Well, i finally decided to try Messiah and just like Miaghstir i didn't play that long, but so far i'm not having any problems...
Edit: I played a bit more, already possessed at least half a dozen people and it's still working fine...

I'm using Windows 7 RTM version, it comes with directx 11

Mine says build 7100 so i guess that makes it RC. RTM's start at 7105, right ?

According to Wikipedia:
Windows 7 RTM is build 7600.16385
I assume the number after the period is the one changed with various hotfixes, and the "major" number (7600) may be changed with service packs.

That's the final RTM build.
As i understand it, 7100 was the final RC build and 7105 was the first post-RC (RTM) build.

Perhaps, I've seen b7165 or so as well, but I'm not much interested in various leaks, only the official releases concern me (of course, I don't have access to any official MSDN-only builds that may or may not have come in between the RC and final RTM either, so it's really only the open betas, rc's and finals I care about).
If you're in one of the groups that got the privilege of access to a more closed test version, fine, good for you. If you're in the group that found a leaked copy of said version on some torrent site, fine, good for you. But for the non-pirate and non-privileged enthusiast, there's nothing between 7100 and 7600.
Bah, what the heck, I am a pirate, but I just don't find it worth reinstalling the OS that often, I got the betas to try out in a VM but didn't bother running 7 as a main OS until the RC was released, and never bothered to try the in-betweens as they weren't meant for wide-spread testing anyway (and a VM isn't a very good testing system).

I really wouldn't know about that. I'm on 7100 myself, but i've read some material concerning the devellopment stages that clerly indicated 7105 as the first RTM build. As for who had acess to the intermediate RTM builds, post RC and up to the 7600, like i said, i wouldn't know.
In any case, am i correct in assuming that you're also on RC 7100 ? Cause if you are, that could start showing a pattern regarding Messiah...

A friend of mine got Windows 7 Professional for free through his university. The license seems to have a high limit, as it is installed on three computers so far, including mine. I find that to be rather awesome.

Probably the whole university has the same license key, so the number of valid installs could be several hundreds or thousands, if limited at all. That was the case of an XP key I found a few years ago, based on where I found it I wouldn't be surprised if it was already copied a few dozen thousand times, and it never failed me.

It's starting to look like Messiah and RTM don't get along then...

The question is wether anyone has tried running Messiah on build 7600? That's the most important one after all, as that's the one that'll be sold and come pre-installed on new computers. I'm certain the team will weave its magic to make it playable again if it's not working in the final.

Well, the peculiar thing was that after it was used the first time, we had to use the automatic phone activation. However it never failed.
But I also experienced the same thing with the Vista Business license at work; first time the key worked flawlessly, every time after it was necessary with automatic phone activation.

Yeah, i guess you're right. I have faith in the team's magic, but to tell you the truth i'm not looking forward to moving on from 7100. It's performing flawlessy at my end both with old and new games with no fiddling whatsoever.

I have my gripes as well as i have the same experience. We have until March to build up our courage though (unlike the sorry butts that helped themselves to the 90-day trial, though they could probably just enter a key and be done with it).
