tinyE: Several years ago PC Gamer did a great article on the worst games ever. I wish I'd kept it. I remember that #1 was E.T. and #2 was Columbine which I had no clue even existed.

Am I off topic here?
Is this it? http://www.pcgamer.com/2010/09/30/the-15-worst-pc-games-of-all-time/

ginsengsamurai: What makes you think that?

Fuzzyfireball: I've played so many worse games I can't count them all on both hands. Just find it funny when someone says Daikatana is the worst game they've ever played (if they've even played it). If that's the worst you've played consider yourself lucky! :o
Let's put it this way: I like to take forums like GoG casually and light hearted. If I anally go into detail what is the worst game in history, I could probably type up an essay, but I'm not going to do that, unless someone pays me to type up an article. I can be like one of the other members of this site and make a huge list of what are bad games: game play, visually, sound-wise, story, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc....

Etc....

/sigh

Maybe if you gift me a game I don't already have, I'll post up a bigger list in detail? ^_~ If not, then the first game that came to mind at the time: Daikatana, WORST game ever!

What is going on with Daikatana here?
I would agree that it was not a good game and was already dated on the day of its release, but it is by far not the worst I have played, not even close.

nmillar: Now, F.3.A.R. - there's a game that's really bad. Again, that's my opinion. There are probably plenty of people out there who enjoyed F.3.A.R.
avatar
Damnation: Oh, great, I wonder in here because I thought I'd get some interesting points and opinions on the game. But all I get is baseless slander and THIS! Thanks, nmillar, thanks for giving me nightmares! I had almost forgotten about F.3.A.R...
....I played F.3.A.R first....than later I played F.E.A.R 1 .....and I liked F.E.A.R. 1 better

koima57: Can't be worse than Far Cry 1.
I think it is, why else the guy who made at one point refuesed to release it on PC because its full of Piracy?

Good on you. I'll make some random assertions...

- Strawberry Banana Ice cream ----> worst ever!
- Kiwi flavored toothpaste -----> worst ever!
- Pong in Neo Geo -----> worst ever!
- Floating Dirt blocks in Minecraft ----> worst ever!

I can keep going making casual statements about worst ever things off the top of my head.

In short: it's my opinion at the split moment of entering my first post that I felt Daikatana was the worst game I've played. I can go into detail how Superfrog was also pretty bad, how Jade Empire was pretty bad, how some random Flash Game on an arcade site was pretty bad...

Seriously guys: if you have an opinion about something, great. I have my own opinion and when I first joined GoG forums, I had thought it was a pretty cool place, but hmm... Honestly the same shit here with the oddball member who really needs to go and dissect and analyze everything another member says...

/sigh

I just came off working 13 hours straight, dealing with some shitty project just to come to this crap. I'm done with this bullshit.

I love it.

ginsengsamurai: Stuff[sic]
If you don't want to be misunderstood, then don't use 'worst ever' as a buzzword for everything that seems unfavorable to you.
I watched I Am Alive playthrough videos... the game really did not look too bad.

F.E.A.R. is brilliant, F.3.A.R. is horribly bad

No need to get your panties in a bunch. This is the internet after all, filled with assholes and their opinions. If you didn't want someone to respond to your post don't click the "Post my message" button...
I can't imagine any game is worse than these "gems":
1. Critical Path- just press buttons and hope the main character doesn't die in an explosion. If she does, start from scratch and start randomly pressing buttons. If you succeed, your reward is really bad video. Grant it, Eileen Weisinger was pretty hot in the game, but not enough to keep the player's interest.

2. Quantum Gate- The producers of this game could not stop reminding viewers that this was not a game but an "interactive movie". What it really was was a really bad video with terrible resolution where you could occasionally walk around the ship in Myst-like fashion, but the explorations were completely meaningless. The video kicked in and finished the game for you. You could just sit back and watch the "game" play itself.
Three steps used by Quantum Gate producers:
1. Make a really bad low-budget movie.
2. create a few pseudo-game scenes to make the "players" think they are actually doing something.
3. Market the "game" as a new form of interactive entertainment.

3. Nightbreed- This adaptation of a very interesting dark drama film (not really a horror despite the title) was a horrible game. Luckily I've blocked most of the gameplay out of my memory. It was that bad.

4. Star Wars Rebel Assault-While there have been some classic Star Wars games, there were some that just...weren't. In this game you moved a cursor around and randomly shot everything in sight without actually piloting the ship. Repeat for several levels, and the game is done. X-Wing this wasn't. They actually did a Rebel Assault II which was a little bit (a very little bit) better.

5. Mad Dog McCree- While the game itself wasn't bad in its own right, it was nearly impossible to play unless you had a light gun and light guns were hard to find at the time. Also, the ending was silly. you had to get a direct headshot to win, but when you got the bad guy in the head, the bullet hit his hand and made him drop his gun. Of course he survived for a second game.

There are many other bad games, but these come to mind as the worst I remember.

ginsengsamurai: I still insist and persist that to this day, Daikatana is the worst game ever to be made. I rather smear... No wait. /cough Daikatana is the worst game ever to be made!
Obviously, the worst game ever is Sacrifice, just look at how much pimping it requires. :-P

Sigh, Rebel Assault was a rail shooter, comparing it with X-wing, is a bit like comparing Super Mario 64 with the original Mario Brothers. They're completely different genres.

I remember playing Rebel Assault and it wasn't that bad. I just think it was overpriced for what the game was and that they didn't adequately indicate what genre it was in.

Plumbers Don't Wear Ties!

Now there's a horror show. It's one of my favourite AVGN reviews though, mainly because the game is so damned bad he doesn't have to do anything weird to liven up the review.

I know what a rail shooter is, and I have actually enjoyed a few of them. Your point is right here, though, in that they never indicated it WAS a rail shooter (although I remember some Galaga-type scenes as well) so it was misleading. If GOG lands Disney (and Lucasarts) and they release RAII here, I may actually buy it. That one was OK.
But if ANYTHING from Lucasarts comes here it will be insta-buy.
