual content" story, this is the second time you're posting it now. I don't know why you keep posting that. It sounds a bit as if you have unfinished business there. It also makes your argument look like "I was banned from a forum for posting sexual content and therefore German gamers are all hypocrites who don't really want sexual content", which is just silly on several levels, sorry.

This time I have evidence....;)

Are you deliberately trying to miss the point? It is getting the bad rep because of the sex content, that is what we are arguing about. You just made my case.

Not sure what you are on about, I neither got banned nor is it a story. I simply left that forum because I was tired of the overzealous mods. The end.
Loved the Chopin music in the trailer!

Hicks233: There are a number of different ways that you can win, (admittedly there are a lot more ways that you can loose!) each favouring a particular play style. Diplomatic/Magic/Millitary. There are branching scenarios that you can discover as well, think of them as mini-stories and mysteries that are uncovered by taking different routes and approaches.

I found a lot of the replayability came from trying out different approaches, trying to be diplomatic and seeing how far I could get or accepting an invitation despite not being a socially skilled princess - just seeing how far I could progress. If I remember rightly there are some unavoidable conflicts but there are multiple ways to get past them. It's been quite a while since I last played the game. It's great to see it getting a wider release though :)

I've seen Zafehouse Diaries mentioned as being similar in terms of mechanics and it's a pretty accurate comparison. Both games have a strong theme of experimenting and seeing how long you can last.

As I mentioned before it's also very much worth playing Kara No Shojo for the varying paths and the addition of investigation mechanics. Might want to see if there is a possibility of a drm free release though as the version available from Mangagamer had some unpleasant drm attached to it.

Hope you enjoy Long Live the Queen and have the chance to play Kara No Shojo :)

FlamingFirewire: Just as an aside, Mangagamer is going to sell the voiced version of Kara no Shoujo in a DRM-free physical copy sometime in the future :)
Yeah can't wait for that Kara no Shoujo is awesome.
I'm seriously loving this game. :)
Damn those chocolates. :(

Thanks for the info! :) I've heard that they're going to be releasing a translated version of the sequel and the prequel also. Here's hoping!

Psyringe: That looks ... weird. But I like weird. Not all kinds of weird though. And I really don't know which kinds of weird the game will cater to, it could go both ways. But I trust GOG that - if they fully tested this game, as Judas says - when GOG releases such a game, they wouldn't release the worst of the flock.

Piqued my curiosity. Wishlisted. :)

JudasIscariot: Like I said, I personally went through the game and found nothing in there that was in any way, shape, or form unsavory. Not even a single expletive. I think I did see an ankle, I know, I know, an ankle! I am getting the vapors now...*faints*
Awesome, thanks for the info. Putting this on my wishlist now.
Huh?
Is this a Visual Novel?
INSTA-BUY!
I just played to week 28 (and died) and it was really fun! :-D
Looking forward to the next try!
I don't know what's wrong with all the pussies posting against the game in this thread, but it is AWESOME ! I played 10 hours straight yesterday, hoping to put as much in it today .

Because they see a picture with anime-ish character, they scream hentai, call the cops and hide their kids in the closet. And they have not, of course, tried the game before judging.

Nothing new, though.
Yep, the premature judgement and stereotype. I feel the same when people bashing game like Train Simulator.
