mrkgnao: Indeed. I also find it difficult to ignore the consequences of this decision. Whoever is chosen will leave the game at an early stage.

But I guess that's what we signed for.

For lack of anything more substantial, I am inclined to vote against those that seem to have been more aggressive in accusing others, which I believe were HijacK and SentinelWolf. I will pick the latter merely because it seems more fruitful to cast the second stone than the first.
Hrrm...

So, you are the first to leave RVS, if you don't count GreenDigitalWolf's post voting for me (I am not sure he was clear on RVS). Also, you choose to bandwagon an RVS vote with your first vote, after hedging it with feeling bad about someone needing to die?

I think my vote can safely move from my RVS vote to a new target:

Unvote: RWarehall
Vote: mrkgnao

popperik: I think JMich's reason for absence was the same for me: we went on a trip to Europe. Of course we could be night owls, but I can assure you, we're not ;)

On the other hand someone's trying a bit too hard to look like the innocent guy who doesn't know anything about the game so:

Unvote mrkgnao
Vote GreenDigitalWolf
Yeah, I was afraid of asking, but I'm a newbie :p Everytime that I'm going to post something I think what will peeople think of it, because I don't want to lose that soon, but then I get to the WIFOM situation so I just decide to post whatever I was thinking at first.

JMich: With so many new players this round though, it does make it a bit harder to find something that stands out.

mrkgnao: If I may be so bold, I volunteer to be IAmSinistar for a day and make a list of who's new and who's not. I believe it's

Old timers: JMich, RWarehall, Krypsyn
First timers: HijacK, trentonlf, Sage103082, budejovice, mrkgnao, SentinelWolf, popperik, GreenDigitalWolf

I'm not sure about everyone, so please correct me.

Any idea why this game has attracted so many new faces?
I'm relatively new to the forums, and I saw the Mafia #21 thread, read a bit but couldn't completely understand ( I didn't know where to look for rules ) neither join. So I was excited to finally understand and being able to join one of this games! :D

mrkgnao: One more newbie question: I see occasional references in past Mafia games to "quicktopic" (some kind of private thread?). What exactly is that?
Quicktopic is a site that allows quick and easy creation of private threads. Should parties have a reason to communicate with each other, such a thread is created for them to talk in. There is usually one thread for the scum team to discuss their night plans, and there is usually an observation thread as well, so people who do not participate in the game can discuss theories. The observation thread is usually also given to dead people, so they can continue to participate.

GreenDigitalWolf: But the decision is random, isn't it? There's not really a way to lean towards a direction between "he wants me to think that, so I'll do the opposite" and "but maybe he wants me to do the opposite, so I won't do it"
On the first Day, it is pretty dang random. We have to parse every post, see if the wording seems odd, and/or look for common tells. Obviously, we can end up falling into the WIFOM trap a lot. "That sounds really scummy, but would a true scum really be that blatant about it?" or "Wow, that was a really pro-town thing to say, but is it just scum trying to hide in plain sight?". In the end, I just end up going for the person that gives me the biggest scum-vibe, and hope for the best, because the only thing worse than lynching a townie is to lynch nobody.

After the first Day, we will hopefully have more information to use to back up our scum-hunting. We will hopefully have a previous Day's lynch bandwagon to study, as well as, most likely, a new Nightkill. Also, town power-roles (I think it is only Seer in this game) will have had a chance to take action on our behalf during the Night. From those data points, patterns may start to emerge in previous posts. Each Day that goes by will add to the circumstantial (or concrete, in the case of Seer) evidence against scum.

So, it is essentially a race against time, and there is obviously a lot of strategy, as well as luck, involved. Such as, when should the Seer role-claim and reveal his/her evidence? Every Night that goes by adds more opportunity to investigate suspected scum, but it results in more dead townies (and worst of all, put the Seer at risk of death by Nightkill). I think a lot of that decision would be based on how successful the investigation have been in either confirming town or pegging scum.

Thanks for getting me out of my doubt. At least it was the only one I had.

Sage103082: I happened to be in the right place at the right time to see the sign-up thread.
Pretty much this.
*Looks around* This is eerie. The village seems to be empty. I am not sure I like this. There should be tons of people mulling around, doing various village work.
Well, the pre-season of NFL started so most of them are probably making preparations of Sunday night's game.
ah I forgot about the NFL preseason game tonight. My home team played Friday and bombed. Thanks for the heads up. (I do know this game takes it time. Just trying to get some movement again =) )
Don't worry, it's past 11 pm here in Europe and honest folk sleep at night :)
Only 4:30 here, and I was wondering what it took to get activity too lol
Maybe this will help...

*while most are huddled away in a desperate attempt at feigning safety, one previously unnoticed villager has nailed a placard on the village church. In a tightly scrawled hand, it reads...*

Sage103082 - 1 vote (SentinelWolf)
Krypsyn - 2 votes (trentonlf, GreenDigitalWolf)
trentonlf - 1 votes (HijacK)
SentinelWolf - 2 votes (RWarehall, mrkgnao )
GreenDigitalWolf - 1 vote (popperik)
mrkgnao - 1 vote (Krypsyn)

It seems that the wolves are looking for a fight. If they can not show themselves and fight with us in person, it seems they are going to make sure we fight among ourselves.
Yes, it seems most people are avoiding saying much now.
Yep I wonder if the wolves have their tongues...
