We've been announcing this to all and sundry, but if you still didn't know - The Witcher Enhanced Edition is now available on GOG.com! And because, we here at GOG.com like to stir things a little, so to show you how much we love The Witcher franchise we’re running a two week promo starting now.

Before venturing into [url=http://www.gog.com/tw2]The Witcher 2 world and continuing Geralt’s epic story, stop by and check out how it all began with the award winning CD Projekt RED's foray into PC game development. The Witcher is an action-RPG, based on a best selling fantasy saga written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The game features the titular witchers who are monster hunters for hire with supernatural powers. You will be controlling Geralt, one of the witchers, in the rich, deep and enthralling medieval fantasy world created by Sapkowski. Starting the game, Geralt remembers nothing. Kaer Morhen, the last remaining keep of the witchers, was attacked by a mysterious organization, and although the attack has been repulsed the secret recipe for the mutagen, a substance required to create more of your kind, has been stolen. You know what you have to do right? To give you a tip, we'll say you will be fighting ferocious monsters with the help of a revolutionizing and award winning combat system and saving damsels in distress.

During the next two weeks we have a special promo and The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director’s Cut is available for you with a 50% discount and will cost you only 4.99$! Can you really resist such great deal?

gyokzoli: Hmm, the GOG downloader stopped downloading the game at 2252 MB. I have win7 and NTFS filesystem so the filesize should not be an issue. Even pausing and resuming the download does not work.

Edit: I restarted the downloader, now it does not recognize my password. No, I will not change my password for a bugged downloader.
Definitely not the filesize - that goes up to +4000MB.

GameRager: Spoilers tags would've been nice. :\

Red_Avatar: Djeesh people are getting touchy about game spoilers - it's a 4 year old game and nothing I said could even be remotely seen as a spoiler yet people STILL complain?
Psst...
The cake... is a lie!

Grombart: I have the same issue... any ideas? :(
Considering everybody is having this problem, I don't think there's a lot anybody can do. I'm just downloading it the old fashioned way.
Time to install new video card that I have under my bed for a year or so.

Legacy: Can we get an option to not have everything happen at once? I could imagine if this happened on someone's laptop with a single 4200 RPM drive and a small amount of RAM requiring frequent swapping to the page file. The downloader would probably bring the machine to its knees...
You can do this in the options already... you can set the number of simultaneously stuff to run... if you have an older slower drive then it can be set to just a single thread if need be (in which case it would behave like the old downloader in most respects)....
.......... never mind
I already own the EE from STEAM, but bought it here, too, to get all the extras and to be independent of Steam :)
Finally... The Witcher on GOGcom. At long last the threads will end.

Rondel: Hey, now I have three copies of The Witcher!
Heh, me too :)

Bought the original retail release when it was released, and then the Enhanced Platinum Edition and now from GOG.

GameRager: I just asked for spoilers tags next time......P.S. the beast part is to me a spiler actually, and some of the other things as well.
Tips are always spoilers in a sense ;) hence why they're called tips - but they're not spoilers in the sense that they SPOIL anything. The fact that you fight the beast - well, that's like saying "you'll have to fight the evil monster that everyone is asking you to kill" is a spoiler.

jimbob0i0: (in which case it would behave like the old downloader in most respects)....
Except you'd only need to redownload at most the last 10 MB if the checksum failed.

Doing the same now. Not a good start for the new downloader though... ;)
Can't login either with the downloader.

PS: I'm very excited about TW1. Never played it. I can't wait to get home today (currently @work and no GPU in this computer... and besides, I have to work )

Now I have Witcher on GOG too. Just wanted to have DRM-free Steam-independent version and support what GOG is doing here. Despite being Witcher fan who have read all the books and played the game twice already I will sadly have to pass on Witcher 2 for a few years until the time to get a new computer capable of running Witcher 2.... :(
Thanks GOG / CD Projekt . . . =)
