It’s a holiday tradition! We’ve decorated a Christmas Tree in the GOG.com office. Random people are running around in holiday hats and singing along the winners of the Holiday Songs Contest.

We think that our website deserves some holiday touch of its own and we will deliver that! During our 50% off Xmas Sale we already had four big publishers join forces with us. EA helped us with the the EA Crossword Puzzle, Interplay in the Interplay Caption Contest, thanks to Activision for the Activision Holiday Song Contest and last but not least Ubisoft motivated you guys to write some Ubisoft themed New Year’s Eve Resolutions.

So it’s finally time for the Third Annual GOG.com Screenshot Scavenger Hunt to start! Here are the rules: From now until Friday the 30th of December 2011 we’re going to have some Holiday themed screenshots up on our website for you to find. ;) They will be hidden in our game cards, surrounded by all of the regular screenshots. The trick is (as you can see below) that some of them will be “spiced up” with some holiday themed devices:

When you find a holiday themed screenshot (there are 20 of them in total), be sure to write down the name of the game. When you’ve got them all, list them all in an email to "contest@gog.com" with the subject line being "GOG.com 2011 Scavenger Screenshot Hunt". From every valid application we will pick 10 winners who got all the games right and gift them two games from the entire catalogue (excluding The Witcher 2). The contest ends on Friday December 30th 2011 11:59 GMT

Hm...I did get the 20 shots right (checking against the FB ones). Guess I didn't make the draw : ( .

Trickiest pic for me was XIII. Almost missed the snowman thing somehow. Also almost put Still Life in because of its "Merry Christmas and Happy new year" thing. That and Zork: Nemesis (theres a christmas tree decoration thingy in this one shot).
Arma was also the last screenshot I did find after three complete sweeps of the entire frigging catalogue with 19 screenshots already found.

However, it did cost me a whole evening and now I'm feeling quite silly: simply wgetting the whole site would have awarded me with the same answers in 20 minutes with 0 error possibility :( It never was in my heart to cheat, but as I stated before in any minute did I find funny or even slightly amusing to browse screenshot by screenshot searching for a Santa hat, a reindeer or some Christmas bells.

mrkgnao: I can say I used the "vulnerability", told GOG about doing so, and did NOT win.
But except if told out right, GOG has no way of knowing who used the "traditional" method and who didn't -- that's why it's a real "vulnerability" (which should really be fixed if this kind of contest is to be run again)...

kregent: My opinion is that most of these who had the right answers used the "vulnerability". I attached my results - if I compare it to your answers there is 2 variations (instead of Serious Sam: The Second Encounter and Spellforce 2: Dragon Storm I found X/mas items in TYRIAN 2000 and ZORK NEMESIS: THE FORBIDDEN LANDS.

But anyway thank you that you have opened this topic, because GOG should find the way how to avoid it.
I was drawn as one of the winners and can attest that I didn't use the vulnerability, so, I don't know if that makes you feel any better or not. I went through each screen shot one by one and it seemed fairly obvious to me which ones were added versus which were part of the game. The ones where the Christmas stuff was part of the game looked pretty unlikely once I'd found the actual 20.

It does seem like it would pretty impossible for the GOG folks to know whether or not someone used it, but I'd like to think that many of the winners were honest enough about it not to abuse it.

About the Still Life screenshot, in Mobygames you have the same screenshot at a lower resolution but you can still appreciate that the "Happy New Year" decorations are part of the game. Also, there were no "Happy New Year" decorations anywhere in the other screenshots: only Santas, Santa hats, reindeers, bells and mistletoes.
Congrats to the winners, death to the cheaters 8-)
I got all of them, but seem like I did not make it. Anyway, Congrats to the winners!
Just did it for fun. Some of the pictures got me to laugh, and some were completely obvious. Either way, congratulations to the winners.
Well, I spent 3 hours going through them by hand, missing the Populous one 5 times. Sent the email in the first day. No email, so I guess I wasn't part of the draw. Congrats to the winners, and thanks for the fun contest.
Did anyone else feel that this year's adjustments lacked the subtly of earlier years?

It was still fun to find them but it was glaringly obvious that something had been superimposed.

EDIT: Congrats to the winners all the same, it took determination to go through all the screen shots

Why should it be upsetting that some people decided not to spend hour after hour trawling through the screenshots? I think it is much more upsetting that GOG made a contest that required people to spend hour after hour trawling through the screenshots in the first place.

The Restaurant Empire one was pretty evil, I thought.

The XIII one was awfully subtle, to me.

BTW, did any of the winners get an email and the nothing else back? I apparently won but no games yet. Will I have to wait until Tuesday? I guess I have a ton of Steam games to play but still... Hope the email's not lost.
apparenty the "Festive" Screenshots are still on the game pages even though the contest is over

I replied to the e-mail, but didn't receive anything back yet. I guess they're waiting for the reply of all winners, then announce the winners and give us the games. =)

[Edit]: Oh wait, just checked my e-mail and saw that I received the games!
