jefequeso: Also, apparently it's a bad idea to threaten to kill Gade Newell.... now THERE'S something they don't cover in the Steamworks FAQ!

Tannath: One would assume that was obvious...

Redfern: Well, first you need to do is pull it of Desura, IndieGameStand and all other pesky DRM-free stores. Like game TRI (for example).

avatar
amok: hu? what????

you do realise that Tri is sold DRM free in at least 3 other places.... they never had any problems with DRM free, they only had a problem with Desura... It is even sold here on gOg... (http://www.gog.com/game/tri)

(and it is a very, very good game)
Yeah, i do know, and even more, i know that they not "had a problem with Desura", they rather was forced by third-party to abandon Desura.
As you can imagine, Desura customers WAS NOT pleased with it.

Anyway, its not like i blaming anyone, i just suggest to not drop Store X even if you got in Store Y.

djdarko: Put a full effort into your product and you shouldn't have anything to worry about. By the way: do you already have a soundtrack composer?

jefequeso: Yup. Me :)

Hey Dave make sure the keys are FULLY customisable and What Engine are you using? is it unity?

For instance I use Right Mouse button for Moving Forwards "D" for backwards "S" for strafing left and "F" for strafing right
"A" for Ducking "G" for secondary Fire mode or scope and other keys for other various functions!

Ahh, I've heard some people talk about the "EFDS" control scheme. In some ways it does actually make more sense then WADS, although I'm too used to WADS to make the switch :P

Yup, using Unity. The controls are simple, but are fully rebindable in the Unity launcher.
I don't know this Steam of which you speak, but congratulations nonetheless jefequeso!

jefequeso: Huh. I actually thought that the Atmospheric Trailer was kind of awful, which is why I made the other one! But I'd like to hear more opinions on this. I obviously want to use the one that presents the game in the best light.
avatar
catpower1980: Yep, that's why I'm also curious about other opinions ;) They should specify if they played the game or not (in the latter case, which one would liklely made them buy the game). Trailers on steam are ÜBER important as a first impresion when people get on your game page so you want to maximize your chances. I can do a giveaway (still got a lot of keys) in a separate thread to lure voters in if we don't have too much feedback ;)
I just wanted to say thanks for ALL of your input and advice to our fellow Goglodyte/dev - you're amazing, catpower1980 ;-p
Can't complete Steamworks signup until my tax information is verified.

Brother requested a modified copy of the game that would let him disable certain screen effects and move freely around the world. Finished that and sent it off to him. Asked if he has any ideas for the trailer yet, and he said "working on it."

Can't really start doing any art for cards/backgrounds/emoticons until I know exactly what the specs for each of these are.

So, I guess I'll just sit here and wait...

This is the part the drives me nuts.

So going to release a Demo anytime soon?

Well, the game is so short (an hour or less) that a demo seems a little pointless. Especially since the game is very much a "it comes together as a whole, not in separate parts" sort of thing.

Well, that's probably closer to what I make.

The Moon Sliver isn't pure horror (it's more of a story with horror elements), but you can also check out my previous (free) game, Fingerbones, which is decidedly psychological horror.

It's not perfect by any means (and I'm not sure I personally "like" it), but you might appreciate it.

Yaay, everything has been verified!

Now I just need to make sense of the Steam SDK and prep everything for release.
Ok, I just had a look at the game since I did not have time before:

First, congrats for getting the game greenlit :-)
Second the games looks really nice and interesting, thanks for posting this here or I would have never known it even existed :D
Definetly added to my wishlist to keep track of it for later :-)
It is coming...

And I've already got 5 emails from people asking to get a review copy.

Good thing? I think?

Now I'm going to unwind and play some Duke Nukem 3d
