Welcome to relativity! Get your complimentary fez.

FEZ,an original, incredibly deep perspective-twisting puzzle-platformer with countless awesome stages to explore, is available 10% off for pre-order on GOG.com. That's only $8.99 until Wednesday, May 1, at 9:59AM GMT, when we expect the game to arrive.

A unique title like FEZ demands we did something special. This is why we decided to start a little weird contest, so you get the chance to Win a fez to play FEZ in a fez! That's right! We're giving away 20 FEZ fezes to people who pre-order the game. The game's puzzles are highly complicated, challenging, original, and complex, so we decided to keep the contest rules as plain, simple, and uninspired as possible. Here's what you need to do:

1. Pre-order FEZ here for only $8.99: www.gog.com/gamecard/fez
2. Write to contest@gog.com and tell us why you should win a fez
3. Profit: win one of the 20 awesome fezes to give away! (We'll start shipping them worldwide on May 1st, so that's the deadline for submissions.)

See the fez here.

FEZ is a puzzle-platformer like no other. First of all, its gameplay mechanics come with a perspective-changing twist, that make every stage of the game not one, but four 2D landscapes. You'll have to use that to your advantage and figure out how to make seemingly impossible jumps. That's just scratching the surface, though. There's no telling just how many complex and original puzzles have been hidden in the world of FEZ. That might be the first game in quite some time, that will make you take notes while you play, so you can crack some of the game's secrets and understand its strange languages. There's so many layers and levels to the world you'll be exploring, that you probably won't see the half of it at your first playthrough! Pair that with incredibly diverse level-design, and charming pixel-art (ummm... sorry, trixel-art) graphics, and what you get is one of the most remarkable titles of our time. Be sure not to miss it!

Pre-order FEZ today to enjoy its mind-bending perspective-twisting charm at 10% discount! Remember, the pre-order offer lasts until Wednesday, May 1, at 9:59AM GMT

SovietSharkey: I thought Xbox trial showed potential for game but Phil Fish being a dick and also refusing to fix broken Xbox patch cause me to say no
You know it costs them $40,000 to patch an arcade game right (each patch after the first one)? M$ really like to screw people. The only exception to this is the 360 version of Minecraft which got a deal with M$ to issue all the patches that they want for no extra cost. Basically they also get to bypass M$'s testing phase as well (which apparently M$ f*d up with the first patch of Fez 'cus they missed the corruption it caused).
So just for the record, I'm not defending him or anyone else, just making sure that this info is known.
Nor am I attacking you so please don't take it that way.
:)
EDIT: to provide a source of my info

I am amazed how much people hate Phil Fish. I also thought most people kinda agreed that the vast majority modern Japanese games are struggling - I thought the general consensus was that they hadn't really progressed much in the last 10 to 15 year... Maybe its just that the people in the podcasts I listen to and websites I frequent all have that view...

YnK: If I say "most games on [insert online game retailer name here] are terrible", will anybody believe that I've actually played/seen enough of them to be able to judge almost the entire catalog?
No, but you will sound exactly like every other person posting anonymously on the internet. (See what I did thar?)
The real irony of Phil Fish haters is they somehow believe he's more of a smartass than any other forum troll. He's not, he just has a bigger soapbox than them. And yes he's a troubled young man, but who can't relate to that?

I think his current Twitter avatar of Andy Kaufman is god damn inspired. That's it. That's totally what his persona has been conflated into. Angry kids don't even get it.

Anyhoo, I have a lot of friends without 360s that need to experience Fez. Times like this it's frustrating that online services never have a quantity box in the shopping cart. :) (Why is that anyway? Don't you want to sell me 5 gift codes for System Shock 2 at once? You gotta make it tedious and rack up charges per transaction? That's the real insult here. ;p )

It's not what he says, it's his way of saying things and his general attitude that pisses people off.

I only knew him from watching Indie Game: The Movie, and he's the only developer in that movie that I didn't like.

I didn't even know that he trash talked Japanese games until today.

Elenarie: EDIT: I don't care who was right or wrong, but the fact that they don't show the other side of the story makes this whole thing smell fishy.
"Fishy..."? ;)
You are totally right though. Even the documentary creators culpa'd to the fact they didn't actually try to contact DeGroot. He never refused to be in the movie. But man oh man, Phil was in a dark place right then before the contract was settled. I think they were justifiably worried it could go real bad getting in touch with him sooner.

It appears that every generation needs their John Romero. :P

Bless the young and innocent children.
Ha! Just saw this posted to Twitter: http://steamcommunity.com/app/224760/discussions/0/828936719094418300/

Again, I really do love Phil Fish. The responses that are taking him seriously are pretty hilarious.

Exactly. It's obvious that he isn't 100% serious most of the time.. but there's a point you can reach where you're going way too far with that type of attitude and he's surpassed it ten fold.

It's working for him though, I never would've heard of his game, or him if he weren't such a douchebag lol.
Nevermind. Moving on.

But in all honesty I find myself giggling over the comments he made.
I just won the grand prize at IGF tonight. Suck my dick. Choke on it.

BadDecissions: I don't. Has he ever done anything worse than "PC's are for spreadsheets?" Because the way gamers squawk about him, you'd think he was stumping for the Nazi party or something.
avatar
Nettacki01: One time at GDC, he straight up said that all Japanese games suck.
So he likes to over-generalize, has a childish "us vs. them" mentality straight from kindergarten, sees things and people in simplistic terms, has emotional maturity and manners of a 12-year-old and thinks anyone with a different taste in gaming is a lesser human being?

Sounds like an average gamer.

I guess I should start trolling you to get your unconditional love.
edit: thanks for an amazing first day on steam! we're all amazed by the reaction so far! we're going to need some kind of spreadsheet calculator to keep track of all these sales!
Oh Phil Fish. ♥

Fixed that for you. ;)
