These work in Windows 7 Professional x86:
- Empire Earth (and expansion)
- Heroes of Might and Magic 2 (already mentioned)
- Heroes of Might and Magic 3
- SpellForce: The Order of Dawn
- Stronghold (and expansion)
- The Might and Magic Series
(Swords of Xeen), M&M1, M&M2, M&M3, M&M4-5, M&M6.
- Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon
- Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six
- Unreal Torunament 2004 (already mentioned)
...(more to be added)
These work too, flawlessly, but I have set the games' executables to compatibility mode for WinXP SP3.
- Gothic
...(more to be added)
[ I will add more games to this list later.]

doomer: Damn, it's just only with me?
I'm using Windows 7 RTM version, it comes with directx 11
avatar
Namur: Mine says build 7100 so i guess that makes it RC. RTM's start at 7105, right ?

RTM is build 7600.16385
Colin McRae Rally 2005 installed and plays perfect on my Win7 x64 7600 RTM.

Edit : After re reading your answer it seems you were just adressing the RTM versions aspect and not Messiah's issues with it. I get what you're saying about the RTM version.
The main point though, seems to be that Messiah is working just fine with the RC ad not at all with the RTM.

Painkiller and Redneck Rampage work fine for me on final Windows 7 64. Descent and Descent 2 have given me some weird lockup and color problems but I'm not sure if that's Windows 7's fault.
Tested Descent 1, 2 and 3 with success under Win7 RTM x64. Had problems with colors & slow downs with Descent 1 when in Surface mode, in OpenGL mode everything was fine.

Repeated test for Descent 1,2,3. Experienced the same slow-down for fading transitions for D1 and D2, but everything else was fine.
Crap, maybe I just suck. I think my GTX 285 is giving me the lockup problems. The whole thing freezes with a tan screen and apparently thats a problem with the card.
That's good to hear that a good chunk of these games run great on Windows 7. I'm currently using Windows XP Professional on my older Dell computer, and Windows XP 64-bit on my newer computer (I love the no-DRM policy this site uses, I can play my games on BOTH of my computers). But I'll be updating my newer computer this fall when I get my upgrade copy of Windows 7 Professional and I was worried that maybe my games wouldn't work.
Good to hear that that's not shaping up to be an issue I should worry about. :D

I had the same problem using surface mode of DOSBox, with OpenGL (haven't tried other modes) no more slow downs when fading (and lightning).

I am also using a GTX 285 under Win7 x64 RTM.

Okay, I've had this issue since using RC Win7 64...and now same with the RTM...any GOG game I install goes under the games browser, but also goes under a category of "Unspecified" and won't do anything or delete (apart from removing it from the registry). Whats with that?

Previously GOG didn't register their games correctly with Games Explorer, thus it worked in Vista (which is less picky regarding that) but not in 7. Some games are automatically picked up by Windows' own legacy games detection, thereby making two icons (GOG and LGD), a few of GOG's installers have been updated to correctly register the games so they'll work in 7 as well, but not all of them (the LGD icon is still there though, as I don't think GOG can do anything about that).

Teenagent continues bugging Games Explorer =(
They create 2 "}}" intead just "}" on key folder in registry
edit: ops, its fixed =)

So what games have a fixed installer? Which ones still have the funky GE bug?

Hmm, good question, looking at my Games Explorer right now I get the following result.
Working:
Commandos
The Incredible Machine
The Longest Journey
VR Soccer 96
Buggy:
Kingdom
Kingpin
Lionheart
MDK
Messiah
Wether or not the game works, it might get picked up by Windows' own legacy games detection and get (another) working icon.
Suggestion: start a topic listing these and titles you own or know about, than let the rest of us fill in the blanks. I'm not sure if you're here often though or just once in a while, but if you do make a topic about it you should update it with new entries every now and then as they come in.
